Skyscrapers and Large R buildings
BBGun06 replied to Temelin's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
You have to remember to build out before you can build up. It takes a lot of low density to get the population needed for the skyscrapers. Region play is vital, you may not see skyscrapers until you get 300,000+ region pop. And then only with all amenities. So, keep playing, don't give up, and eventually you will see large buildings. BTW, most CJ downtowns are plopped. -

The tracks run from a city of 265,000 to two cities of 50,000 each. The track might not draw right, but I tested it and it works in UDI. they use the bus and regular train quite a bit, but not hsr. BTW, i use better pathfinding with the NAM, maybe that's affecting it? I'll keep testing to find out

always remember, build out before up. Look at cities in Real Life: Tampa, FL - a dozen or so high rises in the center, sprawl for 20 miles in every direction.

I can't seem to get anyone to ride it!? I checked the tracks for breaks because they are easy to miss, but maybe I just haven't expanded it enough yet. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? They use bus and passenger rail, but not HSR, If I get rid of the rail... nothing! another city: ...two riders?!

Carpool incentive ordinace pointless
BBGun06 replied to mikemac's topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
From what I understand, the carpool ordinance makes each car represent 1.2 people instead of 1. This means that about 1/5 of people are now sharing a ride to work. -
I'm quite fond of Neal Stephenson's vision of the future: The Federal government has collapsed under it's own weight. All services previously provided by the government, (police, schools, mass transit, and so on) are run by private companies. A few states have become independent countries. The rest of the former USA is unincorporated sprawl dotted by small city-states. Franchises have become the only profitable businesses. As the government imploded, it sold off most of it's assets. The Interstates and US Highways are now privately owned toll roads. Military hardware, including naval vessels, have been sold to private owners. The Dollar is hyperinflated to the point that quadrillion notes are 'small' bills. The real world has so many problems that people retreat into the Metaverse, which is like a virtual reality internet.

Boston Central Artery/Tunnel Project (Big Dig)
BBGun06 replied to blahdy's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Please tell me you're going to put in lane lines... Imagine the mayhem during rush hour with millions of people trying to use one wide lane! Otherwise, it looks very nice -
Real Highway (RHW) - Development and Support
BBGun06 replied to qurlix's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Right now there are none. I use one way roads, puzzle pieces and hole diggers to create interchanges. It works very well b/c it is customizable- 3,919 Replies

BBGun06 replied to qurlix's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Do we need anything with that much capacity? It might look cool, but I've never been able to fill up a highway in the game. Maybe someday we can do that, but we should finish what we have started first- 3,919 Replies

There is a thread in the modding r+d forum called "File Formats, The Positioning formats (RUL, and Sc4path)" I found it by doing a search then realized it didn't show up in the forum. I replied to it and it appeared at the top. it may be fixed, but I want to suggest that it be pinned, since it is very important.

DISCOVERY: File Formats, The Positioning formats (RUL, and Sc4path)
BBGun06 replied to Karybdis's topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
I found this thread by a search, but then looked back in the forum and discovered that it doesn't exist (insert creepy Twilight Zone music here) this post is a test <edit> okay, It just appeared at the top of the list. Anyway, it needed to be bumped, its important. </edit> -
I am having the same problem in a region of over 500,000 people. The mod above won't fix it because its a demand problem, not a desirability problem Also, I did notice that hard cities have less commercial demand than easy ones, but in this case it doesnt seem to matter. All new cities I start have no C demand, and neither do my old ones.

What is the progress on the textures? I do all of my interchanges with oneway roads, but it doesnt always match up. Also, I would like to see tunnels and overpass pieces. If you need help, let me know. I'm trying to learn how to do modding.- 3,919 Replies

I only have school for 3 hours, in the morning. If I don't work, then I might play for 6-10 hours on SC4. I never used to do that on aother games, though. When my family was playing through the MYST series, my mom burned up the CD rom playing Riven for like 4 hrs straight!!! She not even a gamer, still plays AOE1, its really sad.

Which structure is the most efficient to educate your sims?
BBGun06 replied to simmax's topic in SC4 Showcase
One of the problems you may be having is that the age listed for a house is the average age. For instance, a hous has four people in it: two parents, age forty; and two kids, age ten. The average age is 25. The house produces two elementary school students. This is why 20-30 year olds go to school. Also, when a house grows old, the parents die and the kids live on. the average age for the house goes down. maybe someone can find out what the new age is. Maybe if the is no health care, the parents die at 40 and the kids are 20; and if the parents die at 60 then the kids are now 40? You can have young rich people when the parents die. All of my MySims get rich, complain, then die. their kids are still rich and complain just as much a their parents! I'm rambling, so I'll stop now -
Goldfish4209: yes, you just delete the ones you don't wan't, then you rebuild them. Although about a minute after i did this, a bunch of them reverted back to random textures!? some others: an underwater bridge! They use it too:
