Hi Darmok,

Fantastic update you had made there! Great farms!

But one or two questions, first where do you get this new suspension bridge layout from your last update and

second what do you do that the farms will grow so fast (are you using any mod?)? (I ask you that because the farms will not growing after

some game-years (by me).)

till the Friday and Take care!

John,

Another bang-up job...are you going to be adding some trails to the last farm, the one with the roads that make a "T" in front of the mansion of a farm house...just figured you would since this is how you typically put the finishing touches on...

I like this area...definitely a little community that wants to grow up someday...unlike the hickville that I moved to 2 months ago...maybe I'll have to buy one of them mansions with the up front bonus money my publisher is gonna give me for "The Golden Chimaera." Pick me out a nice one overlooking some water if you can...I like to sit in solitude in a small boat and fish...

Another great update...keep em comin...

John, it's been awhile friend.

I must admit that I've been guilty of lurking lately! The kids are taking up an immense amount of time in my life, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Your updates of Anorien have been nothing short of stunning lately, and I've even been having fun checking your mystery links! Keep up the extraordinary work, and I hope that I can provide my support a little more frequently in the not so distant future.

EDIT: WELCOME TO PAGE 129

I had the honor to open page 127, and now, page 129, I guess I'll be opening every other page from now on 9.gif

This is the "dancing banana" I meant, back on page 125, post number 961913

About the update today, totally insane. Favourite shot, number 3, that winding road with little retail shops, restaurant and the trail path leading to the little shrine/gazebo by the stream. On the corner, that bunch of flowers with the rock standing on the middle, a little touch of class. 2.gif

Keep it up amigo, my "dancing banana" will be back Thursday evening, just before your update.

Another amazing update mate!

Incredible how you can create a living and breathing city out of Simcity 4, the amount of realism is tremendous, it really looks like cities I've visited!

thanks for the links btw, they're lots of fun, especially the riddle link 9.gif

keep up the amazing work mate!

Thank you for that tranquil place next to the lake.

I need some additional fences to keep Pim and Merijn from running into the water, but they will learn.

Dwarf real estate agent? Well I guess it makes sense after all dwarfs are in it for the gold, and gold alone.49.gif

Neat those CS$$$ I have them growing constantly in my R$ city as well and I need to buldoze them again and again. So it is nice to see them for once longer than a few seconds. 2.gif

That first police station pic. Must be a time of emergency judging from the chaos on the car park. ha, ha, ha.

For that first grown farm you could use Jeronij's Tarmac roads. They look OK with t. Too late now I guess. The second is a no-no! Does not fit this place in this CJ.

Splendid puzzle John!

http://www.foon.co.uk got some great others too.

Many hours of sheer puzzle leasure.

Have a great weekend, John.

Crickey!

Silver Tongue? Epic poem?

You really compliment me too much. If it hadn't been for your journal, I would have never been inspired! 2.gif And personally, I didn't find that poem too good.

As for the last update, very nice, I really like the way that you make sure there are no looses ends (ex: parking lots that lead to a field). Your farms, which have been complimented many times before, and which I'm sure you never get tired of hearing, are really nice. Along with your residential areas. And your parks. And - ah, heck, everything is top notch. Only thing that I might be able to say negatively about your CJ is that it is too good and you should be on the lookout for overly jealous members who might want to steal your cities. 2.gif I'm already waiting for a new update! In the meantime, I might be able to compose another poem... =)

And, as usual (although I haven't said it in a while),

Keep up the awesome work!

John,

AVR updates make Friday the best day of the week! I agree with you completely that it is necessary to take into account the regional aspect when planning things such as Etiennes Junction. I do the same in my regions, for example, the game seems to think nearly all cities or towns with any commercial properties needs an airport of some kind. Last time I checked, in RL you don't pass an airport every couple of miles. I tend to get lost in the individual pics you present and didn't realize there was additional industrial just over in Bruinen Fjord.

As for the latest update, I'm going to jump right to the end and proclaim pic #21 (Global View) as my favorite. I love the way the farms blend in with the landscape and coexists with the wilderness to the southwest (from my perspective). The little downtown area is quite nice, although I noticed that the stream behind the Eckerd Drug store just kind of ends at the trail. Or, maybe it starts there. All streams have to start somewhere, don't they. I like the shape of the first farm. Any farmer worth his/her salt would use all the tillable land available and you do this amazingly well. I agree about the farm buildings though, they just don't feel right. I'm confident you will create something that works. Thanks for a fantastic update!

Hi, John,

What a week it has been!  I worked six days, caught a cold, and twisted my knee.  I missed my usual Thursday night anticipation, or at least sharing it.  I think shared anticipation is twice as exciting.  If it wasn't so darn cold I'd venture forth in search of the recommended Talisker or Bowmore for medicinal purposes.  I did however enjoy my first French wine last weekend.  I believe it was a Pinot Noir, not sure what winery, but 2002, brought back by a friend from a layover in Paris.  It was very nice.

Do you suppose it was the sort of wine those living in La Plaisance Estates would drink?  I'm sure they would make a point of knowing the label.  Me, I live a little closer to the tracks, not too far from the Junction, the one that's really making a name for itself lately.  You know, over by the Eckerds--the brown and white Tudor?  But I ride my bike past La Plaisance Estates all the time.  I really admire the way the developer built those lovely wrought iron and stone walls to make it look like all the yards are connected.  Quite often I eat lunch by the river.  I always walk my bike across the swing bridge, stopping for a while in the middle.  One day I listened really closely, over the sound of the waterfall and the birds.  I could hear a string quartet playing, and the guests talking and laughing at a garden party nearby.  It was a perfect day in June, just right for a garden party.  So when I got home, I called up my friend.  We listened to The Stones and drank red wine on the deck of the Tudor.  It was a good time.

Yep, Ettiene's Junction is really on the map nowadays.  Even the farmers are well to do!

Thanks, John, for the glimpse of June in November!  Take care.

--Liv

PS--I have read...your...whole...journal!!!  Also a good time.

Hey John!

I spent the last half an hour pouring, literally pouring (and devouring!), over those updates... It was just magnificent! You are a master at manipulating the game so it doesn't automatically grow annoying large buildings and make the streets full of cars... Speaking of streets, what are those dusty looking textures that seem to pop up here and there?

I absolutley loved that mystery link when the guy who couldn't play drums or piano edited to make it sound like he could! Wwhoa that was exciting!

Always a pleasure to drop by your "home"...

Owen

You have done a lot of work with the agriculture, and the result worth it. I enjoy watching at those screenshots. Truly.

And the usual question: What is that brown residentiel-like building on the 3rd picture? It looks too godd to miss.

Good ol' Liberty Islands! Someday, I'll repost my old CJ.

Congrats on the Trixie! I have a hunch there may have been rioting in the streets had you not won. You certainly are deserving of the award!

Congratulations. If there was a better fitting name for the award, I'm not sure what it would be. As far as updates go, the junction is filling out nicely. La Plaisance Estates is a beautiful place (and a hot one too). Picture 14.06 of the Anôrien update is simple yet elegant, great "bridge" effect. As far as the farm issue goes, it seems like every lot showcased for the area is just too big. Perhaps it just needs something small with 1 or 2 supplementary buildings tacked on to fit the space they occupy. Whatever the result, it should be good...even... the best.

First of all...

...CONGRATULATIONS JOHN! 39.gif

You were my nominee in that category and I knew you'll win. I just didn't want to tell you that. Congratulations, you truly deserved that award!

Well, anyway, I am sorry that I haven't commented AVR lately. I must admit that you're still taking my breath away with your creations!

You have a great eye for detail. For example that small, minor hill. You found it useful, even something like that. I like the library and auditorium, they fit really well together. About the farm that you didn't like, I think you could leave the earlier one, and connect it with jeronij trails.

I like the global view. That's nice there's still much place to work on! 2.gif I'm looking forward to more!

Congratulations on the Trixie Darmok!!!39.gif

You definitely deserved the "Best City Journal" award!  As I have said before, your CJ is amazing and I am glad the Simtropolis community has been able to recognize your work with the award.  Keep up the great work!44.gif

I've missed your last two updates thanks to RL syndrome, but you have continued to impress me with your landscaping abilties.  I especially like your work with the cycleways back in Update 13.  How you managed to terraform the land to make the cycleway connection realistic and gorgeous in pics 6 through 8 is awe-inspiring.  Then you follow that with Update 14 and you have (almost) left me speechless.  I cannot choose the most beautiful pic of the "La Plaisance Estates" because they are all so fabulous.  Using Peg's Pond and Stream Kits with all the foliage...just...wow.   Just one quick question though, what fences did you use to surround the grassy areas of the estates?

Hopefully I will soon be able to pick my jaw off the floor after that last update.  I'm sure it will drop again once Update 15 is posted on Friday.  Until then, take care Darmok and again, congratulations on the Trixie!

Edit:  Congratulations on the 100,000  views too!  So Darmok, now that your CJ has had over 100,000 views AND won a Trixie (both on the same day) what are you going to do now?2.gif

Wow! 100,000 views and a much deserved and frankly overdue Trixie in the same day!

I think this is easily the best City Journal of the year and... ah I'll say it! The Best Journal Ever!

Enjoy the feeling mate, because you should be proud of the beauty you've created.

Cheers, choco.
