Something not quite right with pop vs job opportunity
tek-69 replied to tek-69's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Thanks, I never even thought about that. To me all sims need jobs, been playing for a long time and the fact that kids don't work and sims retire never even crossed my mind. -

I'm currently working on a city with only one neighbor. The city I'm working on has a population of just over 51k, But the industrial jobs and commercial jobs only add up to about 41k on the city data you get from the regional map. So that's about 10k sims without access to work. Why am I not getting jobless zots and sims freaking out? The cities only neighbor doesn't have enough jobs either but they tend to cry a bit. But this city doesn't. Any thoughts or ideas on why this might be occuring? It's not really a bad thing, I'm just curious. -
Earliest SimCity Series Memory...
tek-69 replied to enemyone's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Let's rewind back to the late 80's. Simcity just came out and a boy named tim had no computer. Ahhh but his friends did and they had B&W simcity. Instantly I was hooked like a crack addict taking his first hit. I would play for hours at friends houses. Now here's where it gets weird. Since I had no computer how could I play when I wasn't at someone elses house? I grabbed my graph paper and made my cities the old fashioned way. I would draw out cities at home or in school(i wasn't a good student) for hours and hours, just daydreaming my cities to life. Eventually I got a snes and that was the first actual simcity game I personally owned. Since then I've played every version made, except for societies, I will not even give it a chance. Of course to this day, I still play sc4. -

I just made my first prop using gmax. I made a giant pokeball that I then created a basic park around in LE. Everything went as planned so I placed it in my city. It's looks pretty good but if you zoom in to close, the pokeball turns into a bunch of big black and gray pixels. Any idea what I did wrong or advice on how to avoid this next time?

What would it be like if SimCity had Seasons?
tek-69 replied to Skyline7284's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I think it would be awesome, for a about 3 years game time, then i would probably be annoyed by the memory usage. tbh i dont even use the night/day settings. Then again maybe thats just because the comp im using actually came with windows ME(xp now though). yep shes that old and shes still kickin. -
I feel bad for kids these days, they get more pressure in school to overachive than we ever did. and the new propaganda they aim at them is even more far fetched than anything we ever saw. We're headed for a permanent helmet society. Wrap em up in bubble wrap so they dont break and feed em granola bars. Anything else is child abuse. Besides its for the children

yes it does, thanks. gonna go try it now.

This thread seems like a good jump off for a similar question. How do i make props? you mentioned it's not done in gmax and the loteditor seems like it's just for positioning. What do i use to make say my own billboard, and then how do i turn it into a usable plugin file?

Thanks i fixed both issues and now it looks great.

I'm new here and to lot editing, please bear with me. I made a 4x4 park fountain park with with all tiles having grass and a fountain except the center tile, this is set to plaza and has a fountain. It looks correct in the lot editor but when i plot it down in the game it makes the center tile grass as well, which makes it look horrible. Any ideas what im doing wrong?
