hold your horses. I do Trunite WITH max 7. I downloaded JasonCW's rigs then recreated them exactly in Max 7. I do have access in Max 8 but sometimes the pivot transform relationship of my geometry from Max 7 makes Mental Ray crash in Max 8 - so I still do everything scanline which is why my buildings do not look as crisp and breathable as Jason CW's does (he's also has a better texture library). If you want I will rig up a swift tut and send you my camera scenes.

Simfox's alterations to the Bat4Max scripts dont really work for me either - but that is because I mostly do stuff in 7.

One thing Simfox does better than me is his nightwindows, I am using self illuminated textures but he actually uses a light (sometimes) - what the params are and what kind of light he uses I don't know.

I never use lights for windows - that would be horrible overburdening of the computer for really nothing.... All my night windows are textures.

What alternations don't work in Max7?? Since I don't have access to oldre versions of Max (prior to max2k8) I have no way to test them...

bei allem eigtl, ausser modeln wie gesagt, das kann ich nicht 9.gif, ich helfe immer gern, und erstrecht bei diesem geiln projekt.

ansonsten find ichs geil das du dir ein paar tage zeit nimmst um weiter dran zu arbeiten, immer weitermachen andisart !!

    SimFox, as we are talking about nightwindows, I saw once that you rendered nightwindows that shed subtle light on the surroundings. Is there by chance a tut for this?

    Finally an update on the model: the backplaza is almost done and with this only bits and pieces left before modelling stage can be called DONE!!!

    the water texture is only a place-holder. I will consult the specialists here for some tips. but first I wanna finish the modelling part.

    this is incredible.

    the time you put into this is over the top, but every second is definitely worth it!

    just go on and eventually release it!

    I must say, good job on andisart for getting as far as he has, and I hope that the final product will make it into my city soon!

    Before embarking to the final leg of this odyssey I wanted to (finally) get clear if or if not I will ever bring this baby into the game in an acceptable way.  Since normal LODs are ruled out due to the size (obviously), I now tried a tip that was given here a few pages ago about splitting LODs by cutting them into pieces (thanks autovino! 2.gif).

    And I have great news! It works, and it works well 9.gif

    That means, YES, this baby WILL make it into the game! And I won't be forced to downsize it! 

    Yeeeeay!!!! I'm excited! 

    Here's a zoom 4 test render I made witht the unfinished model as it is as-of-now.  The tower itself is the main builing (LODs 1), the the base is split in 2 halfs (LODs 2 and 3). Merged together in the Lot Editor you can't see the edges anymore. It's great!

    Since I now can export the whole base tile (20x21) I can add more modelling at the edges like flora and also I was thinking to have flags of nations around the edge.  Any other ideas or proposals? 4.gif

    OMG. I was smiling all the time while reading your update andisart. This is definitely going to be THE download. Ideas. Yes. A fountain would fit in that big pool under the Burj. If it's not already in the bat. I have some pictures of the model if you are interested. I found them on skyscraper.com forum. But you probably already have them. Nevermind.

    andisart, I have to say that this is one truly outstanding project. Congrats on getting this far and well done in pursuing this project. This will definitely be your signature BAT on the stex. Keep it up.
