Parque De La Brea

thefunktopus: Thanks for the comment! I haven't seen much rolling stock-ism here, so I thought I would try something new. Thats the whole point of this journal, really Mithrik: Thanks for the comment, I am glad you like it!TekindusT: Thanks for the comment, my friend! I just rode the Acela last month (to New York, to rub it in to you more ) so I am in the railroad set of mind. About the two Palomino's, you didn't see anything! (the top one should be Sophanem, the bottom one is still Palomino).cmdp123789:...

Nights in La Brea

Simsamerica: Thanks for the comment. I replied to you in advance... Wacky32: Thanks for the comment. No comments. Really guys? DCMetro34: Thanks for the comment, I am glad you liked it! sepen20: Thanks for the comment. My computer is really bad (but I am getting a new one soon! Yahoo!) so unfortunatley I can not turn up my graphics anymore than I have. The overlay textures are a different problem I think though, but I can't confirm that (see in CSGforums, CoastRunner's reply, that might answer your...

TABLE OF CONTENTS I've had this second page of my journal reserved for "Documents and Files" which was planned to be my downloadable content. I haven't used it all that much and most of my downloadable content is now in the journal itself. With that said, as I approach 60 entries, I think it would be nice to have an organized table of contents. NOTE: Well, this got bumped to the top... which was not what I was expecting sorry for the inconvenience. You can still look through this, but it's not a new update...

I haven't done a transportation update in a while so I figured today would be a good day to do one. Only this time in New Chandler City. I've been working on the east side like update 42 and today will take you on a train ride across the entire large city tile It's monsoon season though so it's going to be a bit rainy. By the way if you ask if I took names from GTA or NYC, the answer is yes Alderney is the southernmost station on this city tile. Burlesque South. The 7A joins us here, which spurs off toward...

In case you were not aware, my Simlympic bid that made up entry 48 was not the winner. I'm not going to lie, I'm a little surprised myself, but on the flipside, I get to go a new direction for New Chandler, while someone else gets to enjoy the privilege of hosting that I had a year ago I've been showing a lot of huge cities recently and I think I'm going to go rural for a while. If you have ANY suggestions about farms please give me them because I haven't used them since the Parringshire update (#25) of...

My last update was my most viewed update EVER in my many years of city journalism here at Simtropolis, with over 1200 hits as I'm writing this one. For the second week in a row, there's no teaser! It's not as big as my previous update but it does have two mosaics so it might take a little while to load. As always thanks for your support and I hope you enjoy this update! I think it's going to be my last one for a while because I've FINALLY exhausted Murray City and Carla Vista of content to show in the...

Merry Christmas!

Thank you very much for a great year city journaling, I got a trixie because of it! I couldn't have done it without the people who have followed me from the beginning. Here is a short fireworks show from the Regal District in New Chandler City for Christmas. I would suggest going to Youtube and watching this in HD, by the way, instead of the little player thing. I am very sorry for the poor sound quality

Here's a teaser to Update 52. We're going due north of the Airport across a few miles of mountains to a very unique valley. I have to note to my viewers not around two and a half years ago that the original Doherty in New Chandler 2.0 was practically all grown; in fact, I didn't even know the buildingplop cheat existed I'm guessing about 90% of everything in Doherty and Doherty's suburbs will be grown by the game this time. My goal is a realistic balance of the mass transit system and the road system...

Lake Martinazzi

I'll start with a mosaic of Lake Martinazzi, one of the nine lakes in the Heritage Lakes National Park in Benham. Martinazzi is the second-smallest in the expansive park, but is nestled in a lush valley in New Chandler's highest mountain range, the Cameron Range. The mosaic is a little bit on the pixelated side, sorry about that. The lake has rocky shores... And just as many sandy ones. This place has plenty of natural wildlife, just like the rest of the area. Martinazzi has got places to cook some s'mores...

Yes! I'm still alive! This update should've been ready a month ago, but you all know how it is. This is my first small town in a while so hopefully you enjoy San Urbano is the name of a town surrounding what is probably the largest oasis in the Nahazzan Desert, a massive dusty plain going across the north of the country, and extending far north beyond that. Saint Pope Urban is the namesake of this town; his life is mysterious, similar to the life of the oasis that the town depends on. The Old Town, as well...

I was going to show parts of the Don Fierro District (there's glimpses of it early in this update) but the driving updates seem to be popular - and with Bayview and most of North Doherty looking presentable, I thought I should show it off with a highway update As always the plants are all hand-placed by me. Enjoy update 63 folks! We will start our drive on the hills north of Don Fierro Bay on Highway 1, and work our way south toward the heart of Doherty. Though this exit doesn't look busy now, during event...

ISC Session

TekindusT: Thanks for the comment, my friend! Well, I already had done the usual "K50 Dude Photo Style" where I pull up the brightness and contrast way up, so saturation didn't help all that much... Oh well, next time sepen20: Thanks for the comment. Actually, that is what I go off of. I just don't have Photoshop, I have GIMP, so everything is different. I am still learning Mithrik: Thanks for the comment! It probably would be the richest part of La Brea, but not the richest part of town. Glad you liked...

I've got a lot done with Murray City, my latest project. It's nestled between Carla Vista (update 52) and the Doherty City Proper, which will probably be my next projcet. Honestly, I've got enough for probably three updates (one freeway update, one transit update, and one regular one like this), which will be enough to keep this journal active for most of the next month. This city (except the downtown) is inspired by the Buckman and Hosford-Abernathy Districts of Portland. I'm shooting for a lot of...

Introduction to Ankeny Atoll

I said in the last entry that I'd be showing some real-life comparisons of New Chandler City and its real-world inspirations..... ...well, I accidentally deleted the region New Chandler City is in... so that's not going to happen The good news is that New Chandler City had its own region, so it was the only city that got wiped out. Rockaway, Galanos, Darlington City, San Clemente City, Lake Martinazzi, and Phoebe (the other NC III places so far) are okay because they share three or four separate regions...

Introduction

You haven't seen something like this journal before... I can assure you that. I have been gone from City Journaling for three months now, looking at several city journals from several websites. Today, I present you with my new region, New Chandler. Areas in New Chandler will be built differently than each other (I have one area that will be natural growth, I have one area that will be very much based on user voting, etc.). Some are built off of the design of cities I have visited in real life (New York and...

Help Me Build West Avondale!

Tekindus, about that red building, it was going to be a ministry office to something, but now it won't be shown again because it's a different region. Mithrik, it grew on me, but I thought it looked nice It's kind of been a while. This update isn't my best, but this is the first update from New Chandler 2.0, so you get a little taste of things. Just for giggles, something I did with a few trees and god mode terraforming, sort of a crater lake but only about thirty feet deep.... This is called SimCity for...

Garden Grove, Part Two

If you like suburbia, boy do I have the update for you... There's a lot of nooks and cranies of Garden Grove I felt like showing again. Here's a few all-new pictures for all of you. East Egg High School, an affluent area, as the name suggests. Along the shores of the Royal River here. By the bridge... A commercial area. The west end of University Avenue. Irvington University is at the bottom of this picture, you saw it in the last update. Jonesmore District, and Jonesmore High School, which takes in a lot...

Garden Grove, Part One

One of the largest districts in Doherty is Garden Grove, which straddles the north shore of the Royal River, one of several rivers in the Doherty city limits. The southeast edge of the district... which is a pretty affluent area. These blocks are filled with college students attending the nearby Irvington University. University Avenue splits the campus. More of University Avenue. North of campus. More dense area... This area is known as the Irvington Crossroads, it is filled with apartments rising out of...
