LOS ANGELES - AROUND THE CITY

Downtown Los Angeles rises from endless suburbs with the tallest skyscrapers west of the Mississippi River.

Just a few steps from downtown is Frank Gehry's contribution to the city, the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

More tall buildings in downtown and the Pasedena Freeway, surprisingly empty in this picture.

The Dodger Stadium is just north of downtown and can see large crowds coming to catch a game (or the home run ball).

The most iconic landmark of Los Angeles, the simple but iconic Hollywood Sign.

LA's rich citizens have started building in the Hollywood Hills. Quiet streets curve through the hills lined with expensive mansions.

Not all parts of LA are pretty, however. The LA River has become an ugly industrial wasteland, it's best not to hang around here for too long.
