It's been two weeks so I guess I'll put some hints

This city is in Asia

This city's name starts with a B

This country doesn't use the Latin alphabet

Automated Notice Message

All posts after 1 March, 2026 @ 01:37 GMT were lost in the site crash.

We've added this message thread divider in every topic across all forums for what were then active threads. (We decided active is if the most recent extant post (from the backup) was on or after 1 January, 2026.)

This divider serves as notice that the conversation was interrupted. Answers and further discussion which used to be here have been lost. Keep this in mind when replying. Our hope is to rebuild what is missing.

That's Quito, the capital of Ecuador, and a very recent entry in the list of cities with a metro system, having inaugurated its first line on December of 2023.

* * *

Let's ramp up the difficulty just a bit, with a big city that it's not a country capital:

(edit: I'll be trying to remake the previous images on the game, though I cannot promise they will look exactly the same)

    It's Durban, in South Africa.

Here is the next guess. Fun fact, the airport on the satellite image is the 3rd-busiest airport in the country where this city is located by passenger traffic.

You made that one easy: Nice in France.

This one is not very big, but well known:

@simmering This one is easy for me, Guantanamo Bay! It's officially supposed to be Cuban territory, but the entrance of the bay was seized by the USA to establish military facilities in the context of the Cold War.

Feels instantly recognizable to me due to the characteristic Caribbean dry scrubland biome growing on karst terrain on the dry coastlines of the islands and on the lower-lying islands. It also features one of the few glaringly visible borders, in the form of that cleared land strip delimiting the American-controlled area.

    Proof of correct guess:

Wow, this one was really tough for me to figure out! I won't give the answer just yet in case someone else wants to try. This city took me through an exhaustive elimination process, especially as I was 100% oblivious to its geography. Only thing I can tell from the screenshot is the climate isn't too cold nor too dry; and that the city looks relatively important without being so big.

I'll do the opposite now, reveal my answer but cede my turn to anyone else who wants to take it.

The city @Bendinerd00 presented for us to guess is none other than Tbilisi, Georgia! In my search process, I notice the mountain vegetation is more saturated, which to me tends to indicate a warmer climate. With that in mind, I first considered tropical islands with clear wet and dry sides from orographic rainfall. None of my options in the Caribbean, the Pacific, volcanic hot spot islands nor even the African coasts turned up anything favorable. From the size of the urban area and the type of infrastructure visible, I could tell it's a relatively important city that's not too populous, and didn't seem to have the order that's more typical of New World urban centers. I then remembered that the areas surrounding the Caspian Sea have some noticeable rain shadow effects, so I started to search there, until I found the river to the west, lake to the east, and the small mountain ridges surrounding on the north and south sides.

    Proof of correct guess:

This would be Duluth, MN, USA: https://maps.app.goo.gl/7pGHvJnW5jy1obFN6

To me, this place has the ideal layout of a tropical coastal city: a long, narrow sandbar, beautiful beaches, and tranquil lagoons, but set in a cold climate.

At the height of summer, I’d bet this place has nothing to envy of Florida.

The next city is a bit of an oddity. It is the largest and most populous city in its county, and with 100k residents, its the second most populous city in its CSA. Yet it remains a complete suburban underdog, thoroughly overshadowed by two significantly smaller cities in the same county:
