  3. San Gabriel Metropolitan Area

Hey everyone! Thanks for your comments! It's been almost a week since my last update. Been busy partying and spendin time with my girlfriend and now as there's only 6 weeks left til summer vacation, i'm trying to concentrate on school. (My last exam week was totally screwed up!) I've been doin chemistry, finnish, french and swedish homework since i got home from school today so i thought i'd take a little pause and post some screens I took last week. I had a little incident at Rockmont, my new stadium caught on fire, well that doesn't bother me too much, i got a nice screenshot. So here's the stadium, and the newly started reconstruction: And finally, an ongoing pursuit on the parking lot of the busiest train station in the entire region (approx. 1 km from downtown SanGab) Enjoy!

  11. Show us your City's Details/Close-ups!

Here's a shot from one of the industrial areas of my city. The freeway going thru is one of the main arteries going thru the city which is located in a fairly large valley. The freeway runs west-east and is 9 lanes wide at largest. The pic is taken at about 3 pm, not much traffic.

  17. The UK's Most Pointless Highways

i've seen them in belgium too. correct me if i've seen wrong
  18. The UK's Most Pointless Highways

in finland we have a very "narrow" highway network. according to the wikipedia, finland only has 650 km of highways (approx. 400 miles) most highways only have 2 lanes in each direction. the widest highway i've seen in the helsinki region is 3 lanes + onramp. thats pretty pathetic imo. here's a shot from Highway 4 (finnish name) or E75 (european name). Highway 4 connects southern finland to the north. it goes all the way from helsinki in the south to the very northern parts of finland. the first 150 km of it is highway. thats probably the busiest part. there is small segments of highway classified route by major cities. otherwise it only has 1 lane in each direction and sometimes an overtaking lane. this would be a typical finnish highway. this pic is from Highway 5. the 5 splits from where the highway part of the 4 ends and joins up with the 4 up north. overtaking lane close to the city of mikkeli. maybe this is a little off topic. but imo the finnish highway system is pretty pathetic compared to other european countries (i.e. belgium which i consider more as my home after having spent the most of my life there). since i am in a very happy mood right now, i'll post my favourite highway pic. its from close to a major interchange on the brussels ringroad.
  19. Transportation network

@ dedgren how did u get the picture to look like a satellite pic? it's about skewing the image but how much and which way?
  20. did you know that about 60% of US citizens don't have a passport, which means they've never traveled out of their country. no offense but i think that's pretty poor!
  21. Euro traffic generator

newyorkrunaway1, could u send me a rural version if u have one. or post them on stex. i would love it!
  22. Euro traffic generator

real sweet mikeseith! is it possible to make the same kind of generators for trucks, trains and such? i would really appreciate them! 10/10 for both creativity and functionality. 9/10 for design since the plaza-like lot doesn't really fit to my rural highways. very nice though!
  23. Biggest Regional Population

holy s_it salbador! that's like the entire population of china! how big is your region?
  24. i guess traffic is pretty bad everywhere in southern europe. we lived in belgium for 6 years, and in the beginning our family, especially my mum was terrified of the way people drive down there. yellow light basicly means "floor it, u can still make it thru these greens", not stop as it does elsewhere. when i was about 9, i remember seeing a convertible driving on the freeway with the roof down and little children jumping in the back seat. we were driving about 150 and the convertible was just beside us on the other lane. johnwinston mentioned that parisian drivers get confused of all the signs, that's totally true. i remember seeing a sign in france that had two arrows in the same direction. the upper one said "Toutes directions" (all directions) and the one below pointed in the same direction and had the text "Autres directions" (other directions). pretty confusing, eh? now we live in finland and i gotta say, sometimes i wish i could get back to belgium or any other southern european country cause sometimes it's actually funny to see people going nuts in traffic. that doesn't happen much around here.
  25. Monta

Hey everyone and welcome to my new CJ! I'm going to start playing a region I call Montañas Arenosas (in English: Sandy Mountains). The map is Patience County by MAPP SQUAD. I liked it very much the first time I saw it and decided to build it. So thanks to mapp squad for the nice map. Anyway, I wanted to build a more desertlike city so I downloaded Teirusu's Desert Mod. Here's a pic of the region: My aim is to build a large metropolis with downtown by the little island in the centre of the big valley and suburbs around it on both sides of the mountain. I'll post updates as soon as I complete the first little city in the north, El Norte.
