2016-01-27_00046.thumb.jpg.58788cf4c54b3This is one of the buildings I hate the most. It is classified as Level 1, so it instantly spawns when there is an unoccupied zone.

The 3-storey building only has a 1x2 base. Maybe the region is Japan?

Default Stats

  • Zone: Residential Low-density
  • Level: 1 (low-wealth cims)
  • Lot size: 2x2 (can expand to 2x4)

Default Colour Variations & Illumination

Yellow, Red, Green, Blue! No way to get rid of the green borders and the violet canopy...

Improved Colour Variations

Not much to improve here...

Improved Textures & Colour Variations

I removed the green, desaturated all the terracotta elements, the red door and the canopy:

Bonus Shots

I tried to find similar assets. Doesn't look too bad:

5) Suggestions for improvement:

In my opinion the prop/deco(incl. canopy, concrete-fence, rain-gutter) nailed the typical SEasian working-class residence, so.. high points for that. I've seen these types of homes in rural Japan as well but less in more urban parts. The ones found in urban areas tend to be narrower, without a porch & no fencing. These are much more common in southeast asia, both in farming areas & working class suburbs and usually have 3-4 households, a family, cousins, grandparents, housemaid, etc..

Anyway in terms of suggestions, i'd say there's not much to do left, probably reduce the amount of lit windows, add an a/c prop on the roof? If a player intends to make an asian themed city then I'd say this building is not all that bad because it is a pretty accurate depiction.

Helped alot to make the green brown instead. Seems much more natural. I don't really have any ideas for improvement.

The light colour is completely random, there is no way to control it ;)

I feel with you, though I think that It could work as a theme with similar buildings, like in the bonus shots.

To me this one looks kind of childish.

5) Suggestions for improvement: I could well see this grow in, for instance, an Israel-themed city as it is now. I'd even say it feels more Mid-Eastern / Oriental rather than Japanese (Might be the colour though!)

If my eyes didn't play tricks on me the light map for window illumination can be replaced in the map theme editor. Don't hit me if I'm wrong!

@Kaschperl You are right, with the new colors, it really looks like from the Middle East:

Amman_Citadel.jpg

I would love to see a Middle East theme...
