LaRochelle Island @ 2nerdy4u: Thanks, here we go The topic of today's update is LaRochelle Island, wich is located just a 20minutes ferry ride south of Frederikshaven. Due to this prime location it is well known retreat area for the 200.000 inhabitants of Frederikshaven. The Island itself is a classified as a PCL (Protected Cultural Landscape) since 1987. This includes, that the Island's appearance needs to stay the way it is, that's why you still find plantations and wide jungles on LaRochelle. View on the middle part of LaRochelle. You can see the three beaches. The left one in the foreground is Mariah's Bay. The right one in the foreground is the most visited Beach, Dastak Beach. The one in the background is called Northern Beach, it is not allowed to visit this beach, due to the fact, that it is protected especially. View on the Northern Beach and two plantations. The Coconut Plantation was owned by the St.Croix Family. In 1987 it was given to the PCL Foundation, wich makes sure the cultural area stays the same. It's the peaceful nature, wich makes people come to LaRochelle Most of the people don't know, that rice is cultivated on LaRochelle. The fileds ar located on terraces, wich have been laid out on the rocks. The rice is sent to the best restaurants of Walker's Island and to the Walker's Palace. The biggest village on the Island is called Dastak Beach. There is one mayor hotel, the Dastak Hilton and some small but expensive vacation homes. Houses like those are extremly small, but they cost a fortune, due to their location. With a boat you can reach the skyline of Frederikshaven within 20minutes, and still you are in absolute nature. Mariah's Bay is only accessable by boat. View on the village of Dastak Beach

Part Une History Lesson Discovery of the Islands and Rise and Fall of the Frederikson Dynasty The Islands were first sighted by Christian Frederikson on May 13, 1526. Frederikson was a mariner and explorer of the mighty and powerful Frederikson Family, a wealthy trading dynasty from the european nation Zollernmark. He named the Island "Tol Calen" (green Island), after its dense forests. Colonization started 50years later. Christian Fredrikson in 1526 In 1587 506 settlers left the harbor of Friedrichsstadt in the Zollernmark with 6ships, guided by the fleet's jewel, the Begley. The Begley anchoring in the Elizabeth Bay. Three of the ships landed on a smaller Island south-east of the main island and founded the city of Frederikshaven (also Port Frederikson) View on Port Frederikson with the Frederikson-St.Croix Palais The three other ships anchored in the Elizabeth Bay and founded Port Elizabeth (the former Elizenhaven), named after the queen of the Zollernmark Elizabeth Louise von Hohenzollern. Queen Elizabeth Louise von Hohenzollern. Within the years the population rose to 25.000 people in 1680, most of the people living in Port Frederikson. The King of teh Zollermark was more and more concerned about the rising power of the Frederikson Family on the Island. The indeterminated situation, who owns how much needed to be cleared. The remaining unsetteled areas were divided in 1715 within the Kronstadt Compact. The Kronstadt Compact A quarter of the Island belonged to the royal family of the Zollernmark, a third was owned by the Frederikson Dynasty. The other third was sold and given to new settlers. The Walker Family, who made a fortune with plantations on the Island purchased ca. a sixth of the Island. The Island was declared as an official colony of the Kingdom Zollermark. From now on a Governor was the head of the Island. (In the Zollermark the governor was referred to as the viceroy) The citizens were able to elect a Senate, which was able to submit bills to the Governor The governor was officially appointed by the King of the Zollermark, and who was the only one able to dispose him/her. Practically the Frederikson Dynasty held the thorn of the Island until 1807. This period, from 1715 until 1807 is called the Frederikson Era. It was the time, that the Family power was on its peak. But some heavy conflicts came up. The Frederikson dynasty around 1780 Within the centuries the powerful Walker Dynasty purchased 1/3 of the Island. They bought a big part of the royal estate in 1798. In 1809 the Dynasty hold more than 50%, they enlarged their fortune with plantations, sea trading and financial services and became wealthier than the Frederikson Family. In 1815 Benjamin Alexander Walker married the only daughter and remaining inheritor of the Frederikson Family, Christiane Louise Frederikson. Christiane Louise Frederikson 1815 In 1816 William Walker was born, he became the governor in 1834. Under him the Walker Family owned 5/6 of the Island. In 1817 he declared the Kronstadt Compact as invalid. An new agreement was signed in Friedrichstadt in 1818. From then on the Walker Family choose the governor. The Island was also renamed in Walker's Island. The Walker Era began... The oldest living member of the Walker Clan is Marie St.Croix Walker, who is the holy grandmother of our holiness Karen Walker. Marie St.Croix Walker in 2006 (in front of a portrait of her deceased husband Stanley Walker, the grandgrandgrandson of Christiane Louise Frederikson Walker and Benjamin Alexander Walker). _______________________________________________________________________ Part Deux Frederikshaven Within the next Updates we will visit the glorious Capital of Walker's Island, Frederikshaven. Frederikshaven was founded in 1588 by settlers from the Zollernmark. We will take a closer look on the history another day. Frederikshaven is also called Port Frederikson in the English-speaking part of Walker's Island. Today we will visit two of the most frequented sights of Walker's Island: The Rhûn Cathedral and the Walker Palace (former Frederikson Palace) Rhûn Cathedral The Rhûn Cathedral is the biggest Church on the island, even though it was never used as one. It was built from 1826 to 1842 to celebrate the golden wedding anniversary of Christiane Louise Frederikson-Walker and Benjamin Alexander Walker. But Benjamin Walker never saw the completed building, he died one year before the grand opening and was buried inside the church. View on the Cathedral, the sorrounding park and Walker Palace. The monument for William Walker (1816-1879) The interior of the cathedral, some hundreds tourists visit the church everyday. A closer look to the park shows the exuberant plantings and trees. Walker Palace Walker Palace is the official home of her holiness, the governor of Walker's Island: Karen Walker. It was built from 1767-1798. From 2001-2006 it was renovated from the ground up. The costs for the renovation are estimated at 800million $. The Palace is one of the biggest secrets of Walker's Island. Normally it is not opened to the public and only a few pictures of the inside exist. The Small Stairway A hallway 487 servants work in the palace, among them are: 3 Drivers 6 Pastry Chefs 64 Gardeners 35 Bodyguards 4 Pedicurists 43 Cooks 1 Helicopter Pilot 1 Jeweler 18 Bakers 1 Plastic Surgeon 1Private Detective 2 Pharmacists 1 Back-Up Pharmacist 1 Optometrist 21 Butlers 2 Manicurist 287 other servants (maids, cleaners) The main entrance hall The big stairway Palace Garden View on the Palace Garden, wich is as good as never opened to the public. So today we visited the Rhun Cathedral and the Walker Palace. The nect time we will take a closer look at Frederikshaven itself. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ So I hoped you all liked this Update cya dAVid

Royal Gardens The Royal Gardens are a suburban community upon the sparkling, white beaches of the Carribbean sea. It is located on the northern peninsula of Walker's Island just 4miles east of Port Elizabeth. Royal Gardens offers a small piece of paradise for a "small" piece of money. Estate prices start at 380.000$ and go up to 750.000$. Most of the houses are a waterfront property and have their own pools. There are only a few beachfront homes, they start at 900.000$ and go up to 1,4Mio $. View on the Oceanside Residences Silver Hills Estate The Silver Hills are an older community. They were planned and laid out in the 70's. It is the more good old money area and new residents are not very welcome.[ A closer look on the area The Silver Hills are probably the most popular residental area in Port Elizabeth. that's it for today... cya dAVid

Walker's Island Discover the paradise by yourself Hey everyone! This is going to be my first CJ here at Simtropolis. Some of you will know me from sc4devotion (urban). The region I will present you is called "Walker's Island", an Island in the Carribbean Sea. I will tell you more about it soon. But I know people wnat to see pictures. I start with Josiah's Bay. Josiah's Bay is located in the south of the Island and is a well known vacation and living town. View on the Bay with some Beach Houses. Those Houses are within the most expensive and most controversial houses on the Island, since the fragile beach woods had to be cleared to make space for the mansions. Nethertheless the location is just amazing and beautiful. Let's take a look at some of those houses This house is not the biggest but has an amazing yard and direct beach access The neighbor house is one of the oldest in this area. It was built in 1897 for Karl St.Croix, who owned sugar plantations on the Island. This housewas recently sold for 11,4 Mio $ and became one of the most expensive houses on the Island ever. It belonged to the deceased legend Johnny Cash who spent the winter months on the Island. Several vacation houses of the Hilton Beach Resort and the beach itself , wich has a long and wide swath of sand that makes it ideal for sunbathing. At certain times in the winter when the waves reach their optimum peak, it is a favourite surfing spot. The less prosperous people and travelers spend their holidays and lifes in the hill side houses... ...or in the smaller oceanfront houses By a special way of planting the dunes the owners make sure to have the perfect oceanview and no trees in the way So I hope you like it. Comments are welcome and if you want ta give me name please don't call be david12345678 but just david cya dAVid
