Smallville : Water, water everywhere

1.The youngest Zabnis, groomed to become mayor after her father, is Cora, the Elder Zabnis' grand-daughter, who's been the town's mascot since a very early age. But she's not one for nepotism. She studied successfully as an engineer and landscape designer. She's begun to work for the city in the Park & Recreation Department and is making her way up from the trenches, so to speak -- at some point she worked on the dredging of a few swamps. One she replaced by a small but welcome rustic amusement park in the middle of town, Cora's Play Pond :

2. The other she tried to keep as much as possible in a natural state and it is now Cora's Park (both names were put up to a city-wide vote and those are the names which won).

4. But there is are still plenty of places left where Cora Zabnis will be able to exercise her knack for taming waters, as the city grows :

5.  Some she will left as is, I guess

Cora's Pond is indeed amazing! Did you use the Jenx Poseidon mod to alter the water texture or plop water in?

I also like how you roll with the PEG MMPs and water, and positively run away with it making a veritable feast for the eyes!

Pictures 5 and 9 are my favourites. 5 because of the forest meadow and 9 for the elevated ground underneath the railway.

Finally the MMP work in the last two pictures is some smooth stuff integrating both water, rock and flora MMPs.

Thank you, Speedy Ones !:-) You have good eyes, apparently ! I very much regret that I hadn't kept all the pngs for that town, so had to fall back on some smallish pictures (800 instead of 1024 !)

I'm (not) sorry to say I just named Cora's Pond -- I had nothing else to do with it ; it is in fact one of (many) Master Paeng's addons for PEG's MTP mod (Paeng's Pond Park); he used Peg's pond for the water and added stuff:-) And while I am peddling Paeng's wares, I assume everybody knows of his amazing Free Waters plugin which makes plopping MMPs all over almost any water much, much easier .http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/26556-paengs-free-waters/.Check also his Turbulences lots for that streams and waterfall. http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/26557-paengs-turbulences-vol-02/ and his Pond Transitions (for Peg's streams and ponds ; (unfortunately they seem to have disappeared from the STEX ?)

There sure is a lot of water in and around town. Would I be right in if I said it's your favorite thing to work with? :)  Really like the waterfall and the swamp by the rail line. Also I notice your street roundabout doesn't have a center island. I don't recall that being an option in the nam, is that a separate mod or lot?

I suppose I tend to reproduce what I see around me where I live -- slightly embellished:-) But that whole Eden Bay region was made for me by my companion, as a challenge (in fact, where we live -- just exaggerated !) , with lots of hills, and rivers and streams and swamps (all plop water) and I had to deal with it. (Thank the SC4 goddess, VIP Girafe became active around that time, ad well as Paeng's Free Waters !:-) I cursed that challenge more than once -- but then again as in all art (!?!), necessity becomes the mother of invention. As for the roundabout... oh my, it was (shshsh, don't tell!) the NAM 30 version, at the time. You mean they all have a central island now ? I really should try it..-)

PS : :party:hey, 4000+ views ! Thanks, everybody !

Lovely pictures, such a wild feel to them, the town lives in it's environment, rather than the environment being sculpted around the town. Also, where do you come up with the names? They are reminiscent of the characters of Iain M. Banks, and that's a definite compliment :)

(Ah, a fellow Scificionado ?:-) Well I'm an SF writer, like P. R. Crastina, so, yes, sometimes it shows. Thank you, and yes again, I'd like a more balanced relationship between where humans live and where the rest of the animals do. I wish we could do such future townscapes in SC4 (not UberCitiescapes:-). Terring made a valiant and quite successful effort to try and imagine what that kind of future might look like (the Barsoom project) ; there is also the Ecological Community Trail Parks... But mostly we get Bigger, Higher, Flashier (and commercial). More, when what we need is different.

Oops, sorry, getting down from my soap box.

I downloaded the Barsoom project, there were some really nice things in there but not enough variety in other similar buildings to really make it worth building a style around it, and the crazy SimMars buildings looked strange in my city full of Georgian Townhouses.

Totally agree about needing different though :)
