Hello Everyone, welcome back, today we are going to take a quick look at the source of the region's wealth, Hero Peaks and more importantly what is located within. There is a very rich vein of a very rare element...sorry we don't know what it is, that has been kept secret. This of course has led to conspiracy theories that range from the alchemists stone to some chemical that produces superhuman powers, but Mayor Lee has vigorously denied these rumors especially the superhuman powers formula.

01 Above you can see one of the "undercover" trains carrying some of the special freight near some of the lower industrial area.

03 Not sure where to start so.. here is a train station

06 Let's take a look around from a little further back

07 You can see the town is small the Truck Stop off the highway takes up most of the space in town

08 This is an old city, one of the first I started working on in the Mountain North Region, I tried to keep some of these older cities but touched the up a bit. There was a lot of reworking of slopes using slope mods and in the end the buildings in this picture and the truck stop were the only things not demolished and rebuilt.

11 The High Rail, hard to see but you can see the tunnel coming out of the mountain, the rail then smoothly slopes down and around till it passes near the train station seen above.

13 Here we can see a train coming into town to get loaded up

14 We can see it pass a passenger train near the hotels, a couple of them in town as some workers come in from other parts to work and there are plenty of truck drivers needing a nice place to spend the night from time to time.

15 A small area that I reworked so much I had to just stop at one point

17 Now for a quick sneaky look at the mine

00rSOPa.jpg

18 Since the mining company already had the equipment they went ahead and created an area for a rail yard at the mine entrance for faster loading. Production is not major as far as we know but then again when I was talking to the mayor he stayed quiet but someone in his office said "Stan will never admit to anything as long as he is mayor"

Cool entry Phil , you incorporated so many of my favorite things in this update . Trains , mines , secrets and conspiracies . All in one SC4 CJ entry . Not to mention , several nice images to boot . And one more thing , never admit anything . Make them prove it .

You really are good with mountain work, I must say!  I really like the tunnels and, one other thing I've noticed with your mountain work is how well you handle switchbacks.  They look very natural and not "forced", even the smaller ones in other entries I've seen of yours.  What slope mod do you use, out of curiosity?  It seems very forgiving.  And, also, in pic #15 what are those retaining walls?  Great stuff here, Phil!  I always enjoy seeing your work :thumb:

@raynev1  Thanks Buddy, I'm glad someone else can appreciate conspiracies, there should be more to the story coming up in some of the future entries. We're going to try and get some more interviews with the mayors of the region to see if we can't get some more info on what is actually going on in the Northeast corner of the region.

@airman15 Thank you, is the fact it is all on a slope visible?

@korver  Thank you, can you tell it is on a slope?

@MeMyself&I Thanks glad you like it. I only use the RHW slope mod (which I don't remember but think comes as part of the NAM but I also downloaded it from a thread I believe on SC4D, I'll see if I can find the link) and I use the BTM slope mod that can be found on the STEX. I do not have any other slope mods installed. You know it's a good question and I have a technique I use so let me explain bare with me.  So as far as I can tell and understand the game only has two small "slope mods" one is that on some occasions the basic rail will make a very small adjustment to a slope at the top and/or bottom few tiles when dragging downhill. The maxis highway also makes a smooth slope when dragging it downhill however it is quite severe. Sometimes I use these little ones to connect two other slopes or to finish off one that might be ending a little higher than I need.  The RHW slope mod works only with the RHW so when that is dragged it forms a tighter smoother slope, the BTM or Bullet Train Mod slope mod is the most severe and makes the lowest slope, since no other road or street has a slope mod they drag at the normal crazy bumpy maxis roads. I tend to use the BTM for rails but when it gets extra steep I switch over to the RHW which you can see in use in picture 21. When using the RHW slope mod however if you continue to drag and connect various slopes it will drop the entire highway so a lot of times I end up dragging smaller sections and then delete them place road then back to RHW to connect them.

The walls are from Mas71 and can be found on SC4D  Here: https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1504

Make sure to look around his collection there are more.

ohh and here is a pic I left out you might like, I didn't like what I would need to do to it to be able to put up fences as guardrails without activating the sidewalks, so this is a dangerous road.

Now that is what we call a "Jake Brake" road!  Who needs guardrails? :hmph:  You do, however, need a whole lot of gears - all low!!  Great stuff!  Thanks for the info.  Whatever slope mods and techniques you use they definitely work.  I use Ennedi's slope mod on medium most of the time but I have to change it to high to work on steep grades.  I haven't done anything like this though.  Someday, maybe when I learn patience :whatevs: but I will have to try some more techniques like yours.  Your mountain development and rural roads are very inspiring!  And I'm with @raynev1 , can't wait to see where the conspiracy lies!

Mountaniious map gives a feeling like a model railroad; rrw conversion makes it more natural, high trees mostly hide elevations, great logistic network, business enterprises and mmp use, well done !
