I will be much happier not having to make the water grid and was tempted to post this as a suggestion from the get-go. However, I know there are those who enjoy it, and would be fine if it was an option, but not a requirement. I enjoyed the video and I like the "glass box" effects - but, I can see how the sick sims from pollution would get VERY old, VERY quickly and I'd be grabbing a "no pollution" mod from somewhere in the first week of play. There HAS to be zoning density. It's a major part of the game. I'll be quite disgusted(no surprise, given EA's track record) if they take that away.

Discussion about Always-On Connection to Origin

Someday, when the internet has become like Cable TV and is ruined by the government and corporations - I'm going to cease having it. Or, I may become too poor to afford the cost of having the internet. And you cannot imagine how much I love the internet. When this happens, I want to be able to play the games that I love offline. And I will find a way to do so. -
Disasters in SimCity (2013)

Definitely Zombie Apocolypse as mentioned above!!! SO want!~ The standards need to be there and improved upon- Earthquakes were anti-climatic in 4 - need to be devastating. Same for tornadoes and floods/tsunamis. Lightning is a MUST-have still as that was still one of my favorite things to do in 4. The sound alone was so awesome. Volcanoes need to be faster and more devastating as well. Loved forming land with volcanoes, but it took forever! -
Some very basic questions for experienced players regarding transit
jonas3333 replied to jonas3333's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Bah! Now I have to get that! JK - That IS cool thank you! Plus a thank you for clearing that up! I'm all but good on these questions - In fact, you've answered them all just fine. I just don't know why none of my passenger train stations ever seem to be used. I thought it might have something to do with that line or loop question I had, but I guess not. At any rate, my cities are happier now with fewer bus stations and more efficient subway systems. Who rides the train anymore anyway right? Have a good one, Jonas -

Cool - This does help. I do have the NAM which I find to be awesome and completely overwhelming at times. But I'm learning it little by little. It's just even with that, I didn't understand these basic aspects and it's good to know finally how it's done. Still a little confusion over the subway stations. Apparently, I'm doing alright with them, but you mention something about "larger stations may take up several tiles". They only come in one size right? Not getting something there. Thanks for replying! Jonas -

Hi - I've been playing SC since the original and have had SC4/RH since it came out. I'm pretty good at making cities but there are some things regarding transportation that I have never known so I thought I'd ask. 1. Bus stations: Do they need to be on both sides of the road? Should they be on opposing corners at intersections? How much spacing between stations should I have? 2. Train Stations: Does the rail behind the passenger station need to form a circle so that trains can go around or is it sufficient to just have the rail end at the end of the building? 3. Subway stations: Do the stations have to be Directly above the tunnel or is on the sides of the tunnel preferable? I usually just go overboard with this stuff and I'd like to know once and for all, the best way to handle those. Thanks for your time and replies! -
I'm positive this is a Vista thing here. It's happening to me as well. Don't mess with the folders or internet explorer. Vista doesn't allow programs like the plug-in to download things into your system for security reasons. It's a very annoying aspect but at the same time, it does provide good security so you really shouldn't mess with the UAC(user account control) feature as it could jeapordize your system. I'm hoping they will come up with a way to get around this and allow us to give a kind of priority to certain programs but even doing that, they jeapordize the security feature. It's kind of a no-win right now - you wouldn't believe the hassle for downloading my Sims 2 stuff now. In the meantime, what I plan to do is check out these other sites for downloads and since I still have the plugin files in my older XP computer, I am going to copy them to a zip drive and transfer them into the plugin folder that way. Perhaps you have a similar option. Good luck!
