As always the precise one! Glad you liked the CD cover!
Thanks for the very kind comments 43.gif

    Thanks for you support KOSC!

    gurrgkud
Thanks man, really appreciated, and BTW your CJ is something to see, people you should go pay a look. 19.gif

    GaryGB
    Thanks Gary!

    KOSC
Don't know what to say man! 43.gif Those are great compliments But one thing is for sure, I should pay a visit. 16.gif That dam RLS so little time and so many great CJ...
Just for starters, I really think that anyone can do this, and the first point is : Patience, and that was the hardest part for me. 26.gif next, try, try, try and try again until you do it to YOUR liking! 19.gif Often I open a map (any map will do) and I test some techniques that I've seen on certain CJ until I get it. The rest is really up to you. But the biggest thing is still patience, sometimes I redo completely a sector 2 or three times!

    Well you get the point.

    Take care and thanks again.

P.S. You should write scenarios for the movies, I liked that little play at the end!

    jacqulina
They really are jacqulina, 19.gif and glad to read you!

    Thanks Z!

Another peek? This time on the next city in line! North Cair Andros

    nca_sneak_p_01.jpg

I don't believe this!... again a mayor's house... I opened a picture at random people, honest! 22.gif And poof! 47.gif There it was... the mayor's house AGAIN!  21.gif

Well... see you in a few!

    Take care!

You and those sneak peeks.....Well they do look great....I like the separation in the first sneak peek of the residential from the industry....Looks quite credible...

KOSC - Don't sell yourself short on the terraforming skills.....I think you do a great job of it.

Thanks for the link man and hey, those pictures look awesome. Wow, how many houses do you own in Anduin Valley? Thats got to be a LOT of houses! 18.gif

And as for Dol Amroth, I like how the sound walls prevent the rail from getting too close to the neighborhood, it looks great! Everything looks just perfect! 44.gif

    Looks great, as always.

    To solve this problem:

the only one who doesn't want to grow again is near Maggot's in Belfalas, I've tried a lot of things including rerouting ALL traffic out of there, making it a cul de sac. putting a anti pollution lot just near by, NOTHING worked so far!

Try dezoning, then rezoning. It usually works for me.

    Darmok,

You are quickly becoming the master of parks and greenery.  I love how you've shaped the land that your parks and monuments are on.  Your use of the pine trails is very well done as well.

I agree with your comments on doing your thing with your CJ.  It's very gratifying to realize that you may have done something in your Cj that nobody else has thought of yet.  Even if it's a very minor but eye-catching thing.  Although I must say that I tend to borrow a bit here and there.2.gif

    Thanks man. 10.gif

    dhoppe
Yeah the peeks... I don't know what came over me!!! 47.gif I was just in a peeking mood I guess, 2.gif I'll try to restrain myself in the future... The industries, I was just trying to imagine a small and nice industry sector with several services close at hand, a snack, a little commerce building, the train, and let's not forget just over the track, an inviting pub!

I also agree COMPLETELY with you about KOSC terraforming skills, 44.gif I've read his whole CJ yesterday, and It's very good!.

    Dragon
Hey dragon, thanks and the update is just below. BTW I'm still waiting for your answer about the upper frame! I PM'ed you yesterday about it.

    KOSC
First. Goldenrod is a GREAT CJ, liked it a lot, The Old Town!...WOW and thanks! 3.gif People this is one CJ to visit!
Second. Thanks for your kind words, and yes my mayoral duties brings me from city to city, you know the thing! It's a dirty job but... etc etc.
    Thanks again

    Shadow
Thanks for sharing that, unfortunately, it didn't work 34.gif I've even tried zoning some commerce, it grew, then dezoned it, and then rezoned agriculture. No go! 26.gif I'm not giving up though! 20.gif Thanks for helping!

    Godwin
RLS strikes again hey! Well i hope it'll get fixed soon! Thanks for your comments and the effort to keep posting even in those conditions! 44.gif

    Creilmann
What can I say..43.gifbut thanks! 19.gif I really like to try to integrate all the greenery and parks I can In any city I build now. And I think I'm more aware of the real look of my own real city, I notice how much trees and little parks and pathways everywhere! They were always there, but I guess we take them for granted and not realize how many of them we have!
Anyhow! thanks for the comment, and yes borrowing and ADAPTING ideas or things we see elsewhere is a very good thing!

    timotheus4
Short comment! Well...If you remember at the beginning of Cair Andros story, I explained all the problems I had while building CA, crashes when saving, terraforming, taking pictures... so, building that particular spot took me hours... not kidding!
Since then I've reworked it a bit, between work sessions on Anfalas and Dol Amroth and I plan to return to both halves of Cair Andro to do some changes I had in mind but was discouraged to try due to the problems.

So please keep in mind that those pictures are not always the finished work.

This being said, I thank you for your interest, and constructive criticism, it is an incentive to try to best ourselves.

    jacqulina
As always, your comments are a breath of fresh air, Thanks!

    A little comment,
some of you found my first CJ of MT, I've posted there to explain that the city was lost to an unfortunate HD crash. And the picture seen there, is NOT mine. In fact I've edited the post to take it off.

But I'm REALLY glad to see that it created some interest! 2.gif

I'll try to find some remaining pics on my Salvage directory, some of the files on the HD survived, but I think none of the directories of SC4 made it.

    Allright
Now let's go for the final update of South Cair Andros!

    3_CAS_INtro.jpg

    Update 7
Final look and first citizens cemetery

The church sector, needed some terraforming for the construction of a park. (BTW this is a very good example of the lack of pictures I could take at that time, only the beginning and the finished product can be showed, could not for all the efforts I made, take another one while terraforming.)

    cas_up_7_01.jpg

    cas_up_7_02.jpg

Some terraforming for a new industrial sector.

    cas_up_7_03.jpg

    Zoned and growing!

    cas_up_7_04.jpg

A little farm, near the police station!

    cas_up_7_05.jpg

This was the first cemetery in Cair Andros, as the population grew, it was decided to turn it into a kind of memorial of the first ones who came and created this community. It was named The First citizens cemetery. (Same problems here as stated for the church sector)

    cas_up_7_06.jpg

    cas_up_7_07.jpg

    cas_up_7_08.jpg

And a close up of the Keeper of the ground, house.

    cas_up_7_09.jpg

An area overview of that sector

    cas_up_7_10.jpg

With a grant form The King of Goldenrod a fountain was added to the roundabout, It is now named Goldenrod Fountain!

    cas_up_7_11.jpg

A close up of the rice farm, and tree farm.

    cas_up_7_12b.jpg

The following shots will give you a farewell view of South Cair Andros in a clockwise manner.

    cas_up_7_13.jpg

    cas_up_7_14.jpg

    cas_up_7_15.jpg

    cas_up_7_16.jpg
    cas_up_7_17.jpg
And with this parting shot, near the train station, we'll follow the road to the north side of the island, and witness the birth of North Cair Andros

    cas_up_7_12.jpg

As I've said to timotheus, there's a strong possibility that I'll come back to CA once in a while to correct some things that I like less, and that I didn't had the time or patience to do!

So folks this is the farewell to South Cair Andros, and next update will begin the north side of the island.

As always I can never thank you enough for your kind words, support and encouragement, I'm grateful for it,  5.gifand hope you'll appreciate the rest of the Anduin Valley stories.

    Take Care

Looks fantastic.  I love how you transformed the area into the cementaries.  They looks really great.  I love how you've developed this part of Cair Andros.  A good piece of info, if you wouldn't mind me saying, but in LotR*cough*the book*cough* King Elessar kept a garrison there for 10,000 Soldiers.  Thought that would be some nice little tidbit...

Darmok - What can I say, that I haven't already....Well, how about, that updated sucked....Ahhh, just kidding...

The fountain park in the second pic is absolutely fantastic....finished off with my always favorite pine trails.

Nice looking farm and nice seperation with Jeroni's walls.

The cemetary is great.  What really caught my eye here was the enterance gate.  The whole development is great though, from the BSC trails and tower to the wildflowers and your winding road that leads to the gate.  Just great.

Farewell to South Cair Andros - I think that your adventure into the rural was a huge success.

I hope it didn't ruin you lunch! 42.gif Seriously I'm honored by your gesture, a shrimp roll is a tasty dish! 3.gif Glad that you liked the cemetery, those little special things are what I have the most fun with! Thank you for your always gentle comments mayormommy!

    The Big Z
    Hey Z,
You sure know your Tolkien! 16.gifI appreciate the suggestion, only thing is, the north side of Cair Andros is already done! Though I'll keep that in mind for another city, I think you just gave me an Idea! Thanks 44.gif

    pikatchoum
Thanks pikatchoum! And I'll sure try to go see San Esteban, as soon as I can!

    jacqulina
    Thanks jacqulina! 5.gif

    Dhoppe
Well that's refreshing! No in fact It's just gravity working! 2.gif

You know how I love parks, and pathways. I really like that fountain and statue. They are easy to work with and always give a very good result. 19.gif

The wild flowers were added afterward, at the beginning there was a small garden on each side, but I found that the wildflowers were giving a better feeling to the place, less structured and more free spirit! 21.gif
Thanks for you comment about my rural attempt, coming from you It's a big compliment! 43.gif And this kind of development will continue on the north side. And we will come back with a more dense community in Anfalas which is more industrial. But that'll be another story!

    Thanks D

Well folks, the first update for North Cair Andros is on the way, should be able to post it tomorrow!

Thanks to all, and see (read) you later!

    godwin
Thanks godwin, 19.gifsorry that your internet problems are not solved! 34.gif

Alright, had some time this morning while installing Tiger on my Mac, so here's The first update of North Cair Andros.

    3_CAS_INtro.jpg

    Update 1
    Trains, farms and trekking!

While working on South Cair Andros, the idea of doing a more integrated trekking pathway network with the farming community grew in me after I saw how well Dhoppeii did it, in his so beautiful La Plaisance County. And the idea of turning this into a tourist attraction came too! 19.gif

At first I wanted to attach the island by a railway bridge, I even terraformed a little island at the edge of the map to connect with Anfalas, but soon I found it to be not very practical and not very good looking. 20.gif So I took the way of an underground train. More practical and no HUGE bridge, and this kept the insular feel to Cair Andros!

    So here it is.

    The bridge.

    can_up_1_01.jpg

    The underground solution

    can_up_1_02.jpg

    The overview so far!

    can_up_1_03.jpg

    First farms!

    can_up_1_04.jpg

    can_up_1_05.jpg

    can_up_1_06.jpg

The firs trekking paths are laid out. (I was just beginning to work with those Dirt trails, so you may notice at some places that they are not joining quite correctly, most of those were corrected later.)

    can_up_1_07.jpg

    can_up_1_08.jpg

Observation Towers, to watch whales and birds were erected all around the Island.

    can_up_1_09.jpg

An overview of the farms and the trail network (Thanks for the idea Dhoppe) 44.gif44.gif

    can_up_1_10.jpg

Integration of the trails with the streets.

    can_up_1_11.jpg

    can_up_1_12.jpg

And to finish this first update, an Overview.

    can_up_1_13.jpg

Folks, I ask you to remember, that I don't have a lot of pictures of the terraforming itself due to those damning crashes! 30.gif But I'll try to show what I have in the most coherent manner that I can! 19.gif

With that in mind I do hope you'll like this new town, who should be around 8 updates I guess.

So thanks to all of you who enjoy Anduin Valley, 44.gif your support is always well received, and very much appreciated. 10.gif44.gif

    See you next update!

    Take care
    Darmok

    D,

As always, a great update.  I have a few island, well I did until I destroyed them cause of no way to connect directly to them.  I forgot that subways could go under the ocean and connect ocean to ocean with no land connection between the two cities.  Great idea!!  44.gif  I especially like how you put the embankment set around the entrace, great touch! 4.gif

As for the dirt trails vs. the pine trails...don't get your shorts in a bind...you'll get used to using them quick enough.  I know I did.  2.gif  Just look back at the Pine Mountain Resort in my CJ and you'll notice I used those trails.  With these trails, I only have one suggestion though.  You said you wanted to integrate the trails with the roads.  Well, there are a couple of jump-off points that do that.  A few are ranger stations, observation towers, stuff like that.  In the resort in my CJ, I used an equine (sp) center.  You may want to check them out and see if they would fit with your city concept.

And, as usual, I must say that you are doing good with the new farm set from Barbyw and her crew at BSC.  For one reason or another, I haven't been able to get beyond Stage 1 farms yet, with the exception of the Turkey Farm that only grows as a Stage 2.  I guess I'm just BSC Farm retarded.  26.gif47.gif45.gif

As always, gotta say I love the CJ.  Keep em comin...I need something for inspiration right now with Lighthouse Cove.  29.gif44.gif2.gif
