All that long bridge to go to nowhere but a poor empty island? That bridge must be worth the trip
Besides there will be a problem to make it really work to connect your city to the rest of the cities on the other side, you will have to enter each city that have a part of the bridge each time, and maybe it will work.

Anyway I like the idea, can't wait to see more developement

sounds like a similar project Canada did in the early 1900's only it was railroad to connect BC to the rest of Canada at the time because they wanted to jjoin but had to go through British territory. There's my history lesson for this evening
