Oh, btw, i need some help from the tractor boys, if you know of an accurate seating plan, than i can get started, if not, higbury will be made for the smaller stadium (what am i doing, i seem to be starting so many stadiums now 42.gif).

Are you doing Highbury then?  Excellent, I love the Art Deco East Stand!  Can you post some pics?

timo, thanks for the aid, but i found out the problem with anfield is not the model. i haven't tried with the nitelites, but i am pretty sure it was the lods. oh, btw thanks for the support (and youre rugby stadium), you're a very loyal member to this thread.

and thanks to everyone else, i am hoping to solve the anfield issue hopefully before the weekend starts. then i can make the gates (maybe take an hour or so, not too long).

garyreggae, i got some help from macsurfing (a tractor boy) about portman road, so that is comming before highbury, but i too love the art deco stand and the clock stand. but as you all know me, i'll probably start it anyways.

lastly, i counted how many stadiums i have started (i was even surprised about this, i found stadiums that i didn't even know i started)

13 unfinished stadiums and 8 other stadiums abandonded or place on hold due to certain complications; so a total of 21 stadiums [:0]

oh, one more thing a long overdue preview of the hotel:

You're not the only one Mac.

Looking good JEC, I can still only heap Praise.

By the way, you do know Arsenal are leaving Highbury at the end of next season for a new stadium don't you? Think it's called Emirates Stadium (due to sponsorship deal), but was originally known as Ashburton Grove if my memory serves me well.

Excellent work on Stamford Bridge, I can't wait to see Highbury!  It was something I was considering as a friend (a passionate Arsenal supporter) asked me to do it but I can see that in your more than capable hands, it will get done!  I had started work on a Library that had a similiar design to the East Stand but it got corrupted so I'll havr to start it again 7.gif

    O-oh, these stadiums are so great! I want them all! :}

Edit: I've read this thread more carefully. JEC, you're the man! I hope to see one of these great stadiums released soon.
My favourite are Parc des Pinces and Melbourne Cricket Ground.
I never use custom stadiums in my cities, but these ones would be the first ones.

it's about time i replied, thanks again everyone.

JVGazeley, yes i know that they are moving, that is why i was going to make highbury, continue the tradition.

kagevrtugol, lets see, it is taking way too long and too much effort (which i don't have at the moment) to export, plus i have to redo all the seating. but school is almost over (2 months). allianz, one of several files that became corrupted because of a mistake be me (i don't really want to go into detail of the circumstances). and the guggenheim, for some reason (i have had other situations like this as well such as with le parc des princes) when i try to work on the model, gmax needs to close after several minutes, sometimes when i merge into a new scene it works, but it gets frustrating.

speaking of parc des princes, i am almost finished with redoing the seating, but i am still looking for pictures of a new addition to the stadium. and the mcg is still a huge pain in the arse, it will come though 34.gif.

oh, and gary, it will probably get started, but perhaps not done. as in my next case, i need to finish it:
    post-34-1111453392.jpg

this is the Arena AufSchalke, held last years UEFA Champions League final and is also one of the stadia of the World Cup 2006 in Germany. one of the most technologically advanced stadiums in the world with a retractable roof, pitch, and stand  (unfortunately, i can't export animations).
i also need to know if you prefer a closed roof or an open roof.

p.s. i didn't think i would make such a long post. and thanks for the portman road pics and info.

    Cool! Another great stadium!

If you are able to render it twice, why not make closed AND open roof versions! If not, I'd personally prefer the open roof... But a closed roof may be popular, too...

I agree with timo, if you could possibly do both open and closed that would be cool. But as long as you release A stadium in our life time I'll be very happy! 19.gif

    Closed Roof!

This is only because then in our CJ's it can be called either and Inside (american football) stadium or an indoor Soccer stadium. and with the open version just a soccer feild.

Hey JEC, I remember you saying a couple of pages back that you didn't know what the exterior or the new stand of the MCG looked like. Well, I have a little something for you which should help. I got this picture off a webcam just a minute ago.
    MCG%20New%20Stand.jpgWebcam%20of%20MCG.JPG
I hope this helps with your model.29.gif
EDIT: The picture that is on the right is a clearer one than the one on the left that just got taken.
EDIT AGAIN: Damn, now it doesn't work. I linked the second one direct to the website instead of the server & the link must have moved. I'll get another one soon.
ANOTHER EDIT AGAIN: I've got a clearer one up again. I've uploaded it to servers (to much hassle to upload a <50kb file to SPH)

Wow.. some great looking stadiums you've been working on there JEC. Even if they don't make it into game or through the rendering process the pictures alone are out standing. Some of the details and effort gone into them are almost personal, as if you have a great love for the building or something. It's great to see such dedication.

You know what would be really cool? If you rendered both, turned them into seasonal props, and made the arena be open for half the year and closed for the other half. Even if it didn't gradulally close, it would still be uber awesome! And it would make everyone happy!

    hey, thanks everyone.
i probably will release both an open and closed roof. i have almost finished all the modelling for the closed roof (more than just the stadium), but i still need to make custom lods because it won't export all in one piece.

a seasonal stadium is a good idea mayortim, but i have no clue how to do that.

oh, thanks for the pictures of the mcg, i can probably get the basic design out of those pictures and i suppose i'll improvise on the detail. but still, the seating and custom lods again are holding me back.

i have also finished the roof(s) of portman road, when i finish a bit more i'll post a preview.

lastly, i didn't want to post a new thread about this, but here is one of my side projects to shift between architectural styles and functions to keep me going with the bat:

Wow, that looks glorious, I love your stadiums and can't wait for this one.  I don't normally reply on BAT threads, but I just had a great idea, that I thought you might want to follow up on.  I noticed that several people in this thread are requesting different versions of your stadiums, some for football, some for what I call soccer some for baseball.  Well, if it's possible to make the stadium be open or closed for specific seasons, why not have a stadium set up for any of the above sports and then some during their corresponding seasons?  Seasonal sports would be a perfect alternative to having so many different versions of a stadium.  Though I have no idea how to start something like that, it would be an amazing accomplishment.

    Just my two cents.

I will try to help as much as I can with info on the MCG & Pictures of it. Here is a website which has a few artist impressions on it:
    Website 1

I will try to add more to this list in the future & keep up the great modeling! (BAT modelling of course~9.gif)

You could probably ask PEG at his support site how to make the stadium seasonal. He is (to my knowledge) the one who pioneered the methods of making things seasonal. 19.gif
