so DArmok your a john too lol, that new update looks great, ilove tech shots, i just forget to take key ones while im building and so it all goes to waste lol, ill have to try again some time, this all looks awesome again, your res layout style is slightly different to mine but i suppose that would probably have to do with locality, in the UK res estates invariably have dead ends everywhere with one or two main streets that lead up to the roads, your seem to be much more loopy lol... or shall i say better connected

great work,

I like the area where you're going to build (or built already) that residential sector, a bit uphill, nice.

Good idea with putting jeronij's  parkings in front of water pumps.  Although many people like to park there even if noone lives in Bruinen Fjord 18.gif Ill Tonkso's terminal is a real beauty, I luv it! Good to see you've built much parking space there.

Postcard from anorien is just eye-candy. I don't know what happened with young people in these times, every street there's a TP tree! Geez... 3.gif

Great work again Darmok!

Again some nice pics, especially the overview in pic 09, I always love overviews and regionviews...9.gif

I love the postcard, I haven't tried the street mod from Jeronij yet, 5.gif(that's because I'm usin an

other tree mod and they don't look good together) but it really looks great!6.gif

BTW: What is that railstation shown in pic 03?42.gif

Oh, absolutely wonderful. The last shot of Anorien is indeed drool-worthy.

Eh, do you get that texture bug with my cycleways? Being transparent and all?

Oh man, this is sick. How can you do it? Making me wishing to jump into your postcard? 9.gif

I'm not gonna praise your terraforming as I did that so many times, but generaly, your work is outstanding.

And that pathway along the river in your Anorien postcard, I wish I could take my bike and ride it all day long. 2.gif

Cheers

Hey John, How are you doing.  I have ben gone for a couple of pages, but now I'm back.  I thought it was time to move to a house finally with my new baby and all.  So I have been very busy.

I have just looked over everything that I have missed and it all looks awesome as always.  It looks like you are ready to build something a little bigger than you have in a little while.  So far so good.  I have been adding the power lines into my cities recently, to add some more realism and I see you are doing the same.  But I wish someone would do a modd to make the power lines less flashy.  Plain steel colour would be perfect, if that's a colour.  At least the ones I have seen are not red and white.

Anyways great work and I will be posting new stuff in my CJ very soon.

Have a great weekend and I'll pop in again very soon.

BYE.

John my friend......It is good to see that you are still boring these fine folks with those tech updates2.gif ......and showing off your city building talents to the masses.  I have been here and there, but not with much time as you know.  The evolution of not only AV but your skill over the past year has been incredible.

BTW, I was able to actually play "The Game" for a few brief and glorious moments today.  Perhaps an update is in store.......I will shoot some screenshots over the weekend of those items you sent me 16.gif  They were fun to play with.....

Now, carry on with boring, I mean showing off for, er.......entertaining the masses.

That post card is very scenic! Keep it uuuppp! And one thing--why would there be a chain link fence around a water pump? I guess water is extremely disputed in Gondor. Hehe. GOOD JOB!

When I was in the army, my quarter's well and water pumps were surrounded by a very tall chain fence and gauarded by soldiers 2.gif Don't ask me why! 9.gif

Brilliant update, SA's cycleways look brilliant meandering through the trees and all. Looking forward to the upcoming residential sectors.

Bonjour John.

You're absolutely right, taking some time off helps to focus on work (respectively college) again...

I like how Bruinen Fjord is coming along. The details are very promising already (I particularly like the placement of the water towers). The Bruinen Fjord terminal is very nice too, I like that it's located on that flat bank and the way the road gently leads up to the station, quite eye-catching.

Bon weekend et à biontôt my friend.

- Phil

EDIT: Oops, I never learn it. The postcard is beautiful, the cycleways look fantastic and so does the residential sector. I like its calm vibrancy.

Wow, I think the best part of that update was the postcard itself! That was an awesome little sidewalk going by the river. That just amazed me at how it turned unlike a normal Simcity street. (Yeah, I know it is puzzle pieces, but they just look so cool). That is kind of odd that there would be a TP tree.

The upcoming region looks very promising.

I loved reading that Council document. Truly exciting.

You have out done yourself, Darmok! You amaze and entertain me all the time. Thanks for the comment.

That postcard is really something. You don't see sideways mosaics too often (I guess because you have to link to them). I really like how you used the NAM puzzle pieces over the railway, where it levels out with the road above. Looks spectacular.

Another great update! The city is starting to take shape.  Nice idea for preventing the NAM roundabouts from forming, the result is quite striking.  Also, that post card looks fantastic!  I'm going to have to look into that street trees mod.

The monday update should be up soon,

Trying to upload but the site keeps refusing the post.

Will try in a few minutes - Darmok

    zzavnewintrobluezz7zo.jpg

    Sloppet

Hey Sloppet, well, still alive on my side too, as to know for how long I guess nobody knows!

As for the updates being a bit "dry", just bear with me, it'll be more "eye-candy" as it grow.

Take this as when building the basement of a new house, not very pretty...but kind of essential to the solidity of the house!

    Take care my friend

    Jeroni - Simtropia

Hola Jeroni, Thanks my friend, hehehe, free time you say, well, I must tell you that I take all my lunch hours to do the answers while eating, if not I would never have the time to do it, and doing it this way has become my daily routine and I really like it, so it's not a chore but more of kind of a daily meeting with distant friends!

Yes I've begun using your street mod, and loving it! I'm not sure I'm using PEG's texture pack, PEG's seasonal woods, also your seasonal and other trees, DuskTrooper's trees, hehehe... so much trees! but I don't recall using a PEG's street mod...save the one I used in Tolfalas, but removed it afterwards.

Great to see you again amigo.

    Regards to you and family!

Jacky (jacqulina) - CJ: "Just wanted to show you my terraforming"

Cleaning the box is also a very basic thing that we tend to forget. Last time I cleaned my old one, it had so much dust puppy's in it it looked like the Tribbles episode in the original Star-Trek! Seriously my processor heatsink was clogged with them! My new case is better built to prevent that, it has micro filters on the intakes so after almost one year, there's still no noticeable dust in it!

I'll see what I can do about an Image shack tutorial.

Good luck with the cleaning process, watch out for static! (though if you fry something, that's always a good excuse tp upgrade!!!  18.gif )

    Take care!

Mightygoose - Vil-valad, a city and its roots

Hehehe, yep a John too! for as far as I can remember!

I try not to forget to take lot's of pics while building and terraforming, but even then, sometimes I'm so "into" the game that I do forget!

We do have some dead ends here too, I even believe that there's more in RL around where I live, than what I create in SC4. After all we do have some british roots in Canada!  2.gif

    Take care!

Szarkoz - The Free Democratic Nation of Caledonia

Hi Szarkoz, the cars that parked in front of the water pumps, are probably the municipal workers making sure that all is running fine for the comming residents!

Yeah the TP trees problem, well in fact not much of a problem since you only have to plop a new stretch of street and it is replaced by other trees.

And yeah those young folks, sheesh! I would NEVER have done something like that....  22.gif

***watching behind his back to be sure that his fingers are crossed!****

    Take care!

    ThomasAH - Zorturia

    Hi Thomas, thanks!

The train station, is a Japanese one that I've picked on the Massive Japanese thread here in Simtrop, I don't recall keeping the link though... I'll see what I can do.

    Tot ziens!

    Bat

Glad you liked the postcard Bat, there's a lot of tree plopping in that particular sector!!!

    Take care

    wouanagaine - SC4 Terraformer a tool for regional hand-terraforming

Hey wouanagaine, indeed, you should take a break... sometimes you have to stop thinking about what you're doing, and do something else, It's often in those idle moments that we find new ideas without even thinking about them!

    Having fun is essential!

Encore une fois bravo pour l'excellent travail avec SC4 Terraformer

    Take care!

    S_A_ (Shadow_Assassin) - The Savannah Way

Careful with the drool over your keyboard!  2.gif

Yes each and everytime I save the game, or zoom out to the factor 1. but I only have to use the "zone view" then come back to the regular one and all is OK, it's a small price to pay for those great lots my friend.

Hey BTW, a request for your cycleways, if you have some time on your hands, could you consider making an straight section with an extender, to go under bridges?? That and a tight corner (90 degrees).

    Take care!

    Rayden - New Haven

    Hi Sylvio,

Always good to see when our work is appreciated! That's one of my favorite sector in Aôrien until now.

Shadow's Cycleways are so great, it's easy to make good looking vistas with them!

    Take care!

Toxicpiano - Toxicpiano Airport Bat Thread

Thanks toxicP, always good to see you!

    Take care

    KoolSIM

Hi KoolSIM, Welcome to Anduin Valley!

Hey, thanks for those compliments.  43.gif

5 minutes!! I sure hope you have a radiation free monitor! Careful with your eyes!  2.gif

Seriously I'm really glad you appreciate AVR, I'm always pleased to see new people here.

    Come back anytime

    Take care.

Rooker1 - Xania a tour of my world

    Hey Rooker my friend!

I was wondering what was happening! A new house, good for you. Is it your first one? I remember my first, geez it was good to get out of that cramped apartment! Is it in the Toronto area?

All is well for me these days, lot's of work but I'm not complaining, I simply love my work.

And how's Matias? and your wife? Hope all's fin.

Well,Bruinen Fjord will be kind of a med density area with a twist (you know me always a weird idea running loose somewhere)  2.gif

I agree about the power lines, though we have some choice now Andreas Roth for instance have made great looking rural lines!, but the pylons I like (I think I found them on a japanese site or in the Simtrop Japanese thread) are lacking a corner pylon so you only can do straight lines...

Great to see you again Rook,

Take care, and regards to the family!

Dan - La Plaisance County (Best Looking County South of Canada!)

Look who's talking! Who won a Trixie last year! Hehehe... Yeah right you did...

And you know what? Pa' and Ma' voted for you! BTW they're sending their regards to you and your familly, and they told me that if I didn't do it there'll be heck to pay!

And something else, flattery will lead you nowh...... well...... ehhh.... thinking about it, on that account you may continue, I kind'a like it!

Seriously, I know how busy you are Dan, and believe me I appreciate even more you taking some time to drop by to say a word, it means a lot. How's your son's baseball season's going BTW? Looking forward for some comments on the lots, you think they're ready to be posted on the STEX?

Would love to see an actual update in La Plaisance, it's been a while now.

Allright, now go back to your work, and drop in anytime you want my friend, always good to have some news!

    Take care

Special Eddie - Oasis--The Wild West

Thanks Eddie, my guess would be that Ol' Magott must have a contract with the authorities, he's now in the process of making some single malt whisky, and he's experimenting with different waters.

    Thanks!

    Rayden - New Haven

    Hi Sylvio,

Talk about weird! but then again, someone might want to pollute the water well with some strange mixture!!!  !

    GaBoR

That's an interesting theory about the TP trees!

Thanks for those comments and take care!

    Sorchin ñ Developping Macedon

Hi Steve, indeed  a very long time, how are you doing these days?

It's good to see you again, will you continue your CJ?

As for AVR, well I'm kind of pigheaded, I began this CJ as a personnal challenge, and the community suppport is so great that I had to continue until the region is completed.

And the fact is, I really like the interaction with you guys, giving me lot's of new ideas and sometimes, challenges!

As Don Corleone would say "We'll make you an offer you can't refuse!"

    How could I say no!

    So I'm continuing!

Great to see you, and looking forward to read you again!

    Take care

    Tracker - Graph X Services

    Thanks Tracker

    Anubis - anubis' cities

I'm really having a lot of fun working in Anôrien, and the cycleways are a boon!

    See you

    MS (magpieshooter) - Kinata Region

    Hey MS!

    Yep SA's created a masterpiece!

And here's the res sector...at last!

    Take care mate!

P.S. This time I"ve put the correct link!

    Benedict

I was really surprised to learn that AVR was reviewed on the Podcast, and Mikeaut was really generous with good comments! It's really good for a CJ'er  to recieve such praise, but the downside is now I have to work hard to live up to those comments!

I remember very well making that part of Belfalas I really enjoyed it! Glad to see that you liked it.

    See you

    Phil (PhilsCafe) - Acorn Creek

    Salut Phil,

Je me rappelle que pendant mes cours de peinture, il fallait souvent prendre du recul et regarder la toile, à quelques metres de distance, avant de continuer à peindre.

So yes I guess that we can extrapolate and apply the same principle to a lot of things we're doing in RL!

I really hope that you'll appreciate the whole thing when finished. Again it won't be a run of the mill town, I always have some weird ideas that pops up and I just can't resist asking myself the proverbial question... "and if I was to do this....hummmm..." hehehe... sometimes it does work, sometimes..... well... let's just say that I'm glad the bulldozer tool exist!

Wow! "calm vibrancy" I'm keeping that one! That's a nice expression, may I quote you on this?

Seriously, thanks a lot my friend, that's a very nice compliment!

    Take care

    -John

    GMT - Greater Columbia River

Hey Torben, hehehe.. that's why I included that postcard, I know that some people prefers the "final product" instead of the tech shots, so I try to ease the pain, a bit for the candy-shots inclined!

Thanks for the visit, and another region shot will come after Bruinen Fjord completion.

    Take care

    Micah

That sidealk is in fact SA Cycleways Expansion Pack 1 ñ by Shadow_Assassin

, It's a superb lot to work with, wich add a lot to any city! Try them.

Yeah the TP tree is appearing often with Jeroni's mod, but there's a simple workaround so it's not a big bother.

The parchment is just a small pohotoshoping trick, always fun to do!

    Take care!

ThePeoplesPerson - The Tropics of Haalu

Thanks TPP, glad you appreciate the mosaic, and that kind of vista just asked to be presented in a kind of cinematic way, the NAM permit's us so much more than the ingame road piece! Those puzzle pieces are really great!

    See you in Haalu!

Battlecat - Terra - An evolving region

Hey Battlecat, Thanks man, has I didn't have much choice besides doing a simple stretch of street or using some parkings, I thought that at least the parkings would have a purpose.

Glad you liked the mosaic. And Jeroni's mod is worth looking at!

    Take care

Wow! Thank you so much. I feel so honored. Now for me to pick out a house... lol

Back to your region, it looks excellent. That neighborhood reminds me of a Chicago type subdivision.

Quite glad to see all the growth in the town... also, seeing all the educational buildings pop-up around the town is always a good thing for the people.

Continued great choice of trees which add a lot to the town and region!

Thanks for the passport and the great update.

Great update!  Finally we get to see some city growth again (Not that I don't enjoy the tech shots, but the variety is even better).  That simple bit of terraforming to smooth out that lawn was very effective!  The suburbs look very nice as well, quite pleasant to live in I suspect.

Which set are those fences on the lawn from?   I've never seen them before.
