What the, how can you even justify almost all of these games being no older then a few years? from 1976 until 2000 there has been none other then blake stone? I somehow doubt your logic, mind you simcity series could have been on the list, but almost all of these ones in your cat will be unplayable or forgotten in a few years. Best games of all time is different from your favourite games.

In retrospect i can see halo series getting in the top 20, and Metal gear had a few games before metal gear solid, but no one plays them and the liberty one was pretty full of itself with nothing to offer, so i left them out.

I could switch river city ransom for the GTA series i suppose, only because i like the series from 2 on.

Most sports games, i dont feel justified in adding to the list, as they tend to be more of an example of graphics then gameplay, and every year there are more with updated rosters, its more of a simulation then a game.

And Simcity not making it to the list.... The creator of simcity has even said it is not a game, games have a goal and then they are done, simcity is a toy.

I forgot to mention that Halo 2 (and the original, but not nearly as much so) are at the very bottom of my games list.  They are, however, the most overrated games of all time.  People who like them have never played a *real* FPS.  (In general.  If this isn't you, cool; I don't really care, lol.)

I like the idea of favorite music from a game; this is my favorite part of games!  It's a three-way tie between SimCity 4 Rush Hour, Ninja Gaiden, and UT2004.  Coming in second would be C&C Generals.  From what I've heard so far, Gran Turismo 4's music might steal the #1 spot.

And Duke: thanks a bajillion for the link!
    That's awesome!

In music terms i say homeworld 2 is in top, final fanstasy 3/6 in second and civ3 in third

The first one because I simply LOVE the music themes from the progenitors and the penultimate level...
Final Fantasy 3/6 had some great music for it's level (SNES)
and CIV 3 has some of the best theme musics I have...

This is simple for me. Zelda: The Ocarina of Time (N64)

That game is simply amazing, and the music is some of the best I've ever heard. Anyone agree?

If you want to get into the Duke nukem 3d, which probably gets honourable mention, you technically have to give the point to wolfenstein, since it started the whole genre off.

Xcom is the only game i know of that came out in the 80's that still has a following today.

Total annihilation should however, get an honourable mention also, for as simple as it appears to be, it has to be the best all rouind rts game there is, with probably the best pathfinding and ai around (can you get through a maze with one click? they can)

And I would have to say, that after 2000, games have become more and more about graphics and less about fun and gameplay, so i refuse to add any game past that to the list, cept for the francises.

And I, and the creator of simcity, still say its a toy and not a game.

Well, I'm glad to see my favorite game is getting on yall's lists....

    1. GoldenEye 007 (Nintendo 64 (obviously my favorite game))

    2. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 (Microsoft Xbox)

    3. Super Mario Brothers 1 (Nintendo Entertainment System)

    4. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64)

    5. Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64 also)

    6. Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec (PlayStation 2)

    7. Gran Turismo 4 (PlayStation 2)

    8. Star Wars: The Clone Wars (Microsoft Xbox)

    9. The Ol-skool Legend of Zelda (Nintendo Entertainment System)

    10. 007: Agent Under Fire (PlayStation 2)

Suckiest Games Ever Made: (thanks for the idea demax)

    10. Mario Kart 64 (Nintendo 64)

    9. Mario Tennis (Nintendo 64 again)

    8. Mario Party 1 (Nintendo 64 over again)

    7. Mario Party 2 (Nintendo 64 also)

    6. Mario Party 3 (Nintendo 64 once more)

    5. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (Nintendo 64 (heck, I must be Playa' Hata #1))

    4. Bigfoot (Nintendo Entertainment System (shouldn't have made it so dang hard!))

    3. The Sims (PC and PlayStation 2 (totally sucky, don't flame me for it))

    2. Tetris Worlds (Microsoft Xbox (It's Tetris on an Xbox. Sucky. (We're almost at number one!!!!!)))

And, of course, the most Sucktacular game ever: *drumroll*

    1. The entire freakin' Halo series!!!!! It is so Sucktastic! (Microsoft Xbox, obviously)

So as you can see, I'm more inclined to old-skool games, and James Bond games. GoldenEye has the best menu music EVER. I leave my N64 on the menu sometimes just to break the silence with that cool-type music. Oh by the way, HALO SUCKS!!!14.gif I used to like it, but it sucks now.

Actually, Wolfenstein 3D was made by the same guys that later made Duke Nukem 3D, which was a much better game. Why? Well, despite the fact that Duke Nukem killing aliens is much cooler than some guy killing Nazis, there's the issue of actual 3D-ness. Wolfenstein 3D and Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold both had 3D looking environments, but neither actually had any up and down. No jumping, and no aiming up or down. Duke Nukem 3D was really the first game to do that.... of course, you can argue that since the game uses sprites, it's still not fully 3D (It is a tad freaky how all the enemies and smaller objects are always facing you). However, if you require polygonal graphics to fit put into that category, your first truly 3D games are the original releases on the PSX and N64. but if you do that, I'll go and say that no game really yet made is 3D, since they're all still played on a flat screen. You don't have the environment around you. And I think I've rambled enough about this now.

Bottom line: The Duke Nukem series is much better than Wolfenstein. Period.

If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.

I can't think of an entire top ten list, but I think that Super Mario Bros. on the NES has to be #1. The game puts other classics to shame because it is still fun after twenty years, and it is probably the game most reponsible for the popularity of video games today.

@bobinator-you not only play Airport Tycoon but enjoy it? I could never get an airport to turn a profit, and my guess is taht once I did I would be enthralled in the game for months. I still have it and may try it again. Any tips?

Hahaha, no sir.  Because what little of a story the game does have, it's WAY too short.  The multiplayer, the most hyped part of the game, is lackluster and dull.  The possibilities are way too limited to have much fun for more than maybe a month, if you have 16 players every time.  I'd just as soon play a PC game with 64 and better detail, more possibilities, more weapons, and that sort of thing.  No single player campaign, maybe, but don't use that as a down point, because Halo 2's is so short it just doesn't cut it for me.

Here are mine. Actually, there are a fair number of these games I haven't or don't play, but I know what makes a game, even if I don't play the genre or don't have the console.

    1. Javanoid (The flash game. So incredibly simple, so easy, but will ever hold a place in my heart).
    2. The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion (Not released, based on screens and previous Elder Scrolls games).
    3. Sim City 4 (If I'm posting at this site, well...)
    4. Star Craft (Greatest RTS ever in my opinion, at least for its age. Beautifully made).
    5. The Mario + Mario Related Empire (I would say the most induring and loved game character ever. The craziest world, but that's what makes it great).
    6. Halo Games (I've never actually played these, but I've been impressed with what I've seen, and their impact on society is undeniable).
    7. Black and White (Never played this either, but I've heard some very goof things about it).
    8. Pokemon Series (The series itself may have died, but the impact it created never will).
    9. Civilization (Never played, but never heard a single thing bad about it. Amazing game from all I've seen).
    10. Tony Halk's Skater Series (Only played a demo version of two, but by gosh, its the only sports game I've ever enjoyed. Extremely well done, and always a fun one).
