A great update. It is nice to see all components coming together-- streets, zoning, landscaping, pedestrian access. It takes great patience to get all of that running smoothly.

Oh, and shame on you! As soon as I saw that Chili's, I got hungry. Now, I suppose I will just have to go there!! Tsk tsk!! ;-)

You guys are so lucky, how I envy you. The other day I was talking to a friend that told me that when she was in school during winter, she and most of her colleagues use to go to school on their skis.

Here everyone go by car or bikes and usually at the entrance of the school we can see this big amount of bikes side by side, I can picture that friend of mine school entrance with this enormous ski rack fully loaded  44.gif

Anyway, I just can dream of it, and enjoy the most I can during that week or two I spend in Andorra or Sierra Nevada (Spain) every year.

Now back to your update, I really don't know what to say that I haven't said before and I hate to repeat myself, but, I love the way you build your cities, how you maximize every little corner, put in any little detail you can think of it, how you remember every little aspect that can improve your sims well being, like that path short-cutting the way on picture 18. How the hell you do that. The other day I asked someone if he would ever do a crap building/lot for a change, he said something like I never learned that before. How about you, will you ever show us some crappy stuff for a change. Nahhh, nor even on a nightmare 3.gif

Well, this has been a long post, for a change, see you next week my friend. Ah, get a snowmobile next time, it's easier to go on that deep and thick snow [linkie]

Cheers

Nice! One question: What trails did you use next to that stream? They remind me of Medieval Pachebel or an English Garden. *Peter rabbit theme song*

Hi John,

Man, Tonka trucks!  I haven't thought of those in years.  Sure does bring back memories.  I'm glad you still have your hat.  I ate mine a long time ago and had to get a new one.  I really like how the warehouse sector turned out.  BTW, just how many different fence lots do you have?  I thought I spent too much time with LE, but I am quite certain you have out-done me!  The night shot looks great.

James

As for the snow if you want some, I'd wish there was a way for us to send some your way.quote>

Yeah, with a time machine or something like that, that would be fun 3.gif But it would be easier if I just go to canada or a other cold destination. actually, we wanted to go to a place in Germany called 'Winterberg' last week, a place with some mountains which are almost always covert with snow during the winter. But unfortunately not this winter, so we didn't go. Many winter sport areas in Europe which are located on the smaller mountains don't have snow this winter. Anyway, nice update and like always, can't wait for the next one 3.gif

I hope next year it changes and by January every resort have a lot of snow, otherwise I'll be paying a visit to our friend John, or even David (Dedgren) in Alaska 9.gif

Since you went away the days grow long,

And soon I'll hear old winter's song,

But I miss you most of all, my darling,

When autumn leaves start to fall.

I miss you most of all, my darling,

When autumn leaves start to fall.

Ah, that's a sad one, isn"t it?  You're listening to Jazz Nightly here on Anôrien's Evening Star, KLIV.  It's a good night to grab your sweetie, and cozy up to the fire, because autumn leaves are falling, and temps will be a bit nippy tonight...

Hey, John, I guess there was spring, summer  and winter in the update as well.  It was a four seasons update.  Next we will have to throw in some classical offerings.

I've finally started feeling better.  I'm glad you have escaped this for a couple years, keep it that way!

The night pic of the towers did cheer me a bit.  I remember that teaser, it's all coming back to me.  A reader thought that the light pole behind the towers was a spaceship when it was shown zoomed out in a night overview.  I think your placement of the towers was on a nice hill as they often are.

I especially liked your walkway.  I always thought the lamp posts on that lighter path were awfully white, but you have changed them, haven't you?  I like your choice, they look classy, especially with that fence--your work as well, correct?  I think I will fire up the Lot Editor this weekend and go lamp post and fence shopping.

I will try to be less of a shirt tail poster next update...

Best to you and the fam.

    Bat - Capporth City

    Hi Bat,

The trails without fences are from Deadwoods, if you want them with a transparent base to let Cycledog's terrain showing thru, you'll need all three downloads. Here they are

1- BSC DAE Dirt Track Texture Pack

2- BSC DAE Forest Track Lots

3- BSC Forest Lots Without Base

    Hope this will help you!

    Take care

Benedict - The Mayors of Ellis Valley

    Hi Benedict,

    Thanks man!

    IDS2

    Hey IDS2,

Yep should have turned it off, what can I say, it slipped by!

    Thanks for stopping by

    take care

    Fallon144

    Thanks Fallon

And about "frenchish" influences, I just tried to create a nice town.

    Glad you liked it!

    Take care

Gilligone - The headwaters of Nemonos

    Hey Gilligone,

The pedestrian path is not transit enabled, it's just an ordinary pedestrian path. I just liked the look of it.

    See you!

    Nik-nik

    Hey Niek!

You trying to emulate Rip Van Winkle ? hehehe...

A nice stout at David's Inn would indeed be very nice!

Oops! didn't notice that bump before, I'll have to advise my maintenance crew to go repair that ASAP!

    The warehouses, here they are:

    SimGoober's Modern Warehouses

    SimGoober Small Warehouse Pack 01

The zoo, I think that the last time I visited a zoo was, my god, at least 15 years ago! Geez time flies!

Diaper changing at the zoo... hehehe... well... at least it's less noticeable (if you get my drift) than at an upscale restaurant! WINK

But hey! As I told you before those are the moments you'll remember for a long time!

    See you my friend

    Take care

    -John

    Schulmanator - Schulmania

    Hey Schul,

hehehe... I must say that I'm not responsible for any gain of weight following the reading of my updates! (I should ask David about writing a legal disclaimer on that topic!) WINK

Thanks, and I hope you enjoyed your meal!

    Take care

    Rayden - Little Italy

    Hola Silvio,

About the snow, well it's now beginning to melt, albeit very slowly mind you... we're not done yet with winter.

And I've yet to see a school with a ski rack in Québec! WINK The parking lots are full of cars though!

About crappy stuff, you should listen to some jams I do with one of my cousin, I hope that one day I'll be a good guitar player!

And about getting a snowmobile, you'll be surprise to know that even if my hometown had snow for at least 6 months a year (less than that now...), I've never liked snowmobiles, what we call here a "SkiDoo" which by the way is a trademark but what have become the generic name of snowmobiles. But I do agree that the other day I would have welcomed a ride home on one of them! WINK

    See you soon amigo!

    Take care

    Constantinos - Voulpiotis

    Hi Constantinos,

    Thanks!

    IDS2

    Hey IDS,

I've used two set of trails, the ones with the fences are Darmok Transit Enabled Rural Trail Set

and the ones without fences are from Deadwoods, see the links in the links section above.

    Hope this'll help you.

    Take care

    James - hondo42769

    Hi James,

Hehehe... to tell you the truth I only had one Tonka, it was a big yellow (what else!) grader , the rest were mostly big plastic trucks. Ahhhh what fun we had! And no income tax to worry about... humm... well... that was a **cough cough** few years ago.

The fence lots? well I don't know, I have Jeroni's, I have suico's, I also have some jestar's props that I'm working with these days... that's about it I think.

As to spend much time with the LE, I must say that I didn't work with it for almost two months now...

Thanks for the welcoming to page 138

    Take care my friend.

    ThomasAH - Zorturia

    Hi Thomas,

Well the snow is (slowly) beginning to melt now, so far it's one of the weirdest winter I've seen so far... But hey there's not much we can do about it!

    Glad you appreciated the update.

    Take care!

    Rayden - Little Italy

Hey I'd be happy to show you our good ski resorts like the Mont-Sainte-Anne , or Le Massif , this last one is really spectular!

As for myself I'd be safely inside the lodge playing guitar, I don't want to break my neck! I'm totally inept on skis! Better on hockey skates!

    Take care amigo

    Liv - Livin in Sim

    Hey Liv,

Yep I've added some light poles and fences to Jeroni's walkway, I think I used them first in Bruinen Fjord, just wanted some variety.

I'm not sure if I ever mentioned this to you but as you like blues and jazz go to you tube and a search for jazzerman and mattotten you won't regret it, they are great guitar players, I was listening to Sunburst Hammer Blues from jazzerman last night and started jamming along on my guitar! I can't imagine life without music!

Enjoy your weekend my friend and regards to your family as well!

    -John

P.S. Lust love the "Déja Moo" signature! hehehe...

    Jacky (jacqulina) - Paradise Falls

    Hi Jacky!

First you don't have to apologize, if there's one person who never misses an update it's you! So I would be a sorry bum to hold a grudge! I always appreciate your post my friend, no matter that they are soon or late in the week!

About the cat... well... he broke one of our son's racing cars. you know those collectible cars ... he was not happy about it! What can I say cats will be cats! And no I haven't trip on it.... yet! His name is Ozzy, yeah like Ozbourne...

A chaotic week! Believe me I can relate to that! barely had time to play guitar!

Saw your town, Serenity Falls, It's really great looking!

See you soon my friend and have a great week. But first, take the time to relax this weekend!

    Take care!

    -John

P.S. I'll do my best to avoid tripping over Ozzy!

And now ladies and gentlemen, here's

Please note that this is a small update.... next one will be bigger.

Ah. A nice Friday to peacefully look at Darmok's latest batch of AVR images. *relaxes in chair* The cabin is so scenic, by the way. Words cease to describe this CJ! Well maybe, "great," "fantastic," "scenic," "Best CJ ever" do it justice. Yeah.

    Hi John!

Sorry for not posting but right at the moment I have VERY short coffee breaks at the office and quite some troubles with my ADSL at home ... 26.gif

    page 136, bottom

Hmm  ... ploppable water is some of those things this oldfashioned stubborn donkey of me never tried. And the raintool, I rarely use. I guess I might change this somehow ... maybe ..

David seems to have open a goldmine there (referring to your recent update). Nice place on the other hand - I just wonder ... when I see that lake I am asking myself if the guest eating on the terace are more ordering meal for themselves or becoming the meal of the moskitos from th small lake ... moskitos do love stagnant waters ... 21.gif

Good placement of the water tower (does it have a small problem with the base texture?)

    page 137

You do have a good hand for warehouse sectors. And the RHW I guess I am going to try it, too, when they release (hopefully) a version that can be used with the new NAM. I just love these new railway curves ...

That fence at the RHW, are they Jeroni's fence with a grass texture? I guess I should try it in the LE, too. I just have the problem that the LE doesn't seem to show me all props if I want to add one - have had that problems with d?fferent props from different creators ...

Great pedestrian access. I do hope that they are increasing the number of pedestrian malls if there will be another NAM

    page 138

That BK sign is a nice touch!

I already wrote my thoughts about the moskitos so ...

    Take care my friend

Good that this it is a small update as RL takes up the time to answer.

Pim is now sitting next to me making a wonderfull colour drawing of a dino and Merijn is in bed. At last I can have a look at AVR.

    Nice little update.

The area looks very nice. The cultural rest stop is interesting...these things sometimes sprawl up as mushrooms.

The morafi lots are a great asset. Good work with them

David's inn...ah what a wonderful piece you'vve made out of it. Interesting parking lots. Made them yourself?

LO at Nardo's answer: "Hmm  ... ploppable water is some of those things this oldfashioned stubborn donkey of me never tried. And the raintool, I rarely use. I guess I might change this somehow ... maybe .. "

It is so recogniseable....I have never used it as well. LOL.

    Have a great week, John.

    That carriage ride,

    You walked me home,

    You lost a glove.

    I lost a comb,

Ah, yes, I remember it well...

...You wore a gown of gold,

    I was in blue.

    Am I getting old?

    Oh, no not you!

How strong you were, how young and gay,

A prince of love in every way.

Ah, yes, I remember it well.

Ah, yes, who can forget that old show tune from the musical Gigi, back in the days of Maurice Chevalier, who sang with Hermione Gingold.  It's straight up 1 AM, you're listening to Broadway Memories here on KLIV FM...

John, the new David's Inn is just darling, is it a Barby/CSX project?  It looks perfect there on the bank, sigh.  Pardon me for asking, but have you and the misses ever been on a carriage ride?  You should arrange it if not.  It has to be on the top ten of the romantic list.

What do you think of Showtunes?  Oh, heck, it's one AM, who's up listening then, anyway?  Tomorrow I will attempt to capture some screenshots, and may even be brave enough to post them this week.  How did the storm turn out?  We got  a lot of wind and just a couple inches.  I'm off to check out the You Tube tips.

    Yawn,

    Hi John.

    Nice work on David's Inn.

I like the effect the paved parking makes.

It looks like you are getting a little more into creating your own custom lots!

The results are definetly worth the effort.

    Take care.

By way of a "Thank You" gift, we'd like to send you our STEX Collector's DVD. It's some of the best buildings, lots, maps and mods collected for you over the years. Check out the STEX Collections for more info.

Each donation helps keep Simtropolis online, open and free!

Thank you for reading and enjoy the site!
