Missing Rail FLUP Tunnel / Rail over Underground Tram-in-Avenue

Hi everyone,

Playing around with the Ground Light Rail for the first time, and am trying to set up a small grid in a town with tram-in-avenue pieces. However, I am getting stuck when I run into an existing rail network, because I can't seem to find the piece to transition from ground rail to underground rail or the piece for rail over underground tram in avenue. I DO have the 'tram in avenue over rail' piece and the 'tram-in-avenue' ground to underground transition piece--that says 'rotate for other pieces' but it's the only piece in that subset when I rotate.

I am using NAM 49, but haven't installed any additional NAM add-ons (mainly because I don't know if those exist?)

Am I just looking in the wrong place for these pieces? Or are there additional plug-ins to add those to my menu?

On a related note, I also seem to be missing the regular avenue FLUP transition (without the tram in it) which would also be useful. Any idea where I can find/add that?

Thanks in advance! Pictures of what I do have included.

Hi everyone,

Hiya!

I don't know the answers, but I do feel your topic is more suited for the NAM forum (rather than SC4 General Discussion) so I've moved it. *;)

Herschel, I believe in your situation it would be easiest to make an underpass for the Tram-on-Avenue network under the railway. The one ramp displayed in your second screenshot (that one on your mouse cursor) should be just right. And to make it functional, I believe you can just plop the regular Road-under-Railway puzzle pieces on the railway. As far as I know, those will work even with GLR.

I'm running a slightly modified NAM 49 install right now (basically with some things I'm developing for NAM 50 plus a few other pieces of NAM 50 dev content), but the Avenue FLUPs portal and the Ground-to-Underground Rail items are showing up just fine for me.  The Avenue one is in the second part of the TAB Loop under the FLUPs button (and it and the Tram-Avenue one do indeed not have anything else under the rotations--that text was just applied to all the FLUPs pieces since many of them are accessed that way), and the Underground Rail transition is the last item under the main URail button (pressing Shift-TAB will cycle backwards through the loop and take you right to it).

I'd concur with @11241036's suggestion, which should provide a more straightforward build process.  URail consists of 138 traditional puzzle pieces across six menu buttons (one of which contains a 40-item TAB Loop), and unless you're using all parts of it extensively on a regular basis, the process of navigating its feature set will be slow and require patient exploration, more so than most other NAM features.  Due to certain limitations that have stymied modern re-implementation efforts, it's likely to remain that way for the foreseeable future.

If you want one network underground, then the trams must do so using the FLUPs pieces:

TiA-Under-Rail.jpg

1) Place two of the transition ramps either side of the rail network.
2) Link the two by using the appropriate piece for the rail network as shown. Note you'll need two for a dual-tile network like Tram in Ave (TiA).
Note I am using cosmetic mods, your pieces may look a little different visually.

I don't think it's possible to use the U-Rail pieces here, because there is no Tram in Avenue piece which rail can go under. In fact U-Rail is an extremely limited network and probably best avoided unless you really want it's functionality.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

@CorinaMarie thanks for properly categorizing -- similar to my modded menus, I'm still finding my way around Simtropolis :)

@11241036, @Tarkus, and rsc204 -- thank you for the detailed explanation and tips. I'm noting it down so I can find my way around the submenu loops, but it sounds like the solution here is pretty straightforward if the road-under-rail piece works!
