@hym: Xtra burger served as specified.  Eat hearty lad.  I could eat a pound of meat when I was your age too.  2 l chilled mug of Dr. Pepper is served.  Wow!  Isn't that stuff a laxative?  Glad you are enjoying the GIMP.  I haven't time to play with it, but I was working through the tutorials, slowly.  The main difference between it and Photoshop is the price.  If you dip both ends of yourself in holy water, the devil can't touch you.  Have a nice swim.

@vid:  I am running firefox over a DSL line and don't notice any particular delays.  I guess i am just more patient than you.  TJD is a switch hitter, so he doesn't care about your orientation.  Look up succubus some time.

@sloppet:  I guess that means a table for one.  Jacques!  Un covert pour monsieur, s'il vous plait.

I can't afford RAM, and I do clear the RAM hogs on the computer.

Vid, how much virtual memory are you running for how much RAM?  Also, what kind of buffering are you running for firefox?

@voar tok:  Thanks for the dinner.  I just looked for the buffering stuff, but it must be in the chrome: config stuff.  I couldn't find it, but I know its there.  You can control the number of packets that assemble before displaying any, for example.

I think I'm going to go update my CJ. But before I do, can I get a Sidewinder Fang? 3.gif

Only a person who has played Freelancer will understand that... 3.gif

@DP:  The autosystem extracts the definition from your mind and serves a Sidewinider Fang.  Good grief, what is that, anyway?

@vid:  For openers, if you have 224MB RAM, you have probably really got 256MB with 32MB sliced off by your graphics card.  You VM initial size should be set to 768MB with a max of 1024.  With this tiny machine, I assume you are running Windows '98SE.  If it was XP you couldn't run SC4 at all well.  Don't worry about FF performance, this will probably fix you up.

It's XP. We got it when XP was new, of course. 3.gif And 'OMG 512 MB RAM!!!! AMAZING!!!' and now it's 'OMG CRAP LOLOLOL' 3.gif Explains why SC4 was horrible on this thing, though. How do you fix the VM?

ryanb_sc4, do you know who Tom Golisano is? Wouldn't it be fortunate for the Queen City if he bought the Bills?

How about tyring the computer in my basement? You might as well take a nap when starting it up, and then nap some more while trying to load something. The only thing I know that is inside of it is that it has a 3GB HD.

@justanothersim86:  Thanks for the cookie.  Look, you have attracted the cookie monster.  COOKIE, cookie, oh!, C-O-O-K-I-E!  The moose restrains the monster, holding it down to one cookie, and the KK dragon carts the bounder off.

@ryanb_SC4:  Take long deep breaths and gargle with this cold llama milk.

    @vid:  Well, here goes:

    1. right click on My Computer and pick properties
    2. On this page pick Advanced and click Settings in the Performance box
    3. Pick Advanced again on the new page
    4. On this page, click on Change in the Virtual Memory box
    5. On the Virtual Memory page click the custom size button, fill in your settings, and click Set
    6. Click OK on each page until you get back to your desktop
    7. Boot your machine

@NOBody:  Thanks for the service.44.gif  I hadn't heard that Dr. Pepper is a laxative, but then, I haven't noticed any odd effects from drinking it.  I have to ask where you found tutorials for using the GIMP; all I've seen is user documentation.  Unfortunately, taking a swim in the holy water probably isn't going to do me much good; I found that TJD is renting my soul for secondary income.47.gif  I looked up succubus.47.gif  If hell hath no fury like a women scorned, I'd hate to find out what happens if you get one of those things mad at you.3.gif

@vid:  I don't know how fast your RAM is, but 256MB isn't enough for your average user (if videocards are sporting more G-DDR RAM than you have for main memory, it's time to upgrade).  I have 512MB and I really need to buy another 512MB of RAM to improve my system performance (although I need to upgrade the videocard too).

@Leech:  I was talking with a guy who owns a computer shop and he said that someone once came in with a machine that had so much spyware and such that it took 20 minutes for the computer to boot.

I was sittin' pretty in the suite level for Game 1.  The suite I was sitting in is four suites away from Golisano's.  I caught him in the hallway, shook his hand, and thanked him for saving the Sabres.  Great guy.

N_O_Body - Worked like a charm!  I'll probably need a constant supply for as long as the Sabres are in the playoffs.
