Yes much better than the red version. 44.gif

The tunnel entrance is a little brighter than the track itself.

Vester, the track for the entrance is still in progress. He says he needs to match the textures with the s3d models. 21.gif

Qurlix - what type of model are you using for the bridge pieces? BAT-generated, or full-3d? If they are full-3d, then style packs should be an easy thing to do, provided someone is willing to model. Those supports are totally awesome, but I wouldn't even expect to see something like them in Japan.

3ddz - i love what you are doing.  the tunnel looks great, although i thought the red looked good, i lkied it like that, the green blends with the sroundings alot. i think that wonce you change the textures you might have a harder time seeing the green.  what ever you decide, we will all be very happy. the project is coming along wonderfully.  i can't wait to what you do next.

qurlix - i am very exsited to here that you have found a way to keep the orginal monorail.  that is great.  although alot of people do not use it i think it is a good idea to keep it avalible.  and i understand that the new NAM will have alot more monorail peices in it.

Murakumon -  have you decided on a train for this project? i saw alot of debate about it but din't really see a final answer.

lastly, has a station been started?   anyway, great job to all,

    teddyb

PS - i love the bridge - don't change it one bit.

Yoman3: That's because the food sample version contained the original monorail models in it. Try moving tht custom oppie monorail file somewhere so it loads after the HSR.

Had a look at the test file. Why is there included a fsh, that has the same TGI as the normal shadow textures (build-in): 5ad0e817, badb57f1, 10660002.

Isn't that a bad idea ? Please assign another Instance number or just remove this texture. It's not needed.

I found a crucial bug...it seems one of your model textures overrides the default automata shadow texture. Just need to switch to a new IID.

EDIT: This is like the fifth time this week! I guess I shouldn't leave reply windows open for 20 minutes.

I just want to say that you are all doing a wonderfull and honourable job! This is one of the best mods I've ever seen. Keep on going like this!
About the bridge: Awesome. It really fits to the high-speed theme. And also does the tunnel in my opinion. Great job, 3ddz!

by the way, is there any chance that this mod will be included in the next release of the NAM? I truly hope so 4.gif

I think the two 'handles' that come up above the tracks on the bridge could be taken away and the bridge still look good. However, i think there oughta be at least 2 other types of bridges: one that is similiar to the highway bridge(IE plain vanilla) and also a Cable Stayed Suspension Bridge for major crossings.

I agree with hamsterTK for the bridges. I found this site while searching on google. It has everything, just click on each picture for an enlargement.

I like the bridge "handles"...they don't serve much purpose, but imo they make the bridge look futuristic (which in this case, is a good thing).

No one's disputing the handles.. we are just asking for another style. For a realistic one, perhaps smoncrie's Simple Road/Rail would work nicely.

I agree with paperboy that the futuristic looks of the bridge fits to the high speed concept, but I don't care that much how a bridge looks like. As long as it can carry trains, its okay to me.

In Germany, the Deutsche Bahn AG designed their high-speed ICE (InterCityExpress) railway lines for both passengers and freight. Since long freight trains can handle curves quite well, but not so much gradients, all new lines are merely a sequence of bridges and tunnels in hilly terrain. Passenger trains can handle gradients better (since they are not that heavy), but for high velocities, the lines have to be as straight as possible. This resulted in even more bridges and tunnels, to make the lines as straight and flat as possible.

Needless to say, it costed a helluva lot of money to fulfil both purposes. When the new lines finally were used, they found out that it's practically impossible to use both high-speed bullet trains and slower freight trains at the same time, because for security reasons, a passenger train and a freight train were not allowed to meet in a tunnel. Due to the high number of tunnels, this couldn't be guaranteed, and therefore, only passenger trains use these new lines - which could have been a lot less expensive, as I pointed out above...

I really can't wait for the HSR to be completed, it's really a Must Have for me! Is there anything I can do for you guys to help you out a bit? Reaction to mjig_dudy: I don't think freight should be able to travel on the HSR network. Why would anyone in SimCity let freight go that fast from A to B? Freight really doesn't have the complexity of region commuting, one of the things where the HSR will be really usefull for.

Well im having some issues still.... I've made the speeds higher and capacity higher, and i've removed anything that could load after it and interfer... still nothing... any ideas on how to make sim city accept inter-city travel?

So, what your saying is, the entire concept of this project, inner-city travel... has not been worked out yet? Well, thats just great. I got a sugestion. Becase you NEVER see bullet trains with 3 or 4 cars, more like 10-15, is it posible to change something so it does that in the game? Like instead of spawning a 4 car train, it'll spawn a 10 car. Oooh, can we also put in a specialty horn? Like, something diferent, high-tech like the monorail, but powerfull like the train. How about running lights too? Like a row of light blue lights going down the length of the train.

Just noticed the poll added to the first post - good idea. I voted for 4+ large cities between stations. Already outlined my reasoning in my last post in this thread. Also an issue of realism. A large city is 4km across. If you've got the train stopping every 4km (or 8, or 12 for that matter), it's not going to be a real high-speed train.

On the other hand, does anyone even know if commutes across 4 or more large city tiles are possible? Something tells me it's not just an issue of commute time... Does the pathfinding engine even look for jobs more than 1-2 large city tiles away?

Uncharted territory here - can't wait to hear the outcome of some experiments. Then again, guess it has to work between neighboring cities before we can start talking about commuting through multiple large cities...

Yeah of course the number of cars will be changed... and i think a custom horn could be done... not sure what kind of noise it would be though...
