Graphics Card GeForce 8800 with 512ram, really required?
waway625 replied to Bazkur's topic in Cities XXL
Originally posted by: AmunRe Yes I know. My question is will it work without doing it or does it require 30x Anti-Aliasing to work? That's the only real difference to my knowledge between the 7900 and 8800. I have 16x. If CXL2011 has that option to turn off AA then it shouldn't be an issue. No need to shell out money I don't have on something I don't need if I don't have tooquote> the difference goes far beyond Anti-Aliasing capabilities ( I doubt an 8800 could run the game at high AA too). Raw power difference between the two cards is huge. a 7900 is about as good as an 8600, and as posted by 8600 owners, the card cannot cope much. You can run the game with your 7900 (unless CitiesXL requires a DX10 card) but you will have to lower your settings and you will experience slowdowns in gameplay the 7900 is a 5 year old card.Even the 8800 was a luxury card 4 years ago but with current cards, its not expensive to buy a card thats within the performance range of an 8800GTS -

my question #1 was in reference to this Originally posted by: morriswalters And finally, when it's all over and I have to move on let me take a my cities with me as viewable models. At least I want to be able to see what I worked for and spent money for. quote> 3) No idea, but it looks like 4-5 kmquote> quite small huh? it does look bigger from some of the pics but im not quite sure lol..thanks anyway 4) Some of the buildings seem a little 'out' compared to others (particularly the high density ones) but the overall effect isn't compromisedquote> 5) There are seaports and airports. Don't have any pics because none of my cities have needed them yetquote> glad to hear these 2 issues are ok 6) There are trees but they are not ploppable at this point in time, it's something they plan to expand on in the future ...quote> I hope they do,looking at some cities screenshots it seems there arent much trees in the maps heres another set of questions if you guys dont mind 1.So have they confirmed the plan for ploppable/growable trees? 2. any news on custom contents? 3. any news on other building themes?so far another thing thats stopping me is that the cities architecture look too european and was hoping there would be asian content edit: from the looks of it though, i guess ill just have to wait till some extra stuff are added or MC improves a little on the game..it shows a lot of promise though but not enough for me to buy it now..im in the middle of enjoying NBA 2k9 and NFS:shift anyway so theres no rush for me..hopefully in 2 months the game adds something to make me purchase the game..(

ok some questions before i buy this game.. 1. does your city expire? I read somewhere that it does..is it optional or you dont have a choice and will expire 2. If it does, why? what happens? 3. How big are the maps in km? 4. Are the buildings and roads more or less proportional? 5. Are there seaports and airports? can someone please post a picture? 6. What about trees? can i plop a lot of them? thanks

wait, your city expires in CXL..i was thinking of biting the bullet and buying the game but that just a deal breaker for me
