2016-02-21_00014.thumb.jpg.eaeaeaff40cb9Once again, the colours are off. I would classify it as medium-density.

Default Stats

  • Zone: Residential Low-density
  • Level: 2 (medium-wealth cims)
  • Lot size: 1x2 (can expand to 1x4)

Default Colour Variations & Illumination

There is nothing wrong with the colour variations.

Improved Textures

I darkened the roof and desaturated the colour of the wood elements:

Something out back (garden, gravel/pavement), maybe a container around the side if it fits? You pretty much did what needed to be done for this one, and it's one of the better ones. :)

Maybe some red or brown roof would also look good. I'm not sure about the dark grey.

Variety is the spice of life. Give the model variations with a medium grey, brown, and dark red roof. More texture variety makes for less annoying repetition. You could even give each roof color variation a different sized lot (1x2-->medium grey, 1x3--> medium, desaturated brown, 1x4-->your dark roof, 1x5--> dark red, 2x3 --> dark brown).

5) Suggestions for improvement: A small backyard would be nice, might look too cramped without one!

As for the roof colour, I think dark grey looks good with the current colour variations. If you made the roof red or brown the wall colours wouldn't match well. If you know a way to make wall and roof colours random and still match, go ahead!

I'm wondering if there's a way to tell you that I feel like this should be medium zone density (by SC4 standards)? Your current density classification only allows me to rate a building referring to city size, not zone density. But on the other hand I don't know if you need zone density information at all. Other than that, great project!

Edit: Just saw your plans for the density classification, I'll adapt my posts to that.

5) Suggestions for improvement: Could we mirror this and make it a semi-detach !? I like this one. It is maybe a bit narrow, but I saw way worst IRL. It really needs a driveway in front of its garage door and a backyard with cedar hedge or picket fence. The lot feel empty.

I guess we could. It might look good in combination with similar lots, we already reviewed some of them.

5) Suggestions for improvement:

The dark gray roof isn't too bad I feel like it contrasts well with the white frames, but variety is always a good thing, neutral colors would be suitable, like greyish-dark green.

I second this. At least then it actually feels like medium density that can fit 3~5 households.

Did you upload your save game to the workshop? It's spring break so I could alter models (eg turn this semi-detached) if I had 1 copy of each building on one map.
