Addison Mountains Requirements: SC4Mapper (to install this sc4m file into your game) Addison Mountains is strictly a fantasy map and is not meant to represent any real place. Addison Mountains is a map that I consider part of my "natural" map collection. What this means is that you will not find very many completely flat plains on the map (unless you make them yourself), the landscape is a more natural landscape full of undulations, crevices and the like that is found very often in nature. You will most assuredly have to use the games terraforming tools if you want flat plains to build your cities on. And there are many places on the map where flattening out the landscape with the plains tool will work great to allow you to place your larger urban areas. In the screenshot below I have used the Yucatan terrain controller (sorry no link, I don't remember where I got it), and the Dogfight Dark Igneous Rock mod. Remember that you can only use one terrain, Rock and Tree mod at one time. The trees that I use with the combination of rock and terrain mods listed above is the "Meadowshire Coast Tree Controller". Edit: Thanks to Timmystwin ( for letting me know the urls to the two mods in the comments section) here are the links to the Yucatan Terrain Mod and the Rock mod: https://www.simtropolis.com/STEX/details.cfm?id=20587 that is the yucatan mod and https://www.simtropolis.com/STEX/details.cfm?id=19057 For the Rock Mod. If you are not using any terrain, rock and or tree mod with your game, please don't expect the map to look like it does below. With the Maxis terrain and trees this map will look very brown and bland, that is beyond my control. Please choose a terrain, rock and tree mod that you enjoy when using this map. I need an air purification lot, could somebody please suggest one
City Planner posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Hi, I made a mistake and placed the Akins Air purification lot in my town, then immediately deleted it and it turned all of my town into a huge red smog pit. I need an air purification plant that will clean it all back up and when then removed will not leak it all over my city . Does anybody have a suggestion on what building in the STEX will do this for me? Thanks, -

Interesting Glitch with Large Maps
City Planner replied to indiestyle's topic in Mapping Community Room
It always comes back for me. I lower my res of playing the game to 1680x1050 and render the tiles and the blue goes away, but anytime that I open them again at my normal res of 1920x1200 and save them the blue comes back. The only solution that I've found is that I have to run the game at 1680x1050 to keep them from rendering with the blue bar, or run at my native res, and then run the game after Im done playing and render any tiles at the lower res to get rid of them, which they'll return with the blue bar the next time that I play, but it's so annoying to me to open up my game and region to play and see those blue bars that I've just got to render them at the lower res after each player period so that next time that I open up the game at my native res the blue bars are not there. I've found that if I run the res slightly less than 1920x1200 then the blue bars don't save on the region map, but then everything is slightly squished or squashed when playing the game which is actually a bit more annoying than the blue bar when I open up a region. -
I use Sc4mapper with Windows 7 64bit with no problem. You may want to check the forum at sc4devotion for sc4mapper, if I remember correctly there was something funky about the path of my documents that could stop it from working. I've also used SCTerraformer on windows 7 64bit with no problems either.

Does Nvidia's control panels AA work with SC4?
City Planner replied to City Planner's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Yes, it's on software mode mainly because on hardware mode it causes problems for the game for some reason. I have an AMD Quadcore 2.2GHz, with 8GB of system RAM, and an Nvidia 275GTX video card so not sure why hardware mode crashes the game so I just run it on software mode instead. Still, would be nice to get a bit less jaggies at the 2nd closest zoom level so that I can take some better screen shots that I've been wanting to do to start my own City Journal for a while now. -
I Got A Problem! Please Help!

Hmmm, great I was given bad information and now I've passed it along. Thanks for straightening me out on that Doria, I don't have any use for it anymore since "losing" my serial number once I started to keep a database in a nifty CD catalog program that I bought to keep track of all my games serial numbers so that I don't lose anymore of them. Thanks for the info though, Im sure it makes Andey very happy. -

Sorry, no edit feature kind of blows here, but... That last line of "possibility to blow up" doesn't make me want to install it at all. For all I know it's a ticking time bomb waiting to unleash mass quantities of radiation or smog on my city thus ruining my city. Not going to take a chance with a bat of this low quality.

Even usng Internet Explorers "zoom" feature at 400% doesn't allow me to really tell what these are. But the building that is there with a pipe coming out it's roof definitely needs some serious work, from the best that I can tell from the image it's a box with a pipe coming out the roof. A better image would be in order if it's more than that so that we can see what it really is.

I Got A Problem! Please Help!
City Planner replied to Andeyhollawho's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
As far as others told me when I lost my code, I'd have to buy another Simcity 4 deluxe for $19.99. I was about to go down to the local target store and buy it again figuring that I'd gotten so much enjoyment time out of it that it was definitely worth giving up $19.99 to buy another copy of SC4 Deluxe Then I made one last ditch effort to find the manual which had the code on the back of it and found it out in the garage amongst all the other game manuals that I've never thrown out. If you don't have the manual again then be prepared to spend another $19.99 if you want to play anymore. That's the most that this site will let me say on this subject. I was given wrong information on the subject but the person below me straightened it out so I cross out my above text as being wrong. -
Hi, I've never had my environment bar go completely into the red and stay there without at least a little bit of a hint of the green arrows indicating that it's trying to come back to the green, so it could be a plugin that I've added to the game or I'm just really not playing like I used to. Any hints or tips on what I can do or what I can add to my city to make the environment bar start returning to the green? I really don't have that much dirty industry, and the High tech has started to show up as of late so I'm thinking that things are going okay, but the environment bar is solid red without even a hint of green. Thanks, As a non related question... Is there a mod that will prevent the advisors from popping up with new messages while I still have the building they just rewarded me with on the end of my cursor? As it is now, there are a lot of times that the advisor pops up and gives me a building reward and while I'm looking for a place to put the building, the advisor pops up again with another award building to be placed, so obviously if I click on the new popup windows link for the new building I loose the other one off my cursor. I suppose it wouldn't be that big of a deal to find these reward buildings after I'm done placing the last one they gave me if I didn't have 3.7GB of plugins, so theres a huge amount of items in every menu list making it really tough to find the reward buildings. Thanks again.

OMG!!! just now figured this out after years of play!!!

I had no idea, I'd just been dragging them off in a diagonal direction to see if they were capable of doing that. Guess I'll have to try it with the shift key now to see if there were any that could not be dragged diagonally without the shift key and see if I missd. Pffft, manuals? We don't need no stinkin' manuals. Manuals are for girliemen. No no senior, I think we do need manuals, we need them very much, even if you don't gonna read them. Pedro, when was the last time you read a manual? Si senior, I read the manual to cities xl, but it get me nowhere. Pedro, why am I talking to you on here? I don't know senior, me thinks that you need more than 1 hours sleep in 8 days maybe. Maybe Pedro, maybe. -
I need an air purification lot, could somebody please suggest one
City Planner replied to City Planner's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I tend to agree and honestly don't know where it came from. This was the first time that I saw it in my DAMN menu, and have to wonder if it came from the Simcity 4 exchange and maybe it was listed as one type of building but was the akins building instead. Looks like I'll need to go through all of my DAMN menu and try to remove anything that came from the Simcity 4 exchange just in case. Dang I hate to ditch this particular city as it was finally coming together and looking the way I was hoping it would with suburbs and beach front properties etc, and while I could leave one of these lots in place to keep the pollution away, that's just no fun, the pollution that is genuinely generated from my city is a fun aspect of play for me to try to keep it at bay, but not the insand amounts that get added when dozing that lot. Thanks for the replies -

City Planner replied to City Planner's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Okay, thanks to both of your for the information, I think it's finally sinking into my thick skull. I'm guessing that because that Akins purification lot barfed Gazillions of tons of pollution into my city when I removed it, I'm basically stuck with that pollution (if) I don't want to have some sort of purification lot in my city until such a time as there is no further polluting lots in my city. Had the Akins lot not barfed up all that pollution upon removing it, I'd only have the original pollution. I don't know who Akins is, but damn him! I guess I'll just let loose the destructo stuff and wipe the city and start it over, I was only 10 hours in or so. Thanks for the replies. -

City Planner replied to City Planner's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Do you know the lot that I'm talking about? I had very little pollution before placing the Akin air purification lot. Once I placed it that little pollution went away andafter just a couple seconds on the map and I removed that lot and that's what caused the entire city to turn red with pollution, obviously when that lot is removed it dumps millions of tons of MORE pollution than was there to begin with. So the only pollution problem that my city has has been caused by the Akins air purification lot not by my city. I want to clean up the pollution that removing the Akins lot created, not get rid of it all together. Surely there is an air purification lot that will remove the extra pollution that removing the akins lot created, and that when removed itself, will not explode and add all the extra pollution that the akins lot added when I removed it after only a few seconds in my city. So, my Industrial section did NOT create this massive pollution outbreak, it was the Akins air purification lot's removal (after only a couple seconds on the map) that created this huge outburst of pollution.
