    Leaked pre-visualization SimCity 5 trailer

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BoKT25S2yJU

(Joystiq.com) This may be our first up-close and personal look at the still-rumored SimCity 5, or at least its debut trailer. Pre-visualization trailers like this serve as rendered storyboards, hence its distinct lack of actual motion, and are used by directors as a cinematic roadmap.

It also gives us a glimpse of the game's roadmap, both literally and figuratively, by showcasing the layout of a simulated city and placing SimCity 5's release date in 2013. It's worth noting that the number five is mysteriously lacking from the title's logo, which may indicate a series reboot, rather than a sequel, should this end up being legitimate.

Thankfully, we'll only have to wait a couple of days to find out if this trailer is The Real Deal with Bill McNeal, as EA and Maxis' GDC event takes place this Tuesday.

I wish I was older so I could stop myself from being excited about this... my spirits will be crushed if it's not real :(

Eventually a games going to get replaced and progress Sgt. Pepper. Otherwise why would Simcity 4 even exist. Its that natural progression which makes better games and communities. Stagnation does none of us any good.

Not to say I even believe this is Simcity 5 or that is whats going to be annouced. Im simply speaking in terms of development. Id say 10 years is plenty long for Simcity 4.

Sure a lot of work and dedication has been put into our works, but its time to move on. I am not completely for Simcity 5 until they show the actual gameplay. Until then, I will be lurking topics of Simcity 5.

Oh man this worries me... The whole SimCorp thing... or Commerce vs Industry... Looks like SimCity Societies all over again :-( Or maybe it's some kind of facebook thing...

I only care about 3 things that SC5 should have included:

1- Game play does NOT change at all

    2- Improved graphics

3- Include more buildings and some of the things SC4 should have got the 1st time around (more network types, etc.)

    Giggity Giggity Goo!

Seeing the "Maxis" name and "Simland" and "Simcorp" plastered all over the screenshots has re-enforced my hopes...this really could be the SC5 that we've all been waiting for!

Even more convincing that this is real, is the last slide. On this slide, if you look closely at the bottom, you can see the copyright symbol, a date, and the name Electronic Arts. If this were not to be real, EA surely would of pounced on it as a legal infringement. Besides, who would copyright something they made for someone else?

It's also been taken down now, apparently due to a "copyright claim by EA".

Or Wednesday. I'm still not 100% certain what the "GameChangers" event will entail, but the Wednesday morning "Inside the GlassBox" presentation will definitely answer questions.

The "GameChangers" event is tomorrow night. We don't know just what they're announcing there, however. There's speculation it'll be the new SimCity, but that's it's not 100% certain. I think the "GlassBox" presentation the next morning will definitely have information about it if nothing is revealed on Tuesday.

Am I the only one that finds it odd that there's actual english text on the buildings, such as "SIMCORP"? That's always been taboo in past Sims and SimCity games. English was never used on items in the game.

It could just be stand-in text (instead of writing "example" on the buildings). Many companies do this sort of thing, especially in concept drawings, which are what these images are.

EA kind of confirmed it for us that this is real. I'm now 90% sure that it is.

I like the idea of different looking cities as an option, it makes it more user friendly for more types of people. As long as Maxis doesn't deviate much from the original SC mechanics, I'm all for this.

Can't wait for the official statement! Don't let us down Maxis! GDC Timer and Live Stream
