Here we are, moved from Simcity.com. It has become too dicey over there, and it is a lot more friendly and populated here.

I hope everyone who wants to just chew the breeze will join us.

We specialize in llama dairy products [in honour of our resident virtual ruminant], good coffees, and reasonable snacks. We also like conversation.

Come one, come all, to the Moose Factory

For those who did not receive a reply on their last post over at the mother ship, please forgive us. We decided to move at the last minute.

For those of you who haven't been to the home site in a while this was the ultimate off-topic off-topic thread.  Anything and everything under the weather, including the weather and the whether was discussed.  Clean & respectful of course.

Barista, Start me out with my usual iced llama-milk latte.

John, my kiddoes are now setting up a miniature plastic bowling lane in the house.  I'm glad I didn't take them to a golf course on Saturday!!17.gif17.gif

Howdy John! If you don't mind, I'll have another of those llama milk ice creams. I am getting quite addicted! 3.gif

Too bad you had to move from Simcity. I really liked the small town atmosphere for a while there. I hope it didn't cause you too much trouble to set up shop in Simtropolis. The taxes are a little high too...22.gif

It supposed to get really cold here tonight. Forecasts are calling for a blizzard that will last until tomorrow with temperatures dropping to -45C with wind chill. Heck, I might not have to go to school! I hope I don't have to work outside in that...

Hey, John, how about a hot chocolate

Maybe this is a good place to get my foot in the door here. It takes me a long time to adjust to new communities like this, but maybe I'll do okay. I just can't find a place to start.

We finally might get enough snow to cover the grass. Seeing that it is January and this is Minnesota, we really ought to have more than this. I guess we are close to having the driest winter in 60 years, or maybe we already passed that up. I sure hope not.

Hey, John, how about a nice llama steak.

Well, we'll contribute to the tax structure when and if we can.  Being retired on a limited income makes it hard to help anyone.

Pops the freezer and scoops a double llama ice-cream cone  Here y'are.

The temp is supposed to be climbing here, but all we've had are ice pellets.

Hey, Matt, welcome to the new Factory.  Whomps up a hot chocolate.  Here's your drink.

How do you want your steak done?  Would you like a caesar salad, potato salad, or chef's salad with that?  The veggie of the day is steamed broccoli.

Adds two spoons of chocolate mix to hot llama milk and spins it up. Using the mixer cup and the coffee carafe, pours a latte into a large cup. Adds froth and chocolate sprinkles.

    Here you are, dano. Enjoy!

Yes, it has so far been a colder than average winter, but with a grand total of about 5 of snowfall. Tomorrow, the high is 30

@ Dev: Oakenshield and myself moderate this forum, pls p.m. us if you have concerns about members breaking the rules.

@ John & the others coming over from SimCity.ea.com:

Indeed, welcome to SimTropolis!  As you know and already alluded to, the atmosphere is slightly different here.  That because in addition to the larger size with more people there are also more specialized posts.  Unlike Simcity.com, the members are not only a group of people new to the game, or veterans of the game who appreciate each other's company, or people who want a chance to talk & offer feedback to Maxis, but also fans with differing degrees of expertise in differing arenas, who come in to participate or view examples of  City Journals, SimMars, BAT'ing, modding, terraforming, etc.  So in addition to being a relaxing spot in a big city, Off Topic is also a respite from the 'work' of the rest of the site.  But in anycase, the atmosphere is indeed slightly different than from the Home Site.  Please don't take anybody personally. We the moderators won't permit flaming and it is definitely in keep with Dirk's vision to make things as inclusive for ALL of the Sim City and The Sims fans as possible.

@ all members: This thread, though maybe untraditional, is off topic conversation and probably off topic in it's purest form.  It doesn't fit the qualifications of other forums, including games and  I consider it ideal for this forum.

    As Dirk would say: Cheers!44.gif

P.S. @ John (again): take a look at how I did this post to give you ideas on how to make accommodations for your new residence!9.gif

Meh. The problem is, Oakenshield has neglected what little snow we have gotten. 1/2 of snow here, some freezing rain there, another 1/2 of snow...it's made for a think layer of hellish crustiness all over the driveway.

I'll be spending the day chopping away at it before it gets down to -20F tomorrow night.

How 'bout a cup of the strongest, most heinous, most left-over coffee you have before I get busy? It's better if it fights back.

John, how about a nice warm cappuccino to go. I have a long break between classes and I need to stay awake. Put the lid on tight, because the roads are a litle slippery.

I am already sick of this long break I have on Mondays and Wednesdays, and it is only the first week. My first class ends at 9:45AM and the next one does not start until 1:30PM. It is 30 miles to home, so I am not going to go there. I am going to try to find a job on campus, but they may all be filled. Luckilly it will only last until spring break, because the 8:15-9:45 class is a half semester one.

Troll, you must live pretty close to me. I am in a rural area not too far north of the Twin Cities. I am not sure how close and I am not asking you to divulge that kind of information, but does your name have anything to do with a certain ski area in western Wisconsin?

The name is Oakenshield, and it has to do with matters that are best not discussed in polite company. Thus, it does not contain any reference to The Trollhaugen Ski Resort . I hear it's nice, though.

As for my location, that's no secret. I reside in your former governor's least favorite city.

    Hiya John!
So far so mellow at the job today! No judges, attorneys, clients, therapists, vendors or chain of command yelling at me so far!  16.gif  My social workers appear to be turning in court reports in on time and I was able to help one of my workers push a memo through for housing for a yute who will be aging out of the system soon (& I figured out to write that w/out violating any HIPAA laws; Matt I bet your mother know what HIPPAA is!).  My wife didn't fuss about too much time spent on the computer last night and I also my got my issue of Maximum PC yesterday and am ready to play the latest war game demo  (I forgot which game) & blast away bad guys (or maybe good guys?) right after evening bible study tonight & the kids are in bed of course.

I'm not sure what my blood pressure is right now but pls give me four shots in my iced latte!!9.gif

@ TT:  Spring is definitely the best time of the year to see D.C.!44.gif   With the mild winter we're having I suspect the cherry blossoms would probably come out earlier than normal, maybe as early as early March.  Regardless the area is gorgeous in the spring.  The city tends to go to bed much earlier than New York (you guys don't sleep anyway 3.gif) but there are plenty of activities for youth (regardless of the age) up through the evening.

I am such a ditse, or perhaps I am just adjusting to the new forum layout. I replied to dev as NDEX and to you as a troll. I even read your signature and know what it is all about. I think I have figured out what is what now, so hopefully I won't make such an idiot of myself in the future 9.gif.

I have heard some interesting comments about the layout of St. Paul, and I even have a little first-hand experience that I would like to avoid at all costs. My dad was reading a book of old newspaper articles from the Twin Cities, and some time around the 1880's someone had sent in a letter saying that St. Paul needs to do something about its messy cart paths before it is too late, or something to that effect. I drove my brother and two of his friends to a Wild game last season (and the final season 32.gif) and there was the Hmong New Year celebration going on at the RiverCenter, which shares all of its parking with the Xcel. I dropped them off but could not park in the ramp, so I took off into town to find a spot. After two hours of sitting in traffic, I finally found a spot a mile away, and only had enough change for 40 minutes of parking. Seeing as the spot was half a block from the police station and it is an electronic meter, I jogged to the X, entered the game, walked to our seats, and told my brother and his friend that we have to leave now or else we're certain to get a parking ticket. What an adventure, and when I returned to the meter there was one minute left. That was some really poor planning, both in city layout and event timing.

John, remembering this has agitated my temper. Give me a big cup of the most soothing tea you have.
