edit: Welcome to page 107!!!

Hey Darmok -

Really great updates! Love the transit enabled dirt road set. Looks really great!

And love the little education area. Looks pretty sweet. I think this entire area is really coming together very nicely. I really like the zoomed out shot at the end.  It all has such a nice feel to it.

Keep it up!

Hey Darmok, that education complex was a really good choice for that gated area, and I'm glad that's what it came to after your lots of trialing. I particularly like the walkway up to the complex, and the housing fits in well with that area. As for the other Oklahoma-looking area, traffic has to be the problem there, but the area still looks pretty good. Oh, and lets not forget the nice overview. I look forward to more, man!

A big update today!

A great use of dhoppei gated community tool. Private education sector, nice. I suppose only real elite goes there... I saw some nice dirt parkings there, what are they?

The residential sector is really sweet. I think occupant's complains are about that some of them have windows just in front of another building... I hope they doesn't have their bathrooms there at least! 18.gif Apart from that, I love how the street looks in between of those rowhomes.

I've got another request... I suppose you know what for... Yes, for that communication tower, I love how high it is.

What's quite funny about today's update is that I've also written an 15th update today and we've both used the same BAT for one of schools (the architecture school). Hehe 3.gif

I'm looking forward to more Darmok!

edit: oh, and it was my 300th post! 39.gif

Hi Darmok, what a neat update. The (very) private education sector looks great and really... private. The bus drivers mustn't have acquainted themselves with the new route! Then there is the walkway, the new residential areas, and to top it all off, a new telecommunications tower. The map is starting to fill out! Keep up the great work/play, and have a great week yourself (I know I will, I’m on school holidays!).

Wow, amazing update again Darmok! I love the private school sector and your thought at putting in residences in the area. Looks like there sure is an abundance of buses at that place. The students must not walk much 2.gif.

I also love what you did with the waterfront in the 2nd last picture. Just beautiful!

Let's hear it for Economics! More than likely I've made people shudder for just reading that, but hey, you have to like what you major in. The school looks great (aside from the busses flying all over the place... put the pipe down when you drive). The path fromt eh houses looks good but it seems to dead end near the railroad tracks... perhaps an incentive to avoid a night of heavy drinking on the town? I'm a bit surprised more commercial establishments haven't sprung up closer to the school to take advantage of the student's pocketbooks. The new residential area of pic 14 look like it has some great views... but little parking. The diner at the bottom of the slope (15) looks great, I'm sorry to see it had moved on (20) but I guess that is the world of business. Can't wait to see what's next.

Well, those dirt tracks look quite amazing!  I might have to give them a try!

As for your latest update, that's quite the exclusive private school.   A secure entrance seems a bit extreme.  I wonder if it's there to keep people out or in.  4.gif  Keep it up!

ah, just got time to pop in my favourite CJ.

Wow what a nice res ector you've made. Nagging about traffic heh?

That school sector is a gem too. Where did you get the Astronomers school? It is a nice addition with that dome and the telescope.

I love to see all those great bats clustered together.

That students res area is great. Although I muss either the bus stop or some decent parking lots for those upperclass twits (sorry Monthy Python speaking here).

Well now I am realy off on holiday.

PS. Pim had pancakes for his holiday (today 4th of July). The temperature outside is >30 degrees celcius and you do not want to know what the temperature above the frying pan was. But then again how often does one get 5 years old!.

Sometimes I tend to give strange compliments, saying this CJ is "cool stuff man" etc gets boring, especially 100 times. Im someone who loves variety 9.gif

BTW: your avatar, is that from Tintin? it looks like some belgian cartoon character 4.gif

my name is from a different character btw 4.gif (forgot which one lol)

Hi Darmok,

I would really love to use your rural footpaths, but even after hours of checking and re-checking my dependency files I still get "brown boxes" on every single tile of your set. Perhaps you can help me find out which one I am missing. I have added a picture and used Pegasus's OPP-mod to make it clear what does show-up and where the missing prop is.

Thanks in advance.

John! Excellent! J'adore le secteur d'education prive. Tres original!

Oui, il y a bien une ville nommee Dieppe au N.-B., renommee de Leger's Corner en 1946 en reconnaissance des combatants canadiens decedes a Dieppe, France en 1942. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dieppe%2C_New_Brunswick]

For what it is of my recreation of Dieppe, I've put it on hold for a bit, not to say though that I won't have pics to share. I've got a little city I've worked on this week that I should have pics of by Friday at the latest. Where is it that I go to share those again???

Take care,

Rheal

    TRANSIT ENABLED RURAL TRAILS NEWS

Those of you who had problems with the trails, could you please thry this new dependency:

    Farms Fences by suico

    https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=4585

It was so obvious to me that I plain forgot to put it in the list....

    Shame on me 15.gif

Could you verify if it corrects the situation and advise me if there's still a problem.

Thanks to all for your patience.

I also want to officially thank NicolaiS, BoeMatic, daihtnaoz and CaptCity for their comment and patient testing.

    Hats off to you guys!

    Regular update tomorrow morning!

    Peg MTP Parking Lots

    Tower - by carlosau

    zzavintrojune2006down7vf.jpg

    Owenluby - Barton Region

    Hi Owen,

By the way I've never mentioned it, but I really like your avatars designs! Original and well done, if they are your creations, they would make good cartoon characters (went to see your small web page...)

    Always good to see you!

    Take care

    Jacky (jacqulina) - Paradise Falls

    Hi lassie!

Those steps are Marrast's and unfortunately they're no longer on the STEX! A technical problem when they updated Simtrop!

I'll email Marrast to see if he will re-upload (sic) them!

    Enjoy your weekend my friend!

    S_A_ (Shadow_Assassin) - The Savannah Way

Glad to help mate, as for the PM, now you know, sent you another one explaining that I've already sent it, while no other PM..... (ohhhhhhhh I'm all confused now.... WARNING WARNING Buffer Overload.... Shutting down system....) click...

    **sounds of a PC rebooting...**

    Where was I?

    Oh yeah....

    Take care my friend!

Yoman3 - United Republic of Ankara

Hi Yoman, what can I say, I just picture myself walking down those streets and then try to resolve the problems I see!

Sometimes it works, sometimes I don't even see the problem. But thanks to some of you who see them, I can work them out most of the time!

    Take care

PS. There's something for you at the end of the answers section

    Rayden - New Haven

    Hola Sylvio!

Glad to be of help, whenever I can!

Good idea, to move the gate inward, though I'd have to demolish the fine art school! I guess I'll have to live with the gate this way for this setup. But I'm keeping the idea for a future use if you don't mind! And if the driving is worse than that in Portugal, perhaps Frau Frickenwurst went there on a Golden Ager trip!

    Take care!

    Tinysim

Hi Tiny Sim, welcome to Anduin Valley!

The lot you're talking about is indeed Marrast's, I'll have to have his permission to re-upload (sic) them. If not we'll have to wait until he do so!

BTW like your sig! we could also say "127.0.0.1. SWEEET 127.0.0.1." 18.gif

I'll keep you posted about Marrast lots.

    See you!

    MS (magpieshooter) - Kinata Region

    Hi MS,

Well at first I tried a residential sector, didn't work... tried kind of a secure hi-tech business, didn't work.... tried some government installations... you guessed it, dinah work! I don't remember if I tried something else but it wouldn't surprise me if I did! But in the end it came out not so bad...

Thanks for your visit mate, and glad to see Kinata's back!

    Take care

    manman99

    Welcome to Anduin Valley manman99,

Well that's an honest opinion! Thanks for stopping by, and feel free to come back anytime.

    See you

Kant01 - The Mystic County Project

    Hi Kant,

    Thanks for the welcoming!

Glad you like the rural trails! I've received so much here, that it's a pleasure to be able to contribute, even if it's only a small thing.

That particular sector, was really a pain in the neck to finish, don't really remember how many times I've redone it, but glad it's done... sometimes it's just like we're hitting an invisible wall, and nothing we do is what we want...18.gif

    Take care

    Cityhawk - Montrose

Thanks CH, yep that sector was quite a challenge for me, it's strange how sometimes we just can't find what to do with a setup!!!

Anyhow I'm glad it's done and over with. Can I ask why you called the res. sector "Oklahoma-looking"? I'm really not familiar with Oklahoma... just curious!

    See you!

Luker01 - San Lucas: My first CJ

Thanks Luke, that sector was one of the most hard for me to do, and the stangest thing is, I don't even know why! I just ran out of ideas with that part it took a long time before I came to something I liked!

Anyhow, it's now done and I'm satisfied, well... almost... I think I never am 18.gif

    Take care

    CDI_spy

    Welcome to Anduin Valley CDI!

Thanks for your kind comments man! I think that what you're seeing now is the sum of the experience of all the CJ'ers I've been in contact with! Simtrop is the best SC4 think tank IMHO. As Jason (aldara6166) in his post following said and I quote ...>"how your style and ability has changed..."<...end of quote, I totally agree, my playing style has really changed in that one and a half year period, due to several influences here. That and taking the time to have fun with the game.

(again on a topic I could talk about for hours!... sorry!)

CDI, come back anytime you want, the door's always open!

    Take care

Jason -(Aldara6166) - Modular Amusement park thread

    Hi Jason,

Exactly what I was saying to CDI_spy, I totally agree. We are subjected to so many influence here, how can you not expect to change your style! And I must add, for the best!

I remember very clearly when the switch happened after reading the opening lines in jeroni's SCR, it was like someone has opened a window!

OK back to topic, don't ask me how I came up with the idea! I honestly don't have a clue! It was one of those setups that would not come out! Everything I tried turned to sh... well... to nothing!

I was in a dry spell, and out of the blue this turned out... to my taste, it's not bad, but I still think I could have done something better with that piece of land... Oh well such is life!

Regards to you and family my friend.

    -John

    ThomasAH - Zorturia

Glad to help Thomas, those image servers are a blessing!

The apprtments? I think they're erdmoebel's... see the links section.

And if you can find a use for those trails, that's great.

    Take care

EDITED - Still looking for the appartment buildings Thomas will keep you informed!

    Jeroni - Simtropia

    Amigo, what a good surprise!

I was reading in Simtropia the other day how you liked to try to conform as much as you can to the terrain natural slope, and I realized that I was nodding while reading... 18.gif

That's really the way to go, as in RL by the way, but in SC4 it's not always that simple with the game exaggerated slope! But I agree that's what we should tend to.

My friend I know you don't have a lot of time to spend on the CJ section and I really appreciate you taking the time for a visit.

Enjoy your weekend, and give my best to your family!

    Regards

    -John

Szarkoz - The Free Democratic Nation of Caledonia

    Hi Szarkoz,

I still have to create a setup that'll please me for Dan (dhoppeii's) gated community! It's such a good looking lot! The school setup I like but not that much, I still think I could have done something better, but I guess I'm never really satisfied!

As for the school itself serving only the elite, well let's say it ain't cheap, but they also give scholarships. And they accept anyone who can pay the price.

The dirt parking lots come with Peg's mountain pack mod see links section

Right on for the complaints! I've know demolished those and trying from time to time to have something else, but so far nothing I like have grown...

The communication tower is made by Caloseau see links section

And congrats on your 300th post!

    Take care!

    Van1357

    Welcome to Anduin Valley Van,

What can I say, those bus drivers are probably retired NASCAR drivers!

    Thanks for those good comments!

Enjoy your holidays! As for me, my vacations are still a few weeks away!

    Take care

ThePeoplesPerson - The Tropics of Haalu

    Hi PeoplePerson,

Those bus as for the students that do not live in the school residences. They HAVE to walk, it's part of their exercise program!

As for the Communcation tower, it's just that I thought that the riverfront was a tad bare in that sector, and those towers are great generic fillers lot!

    Thanks for the constant support!

    Take care!

    GaBoR - Oro Bruno

    Gracias amigo!

It's called a "promenade", fancy name hey?

Yeah I like those lots they can add some zest to a setup!

    Salud

    Threestooges – Matt

Hi Matt, Economics is good.... as long as it's good economics!

The path near the tracks, well the situation was addressed a little bit later, I'll post a corrected image on monday update.... that's one of the problem when publishing a CJ in construction! 2.gif

The fact that there's not much commerce nearby does not bother the students very much, to the contrary, there's a very flourishing black market in the residences!

You're one of the few who appreciates that small diner, I personally like it a lot, it grew and I forgot to make it historical! And as you say, that's business!

As for what's next, wel... here it is....

Battlecat - Terra - An evolving region

Ha...HA! That's the good question, and you're the first who brought it up! Give the man a cigar! That's exactly why there are fences, so the students will stay at school all day long! No loafers here!

hehehehe.... (fortunately this is just a story... cause I wouldn't go to a school like that!)

As for the trails, there not for every setup, you have to like creating rural communities!

    See you next time!

    Sorchin – Developping Macedon

Hi Steve, glad you appreciate those trails! Some people seems to have problems with them though! even with all dependencies, or so it seems. Perhaps a conflict of some sort!

Anyhow we'll try to find out!

    Take care

    Nik-nik

    Hi Nik,

Astronomy school, see the links section, is the PLACEHOLDER, don't worry about MonthyPython, How can one not like them!! Have you ever heard "Christmas in heaven"?

If you read this before going to, or while being in vacation Have a great time! If you read it when returned home, I hope that the updates you've missed and that you are now reading, will help cheer you up before going back to work!

I just can imagine you making pancakes!... don't worry I'm not being sarcastic, I'm the pancakes master here too! Though I'm making "crêpes" and not thick pancakes, but the method is quite similar, so I can relate!

And you're quite right 5 is quite a landmark WINK

My friend I sure hope you had/are having (not knowing when you'll read this) a very good time with your family!

    Take care and have fun!

    -John

    Anubis - anubis' cities

Hey Anubis, glad you appreciated the ed. sector! And yes I'm sure that Shmail's Jenx Clinic would fit very well in your german city, which BTW is a beauty!

See the links section for the clinic!

    Take care

HI Tracker, just see the links section

    Gurrgkud - Cordova//Revisited

    Hi Gurrgkud!

Welcome back, Thanks for your visit, and I wish you luck with Cordova Revisited!

    Sleini

Hehehe, no, no Hogwarts! Tried it, but it kept changing places on the map all the time! So I gave up!!!

Nahhhhh, I'm no good with magic tricks!

    Take care

    Fallon144

Hi Fallon, yes the avatar is Piotr Szut (or Skut in english version) one of TinTin's characters, he's an Estonian pilot.

    See you!

    NicolaiS - Riseley

Hi Nicolai, thanks for the pic! It'll help us figure out what the problem is on certain setups, there probably is some dependency that was not found by the SC4Tool!!!

I'll PM you about it (already done by the time you read this)

    -John

PS. Thanks for your great help with the lots problem! I'll try it as soon as I can!

    Rhéal – rw0381c

Salut Rhéal, merci pour les info sur Dieppe!

For the school sector, I'm kind of having mixed feelings about it... kind of a love/hate relationship! I guess we're never really satisfied!

As for sharing your pics, here's the link

    Show us your accomplishments THREAD

    Take care my friend

    Yaptszwai

    Hello yaptszwai!

No problem, RL is way more important than a game!

Gla dto see you appreciate the new sector, I can't say it's on of my favorite but It's like RL.

Sometimes we like it, sometimes we don't!

As for the ideas, don't ask me, they just come, but this sector is a good example that sometimes they take their sweet time!

I don't remember how many version I've made before being (almost) satisfied with my work.

    Always good to read you!

    Take care

Mightygoose - Vil-valad, a city and its roots

    Hi John,

    Thanks! appreciate it.

As for your offer, it's not a simple question of "wanting it", the simple reason is, I can barely maintain the regular updates in Anduin Valley these days, I don't see how I could humanely maintain 2 CJ's!

This being said, I wish you all the success you deserve with this new project, I went I had a peek, it look promising. And the more SC web sites we have the better.

    Take care

    Jacky (jacqulina) - Paradise Falls

Thanks Jacky! And if you do have a problem with the lots, just send a PM!

    Have a great weekend too!
