  1. Simcity 2013 at one year.

Best, Maarten First and for most you must remember that SC 2013 is just one year old.. one can not judge such a huge scale game by one year perspective. Besides, where was SC4 after one year of launching? It was a pretty bad game full with bugs and without any mods. same goes with Cities XL which has amazing graphics that's true, but without its XL nation community and their thousands of mods would be dead by now... When Minecraft was launched many people were spectical weather it will be successfull, some critisized its simple graphics, some said it's borring and will die in a few months. well look at it now, look where it got as one of the popular games of all times. Just give SC 2013 a chance, wait patiently for new additions and packs. Remember that SC4 have had its time and becomes irrelevant as the new one takes it place. one to two years from now it will be dead so we all should support SC 2013 and other alternatives. I think that it's a shame people don't give it a chance. IMO it has a great potential to become the BEST city builder. we all need three things: offline mod, bigger maps with no dead zones and the ability to modify the game. all of those will propbabely be available, the sooner the better.
  2. Discussion about City Tile Size

    It's actually quite cool
  3. SimCity Update 5 + Mac Delay

Will this work well on my 2011 13" MacBook Air?
  4. Anyone else lost interest?

What makes you so sure it will never happen? Did SimCity 4 was what it is today when it went out? Look at CitiesXL, this game was boring first but today it is awesome and for good reasons! (game upgrades and modding). So all we need to do is be patient for a future upgrades and modding for SimCity. then we'll have bigger maps, more features and probably offline mode.
  5. Hi guys, I have a mid-2011 MacBook Air 13" model which I use as my main computer. However, the mac version seem to come out only on spring so I want to buy the PC version and use it for now. As mentioned before the Mac version will not cost any additional fees as long as I buy a digital version of it on Origin. I do have other question though.. do you guys think it could run fine with Boot Camp on my MacBook air?
  6. Maybe it will get better with time. I think it's worth buying even with all the disadvantages..
  7. What's disappointing is that the paths could be weighted based on traffic density so that shortest route isn't just the only criteria. Further, Maxis once stated that agents would start out with the intention to travel the shortest route but would update their path finding based on new data such as alternative routes on roads that can support higher density traffic. What's shown in the videos is clearly not the case. I can't get it. how did Monte Cristo have managed to do so on Cities XL (and must say in an incredible way) and Maxis did not? is it that complicated?
  8. lol that's just horrible! It's like the traffic always flow in the shortest way (even under high congestion). In Cities XL the traffic flows in the fastest way - hence the congestion much more balanced and realistic. heck, CXL doesn't have the glassbox engine. I can only imagine what would happen when you build an Highway. the traffic will still use the congestioned roads because it's the "shortest" way to drive. even if the highway has 8 lanes and higher speed limits. it's just sad, really sad...
  9. The sad thing is that this issues will effect all of us. Sadly the situation is really bad for the franchise...
  10. They only care about the cash. That's how huge corporation such as EA think - they really don't have any love for the genre. only for the money...
  11. Funny thing about the game

What's the issue with not being able to build skyscrapers next to curvy roads? I don't get it..
  12. This is pathetic! That's the result of being led by the love for money instead of by love for the franchise
  13. Bad day for PC gaming

Bad day for city-building ganre I'd say.
  14. Anyway, I'm not going to buy an unplayable game. That's even without mentioning the so many missing features..
  15. Need a new PC what to buy?

Guys will the game run fine on my MacBook Air 13" 2011 model?? Thanks.
  16. For me it's the pathetic 4 km2 tile size that I hate the most!
  17. The fans are being very unfair

You all are such a whiners. You should thank Maxis for even touch this DYING ganre in the first place. Just appreciate what we have instead of advancing the death of the entire City-Builders community and buy the game. You will see that things such as map areas will get better as an expansion pack will be released.
  18. The fans are being very unfair

That is all, let the flaming begin. Can't agree more. When I was playing for one hour time the Beta I was not surprised at all. So much were discussed about the tile size and the holes between cities in regions as well as the lack of Subway and Highways. However, I find the glassbox engine AMAZING. I have had a really great time playing it thanks to the great simulation. The city was alive from first step and everything seens to be vivid and tangible. That was the real surprise for me! it was not the graphics (which on any way can not be maximized on my old PC) nor the diversity of element in the game. True, Cities XL have amazing realistic graphics, huge maps and much more content (especially thanks to the community and modding) But the game engine of it is dead. So please guys be optimistics and you'll see that the game will develop in the right direction with bigger maps and fewer empty spaces as well as new features and content. I will buy this game for this reason and I hope that others will do the same. Peace.
  19. SimCity Vs Cities Xl 2012

Sorry guys but even though Cities XL is far from being the ultimate city builder it is still the winner as it seems for now...
  20. New Screenshots

Is it just me thinking that the cars take too much of the lane's width? there should be much larger space between the cars!! (in Cities XL it is realistic) I'd suggest Maxis of fixing this issue as this is quite imature to happen in the first place... that how it should be: and from Cities XL:
  21. SimCity Mac

Likely a new 15" MacBook Pro with Retina Display would be released before SC2013 is released. I hope that the upcoming SimCity game were available in the Apple App Store, albeit as a single-player version. This way, it would be as close to a 100% offline single-player mode as possible, just like with the Apple App Store version of Civilization V (being the only legal non-Steam version of the game). Thing is I don't want the MacBook Pro but the MacBook Air. Anyone has a clue how will the game run on a 13" model?
  22. SimCity Mac

well it looks like sim city will be available for Mac http://www.ea.com/news/simcity-and-origin-arriving-on-mac Now all I need is to get a right Mac for SimCity so I would appretiate your help guys in advicing me which new Mac to buy. I'd like the new (2012) MacBook Air 13" so can someone help me?? here is the link for all the available models at the Apple Store: http://www.apple.com/macbookair/specs.html
  23. In my opinion as long as we can't construct this highway systems Sim City will not be a discent City builder game! (Images were taking from XL nation - a CITIES XL fans community) Now Maxis should take it into account that a game without HIGHWAYS, SUBWAYS and enough area to build those is USELESS. I hope they will get themself together before it's too late. we as the community will never forgive ourself for letting this chance go away..
  24. OH NOEZ! XL Nation is OFFLINE!

Hey guys. got some spare time now so hope XL nation will come back as soon as. miss ya all
  25. I am realy amazed about how Maxis followed Cities XL in some aspects, must say it's a good thing.. The basic idea of upgrading existing roads into same width other roads was first in use on Cities XL. Main terminals and bus stops on pavement as well as trams and tracks over roads was as well first at Cities XL (credit for Altiris from XL nation for the trams mod). However, must ask what all the buzz about? we have it all now and in much better graphics. not to mention the 100 km2 area... as for the modular highway system which seems to be lacked from Sim City it is available for CXL on XL nation ready for download (RHM2). this thing let you DECIDE how your highways and interchanges appear. starts from how many lanes and in which height to how big the interchange or ramp is... I do hope that Maxis will think out of the box and let us all a game worth playing. hope they take the goods from Cities XL combined with the amazing glassbox engine they built. the fact that the community will not be able to mod the game scares the hell out of me. Just look how Cities XL has changed dramaticlly thanks to XL nation and see what I mean!
