SimCity (2013): Amusement Park DLC, Release Date: May 28, 2013

EA has confirmed funfair DLC for its controversial 2013 reboot of SimCity after it temporarily appeared on a retailer website.

While it was quickly removed, the SimCity Amusement Park Pack DLC briefly appeared on UK retailer Green Man Gaming.

The blurb for the expansion offered SimCity players the chance "build the amusement park of your dreams, right in the middle of your city." The description also offered "classic rides, vehicle rides and thrill rides."

"Will you focus [on] the aesthetic look or maximising your profits? Perhaps you can have the best of both worlds," concluded the description.

Following the leak, the official SimCity Twitter feed confirmed a May 28 release for the DLC.

"Some of you may have seen thrilling new #SimCity content that arrived too early at the gate. It’s coming May 28. We think you’ll be amused," wrote the account.

Simtropolis continuing it's anti-SimCity trend of deleting anybody that voices out against the constant wall of hate.

Don't make accusations like that unless you are prepared to back it up with evidence.

The moderators here at Simtropolis do exactly what their title says: Moderate. Even though they are each entitled to their own opinions, I have never seen any one of them let their personal bias affect their moderating decisions.

As to the front page news articles... I haven't seen any pro-Simcity articles published anywhere. So I don't know how you can blame Simtropolis for not posting about articles that don't exist.

Fans want amusement park.  Fans get amusement park.  Fans complain.

How the heck did you get "We want amusement parks!" out of "We want bigger maps and an offline mode!"?

Yeah, as far as I'm concerned, EA will not be getting any DLC money out of me until I see bigger maps and modding.  I want offline mode, but I have faith that somebody will figure that out in due time, or at least figure out a way to backup our games somehow.  Offline ranks3rd out of those three priorities.

I don't see that happening.  Look, the game failed to live up to peoples' expectations and it was a flawed/rushed release. Just because Simtropolis is a huge fansite doesn't mean they are supposed to be waving pom-poms around and pretending everything is okay.  They are not SimCity.com, and it's not their job to sell SimCity to the masses or gloss over things.

I think the Simtropolis staff has been very even-handed.  I participate on a few other games' fansites, and I've seen similar situations where a new game in a franchise is announced/released, and it was a disaster or had serious problems, and those sites' staffs basically turned their backs on the game.  Simtropolis staff on the other hand, have tended to be a lot more even-handed than the situation calls for.

Of course, it's all subjective.  What I see as even-handed, you may see as biased one way or the other.

What's this supposed to be, a ripoff of RCT? This is starting to get out of hand, the game's SimCITY, and any development should focus on that. I suppose a few amusement park addons may be interesting, but it's completely inappropriate to create a DLC just for the purpose of this.

What you see is what you get.  EA's interest in SimCity is very small considering the success of its other titles.  Our interest on this site is city building games.

If EA had any sense they would announce a new SimCity 2015 game and get to work, basing their specifications on what has happened with this current fiasco.

DRM and Always On Line is a complete failure and they should know that by now.  City building games are usually a solo effort and trying to make it into a MP game is rather odd.

Look at the number of City Journals in SC4 and earlier, and explain to me how you can do this  with SimCity 2013 if you can't get local saves.  It is sometimes necessary to be able to back up to an earlier save and rerun to get a specific point for a screenshot.  How do you do that if the saves are on a server and there is a limited number of slots?

Poor EA.  They've bitten a wooden leg, and their teeth hurt.

You know, I'd actually settle for a real SimCity 4 version 2.0 that is simply reworked for multi-tasking and modern machines.  They still have the source (maybe?), and it should be about a year's task for a couple of hot programmers to do this.  No changes except fix known bugs, and make it multi-task to get more oomph out of multi-core machines.

I don't know whether any of the original programmers are still with them.  If not, then the job might take 18 months including the learning curve.

If they fixed bugs or broken game concepts at the speed they released dlc until now, the game would be playable atm, and the sim wouldn't be as broken as it still is.

Good to see what EA priorities are, and that my hate about them since the game release was perfectly legit.

Not true - there was even a banner at this site advertising the new game, and there's a lot of threads about it on the forums. Don't mix the admins' work with the personal views of the community.

Look, we were told we want something we don't, lied to, fed a lot of BS, treated as potential pirates/thieves or actual homophobes; our opinions were ignored, and in the end we got a game that struggles to even work properly.

So what do you expect - love?

I still have not returned to this game after the initial two weeks I played it lol... Pretty sure there will be no room for these shiny things to fit in the city anyway.

I dont care about anything, EA can take all my money for more simcity.

    I am EA's target market

Don't know if serious or just joking...

Serious, EA only cares about making money, so if no-one buy's their dlc, they won't make enough money and they will shut the server's.

Helsinki: So, instead of complaining about the scandalous online drm like everyone, you embrace it, caution it, and even want to be milked more?

You shouldn't have to buy dlc to sustain servers, since this game shouldn't require servers.

So, are you ironising or are you a good sheep to EA that makes them everytime think their tactic succeeded and so make worse next time ? If you're in the last situation, you should really rethink... It's that kind of behaviour that leads with more and more scandalous tactics with time, the more people like this there is, the more doomed is the video game future.

What will be next ? and EULA into a game allowing the company to rape and kill you if you do something they don't want you to ?

    and OM@^#*@&^#DLCFAIL!!

So i'm supposed to place this where? (if I had the game, which i'm glad I didn't buy) The empty layer where the resources are? Certainly not on the bigger maps you provided, oh wait.

    WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?

I'm really surprised EA has released this addition when the game in it's current state isn't even playable. Besides real world amusement parks take up alot of space and could easily fill up or surpass our current city size of 2x2km. EA hasn't sold alot of copies of Simcity but they could remedy this if they simply reworked the city size to 8x8 like in Cities in Motion 2. I think 8x8km is still too small given it's 2013 and alot has changed with hardware since SC4 first came out. Sorry EA you get a thumbs down and I keep my money.

Everytime I see these pictures I think of Roller Coaster Tycoon designers and engineers. They must be rolling on the floor laughing.

Ironically these comments are probably coming from the same individuals who once downloaded the MAPP ( Amusment park plopables ) for Sim City 4.  Talk about your hypocrital statements if there is any truth to that statement.

So far the only complaints I see here are about city size, yes it's small we know that.  That horse has beaten dead 4x over.  The fact that they're releasing DLC such as this shows that EA has obviously done their homework.  Now we just need some modular airport and railyard dlc packs to satisfy our wants.

I completely agree. Most of the commentators here are making ridiculous statements. Someone complaining you can't play the game either doesn't have it, or has it and doesn't know how to play it. And if you don't know how to play it, it's not an EA or Maxis issue. You can take that however you want to.

I picked up this DLC and it's pretty fun. It adds a different dimension to city building. I hope they come out with more.
