This is a re-release of my first building. I made some issues with the upload since it was my first BAT. It has the same stats as the previous file: CO$$ Ploppable and Growable Employs 54 Sims Sorry for the issue. I tried to just edit the previous file, but it kept giving me some "Internal Error" -

This is my second upload to the STEX. I'm making my builds a little bigger as I get more experience as a novice batter. This is 13 story commercial office building. I have given it solar panels so that it operates under it's own power. This is a project that I'm working on, to create a city where each building (including regular family homes) is basically self sufficent as it pertains to power. Heads up go to Glenni as I utilized some of his "Roof Junk" and learned to "merge" for this BAT. I hope you are able to find a use for it. Some of the stats are as follows: Employs 350 Sims Power use 0 Water use 5 Ploppable and Growable (ploppable as a Landmark) No Dependencies-as all of my BAT's will be I accept advice well, so please feel free to leave a comment. -

As I sit in front of the screen, watching a city develop, I wonder where I should go next. What should I build next. A city of 50,000 Sims is a typical frustration point for me. I have the tendency to step back, look at my city in disgust and say, "That looks nothing like what I expected, or wanted", and then I destroy it and start over. At this pace I will never get those big beautiful cities that you guys build. I think I'm expecting too much of myself. I've even gone so far as to draw out a diagram of a city on paper before I develop it. I'm thinking I should try a different approach. Maybe I would be better satisfied with several smaller cities through a region, than one big city. Maybe they would grow more toward my suitability if I didn't get so impatient with myself. Has anyone else had this sort of struggle? Are these typical of someone still learning the game? Thanks for all your input.

Wow...this is exactly the kind of advice I was looking for...I appreciate all the help. I will keep you abreast on how things go...and one day I may try to put together a CJ to show what your advice helpped me to create. Thanks Mike

You guys are the best I've seen...not sure if I will ever be that good

You can still upgrade your RAM, go out and buy yourself a couple of 512mb memory chips...should cost you about $150.00 (American money), which is cheaper than a whole new rig. I think if anything is hurting you it is that processor though. Just my opinion.

Hmmmm...you might have heard someone mention the STEX CD.

When should I worry about Aesthetics?
Mike3715 replied to CompACE's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
This is a great thread...alot of good advice. After I found this site, I completely wiped everything out, downloaded some of my favorite maps, and started over. I really try to stay true to alot of things. I don't really use things like money cheats, but I did download the NAM, and I like downloading different growable and ploppable buildings (gas stations, restaraunts, ect..for realism). Unlike Cobb, I enjoy working the taxes, balancing a treasury, and making a city desireable to live in while still turning a profit. And like he said that's what makes the game great, he plays it his way and I play it mine...there's no wrong way to do it. Just so you know. When I design a city, I design it with the future in mind. Knowing traffic will increase and business will grow, I leave room around Avenues to grow into Highways or place mass transit, leave room around small schools to become big school...you get the idea. It's working really well for me. There's alot of ideas on this site, take your time look over alot of stuff, and let the artistic imagination in you fly. Good Luck. Mike -
I have looked for the topic...but I just couldn't find it, so if this topic already exists I apologize. I just recently bought the game...and I love it. I have no NAM, no MOD, and no BAT's in my plug-in's. I'm watching you cats and kittens make all these beautiful cities, and I want in on it. This game is't so much a game, as it has turned into a hobby for me. So that being said...what additions should I make to the game to make my game experience even better? What are the essentials that I am missing? Your help is much appreciated.

Well then all the adjustments that I have made to my computer will be worth it, because I will be playing alot...as well as becomming a regular on this site. My wife loves that I found a hobby that keeps me at home by the way. When I first got Sim City 4 Delux w/ Rush Hour, my game was very slow, roughly 7 minutes shut down time. Since then I have added an additional 768 mb of RAM (to the 256 mb that I had) and a gaming card. Now the game plays great...even on max resolution and all the graphics options on high and well over 150,000 population in the region my shut down time is at about 10 seconds. Like I said before though, I have no plug-ins yet, and I am wondering how it will play when I am up over 1 million population...so we will see how that affects things. Thanks for all the help Mike

SimmsCity: That looks like a pretty cool CD...and more than worth the donation....I'm in on it. How often do they release these Sim City games by the way?

Tolomar: Thanks for the help...I think I'm going to like this site

The Cubs still will not have won the World Series, and the Yankees payrole will be about 500 million dollars

Thanks for the knowledge...there is alot of stuff that I didn't know. I have a pretty good size city (a little over 65,000) and it was starting to get kind of stale.
