I've been reading this thread since day one, so I'm going to take a crack at this. I think this is a cool project.

I think this is a much better way to go with high speed rail, notice the wheels are between trains... i don't know how easy it will be to do this... or if this kind of config is even possible... but I think it's a lot more "train-like" and less like the rapid transit trains. PICTURE HERE

Actually, the ends and draw views need work. Slowly, I'm going to attach some PNGs to posts.

(Desc. 1: The electrification props and terminus details are missing on the diagonals.)

(Desc. 2: The monorail-over-el hwy overpass needs work)

I am just summarizing the work in need. I forgot to test GLRxMonorail puzzle pieces for HSR....and the tunnels. Everything was good...I found a problem crossing two lines. Couldn't do it.

Hey do you think it's possible to make multiple bridge types? i mean ya got the bridge selection window already... if so i think we could do a cabled stayed and generic one. I want to send HSR through a wetland area and it'd be good for smaller streams and stuff ( if possible )

    Tracker

You will not be able to make interchanges that have not been completed ( IE: + Crossing, X Crossing, Y Interchange, and i think there's one more... )

Well, there are no other bridges for mono and el. Who knows, maybe...I think Maxis just skimped on that one.

Is the other interchange a W interchange where a track comes to the left and one to the right, while the main track continues?

Crossing is not possible thats why it does not work....
No really, i dont think that a crossing should be possible. The Network is ment for inter city transport not for filling the whole map with tracks
conecting 2 Blocks with each other.
I will make a Y split later and than there should be all connections that make sense. And only to mention it i still have to finish the ground highway crossings.

Concerning the GLR Split, i have no information on how the glr works so i cannot include a crossing for that. I will talk to qurlix about that.

Additional bridges schould be made in an later addon if they are possible. I will have to take a look at the double decker bridge thread to find out how it works.
I also thought of more bridges and already have plans for how they should look but at the moment we should concentrate on the essentials.

Oh highspeed rail double decker bridges... imagine that... anyways...

    under4gw.jpg

This is kinda what i mean on sunken... that was taken right after i pressed ESC during a UDI session. You'll notice that is is pretty convincing that it is sunken... and i wanted to achieve something similar in HSR

Oh and BTW: Props to Andreas Roth for the el rail train mod ( BART , Available on STEX )

Now we get into the tricky stuff...sounds like fun! The preview models? Well, lucky enough for you, the monorail system doesn't use something as complicated as that...it simply uses preview textures. They should be FSH files under the same IID again...or maybe not...lemme check.

Why, making a GLR crossing just requires making a puzzle piece! 3.gif Of course it's all easier said than done. I guess I haven't gotten back to you on puzzle pieces and interchanges yet. I suppose I should do that soon...

Bridges are smoncrie's territory. Though often it's not that difficult; of course you want a cable-stayed bridge, which needs complicated bridge specifications (rules that define combinations of bridge tile models). Sorry; I like sounding like I know what I'm talking about because the 97% of the day I'm not talking about Simcity, I don't know what I'm talking about.

Now I've gotta go and take a gander at it meself.

so no X crossing? cmon, that silly. without one its gonna be a pain building intersections. I mean, lines will need to cross somewhere.

I agree with 3ddz, it's not something you'd see in real life ( is it even possible? ) i think a overpass-underpass would be much more realistic

high speed rail systems arent all high speed trackage. Even the TGV runs on some lines that stil have road crossing at grade, and i doubt that the shinkansen is going 180 mph pulling out of shinjuku station.

I just think a underpass would be mich nicer, but i think the decision is up to 3ddz wether or not he wants to bother with an X
