I agree that not "everything" should be reviewable. However, when it comes to something so important as a touchdown, regardless of whether it is a game winning touchdown or not, it shoul most certainly be reviewable. Another play that should be reviewable is a field goal try (coinicidentally the Browns made a case for this too when Phil Dawson's kick defied physics and went throught the uprights then bounced back). They should either make a push out a reviewable play, or do away with it being a possible call. No referee call so important should be non-reviewable.

OffTopic: I love the Brownies. Even though they lost, I am still more than happy with how they have played this year.

And it ended up probably being the worst best game of the season.  The patriots didn't win that game.  It came up 4 and 1, and they couldn't do it - TWICE.  The Baltimore guy who called that time out made a bad call, and then the refs ended up helping them out for a penalty that should be able to be declined.  Instead, it backs it up into room for Brady to throw.

At the end of the day, all I have to say is I wish the W-L column could reflect such a thing as getting a win you didn't deserve.

Voar Tok-Once you start trying to undermine (right word?) their accomplishments with excuses like "If donavan Mcnabb played the eagles would have won" or "If the pats didn't cheat week 1 they would have lost!" its clear you are looking at things from the perspective of a Pats hater instead of a football fan, and just want to try and make their season look bad.

The best teams win when they need to. The patriots were pushed to within 2 yards of their limit (last play), and still won. It was like 2003 and 2004 again.

The first play, The defensive coordinator called timeout clearly before the snap, meaning the play that follow wasnt legit because brady could have heard the whistle and got messed up, or the o-line could have. Then the false start, the whistle was once again blown before the snap, making the next play not count.

The ravens broke down, the patriots came through in the clutch. Thats why we are 12-0 and they are 4-8. nuff said.

o and I wonder if the NFL should get rid of 4th down. I think anytime you have 3rd and 10 near the other teams 30 or 40, instead of thinking first down, you should be thinking get to 4th and 4, 4th and 3rd, so on, so on. 4th down is the most exciting down in football (when they go for it).

My dad is ready to take Joe Gibbs and Brian Billick and ship them both to a deserted island.

My mom thinks that's a bit harsh so Dad's next idea is that they both write "I will not call a time-out and hand the game to the other team" 100 times on the blackboard.

No, I'm looking at it from the perspective of a man who is disgusted with a team.  They didn't win.  They didn't come through in the clutch.  They got lucky and the Ravens gave it to them.  The Ravens played better that the Patriots throughout the entire game.

The Patriots won against the Eagles.  The Ravens gave them the game - that's a difference.  Had the timeout not been called, the Patriots would have lost.  I'm somewhat upset at the Ravens defensive coordinator for making the boneheaded call.  Icing the kicker is one thing, but no one goes calling timeouts just to ice someone on a fourth down.

The one thing here that people don't know is that I used to be a pretty avid Patriots fan, because they were good - freakin good.  I remember sitting in the car one Sunday night hearing that the Patriots had defeated the Colts something like 41-3 to win the AFC title match.  I was estatic.  Talked about it for two weeks.  Over time though, I noticed something.  The Patriots went for a talented team, to a talented and smug team.  I have a sincere dislike of smug winners.  The humble pie joke is nothing but a joke.

the final score was 27-24 patriots. I suppose that means they won?

Clutch-

16. done or accomplished in a critical situation: a clutch shot that won the basketball game.

As far as  I know, the patriots got the job done and accomplished a victory in a critical situation. Now, it would be arrogant of me to not admit that the pats got some lucky breaks, but, If the ravens didnt call the timeout, maybe the play before would have unfolded differently. When the ref blows the whistle, the play is dead. What happens after the whistle is irrelevant.

Your right. But this happens to all good teams. The best teams are the ones that win despite a poor preformance. You didn't see College Football analysts saying VT (Va. Tech, not you 3.gif)gave BC that game a month again, even though VT played afwul beamer ball for the last 6:01.

I have to agree with you there. Even though it benifited the pats last night, I think icing should be banned.

You go sit through one of the patriots practices and come back and tell me if you think humble pie is still a joke. The patriots may be 12-0, but they approach each game like the superbowl.

I remember a few weeks ago John Madden was talking about how Tom Brady approached each game like it was just practice.  If the other team realized that, then maybe they could pick up a win against the patriots.  I don't know if the Patriots have been listening to that, because the last two games were much closer than they wanted.

P.S.  I know Patriots_1228 is going to react violently to this. 3.gif

As I indicated before, there's a difference between winning a game and the other team losing the game.  The Patriots technically won, which is all the W-L column cares about.  However, there is a difference between beating your opponent for the win, and your opponent beating themselves.

Except they did run the play.  The ref blue the whistle, but even if he hadn't, the play would have turned out the same way.  Watching them, it was clear that they didn't know the ref was blowing the whistle until after Brady had already been stuffed.  I fully understand that when the ref blows the whistle, the play is dead.  That doesn't guarantee though that they don't run the play anyway.  A good number of them (like that one) the whistle is obviously blowing before they actually stop the play.  Even still, it doesn't change the fact that they couldn't get that extra yard on 4 and 1 - twice.

The humble pie joke is nothing but a joke.quote>

yea its natural. If someone attacks your team, you defend it. The only reason i am doing it so often is because my team is the most targeted 3.gif

offtopic-well i hope you pressed the mute button and screamed "FAT(insertsynonymfordonkey)" the minute he came on the screen. That has to be the biggest peice of bull i have ever seen, considering tom brady has had the best parking spot (awarded to the hardest worker) ever since hes been in foxboro. John Madden is possibly the worst commentator in the game. All he does is scribble all over the screen and talk about food. thats offtopic...but then again, im talkin to offtopic!

(Isnt it great to interrupt your homework to debate about football?)

edit: Voar Tok-yea, im not too sure what that was about, but I think rodney said somthing bad about kyle boller. Ill admit, there is no way I can defend him on that.

Yes, the English teachers always load up on homework this time of year don't they. 2.gif John Madden is a tool anyway, seriously, who sells their name to a video game? Al Michaels is the REAL commentator.

Well, the reason i have such a large amount tonite is because we had a snowday yesterday. Starting to realize how they arent so awesome.

Madden only has the game name still because his name is associated with it. Everyone knows Al Michaels is the REAL Commentator, who I might add is much more capable of making a neat drawing on a screen.

Chicago at Washington thursday-only reason I would want to watch this one is to see grossman mess up or to see how the skins respond to sunday.

Let's see . . . they played that game on Sunday, went to Florida for the funeral on Monday, and are supposed to play again on Thursday.  Not a good plan in my book.  I think they should postpone the game.

Yea, they had a story about that on sportscenter, unfortuantly, I doubt it will happen. I don't think after this weekend they could prepare for a game in 3 days like the bearswill be able to.

Even though it is still Tuesday, I still have to put on a bunch of Chargers gear and hang out the window of a moving car shouting: Lets Beat the Titans!

P.S. I get lots of honks. I don't know if people are honking cuz they like the Chargers or they think I'm crazy. 3.gif

Three days?  Try one.

Monday in Florida at the funeral

Tuesday  off

Wednesday prep

Chicago said they were cool with moving the game.  I think Sunday is soon enough.

Just a Question Do you listen the  The Ticket?

 Just a thought about Madden:

hes a total whipping to listen to but he is BY far better then Bryant Gumbel and Cris Collinsworth, who i was forced to listen to Thursday on NFL network.

 I was Praying for Madden.

Bryant Gumbel Cris Collinsworth  are the worst broadcasters ever. 14.gif

I can see why Comcast dosent want to carry those games.

We Will Rock You and We are the Champions are too commonly used in sports for one team to call it their official song.

easy bakes-good point. Collinsworth looks like a vampire.

But at least he gets  things  right Gumbel kept making mistake after mistake

It was hard to listen too at times. Like Katie Couric  trying to do real news.
