Building Styles Master IID

This is the official thread for getting an IID Range for additional building styles. 

In total there are 4096 possible styles that have been distributed like this

• 4 official styles which are the Maxis Style
• 60 Styles that are reserved for community styles
• 4032 publicly available styles in which everyone can use the styles

Currently only the Range 0x00002000 - 0x00002FFF is available which hopefully should be enough in case there is a saturation of the range it could be expanded by including another empty range.

How to get an IID Range?

Range contains 16 styles to be developed so a person will have a minimum of 16 public styles and 16 private styles but will be able to get additional 16 additional styles reaching a maximum of 32 public styles and 32 private styles.

To get an IID range to generate the styles of the additional buildings we need to compile this module so that we can optimally handle the requests. 

User: Write your Simtropolis username

Numbers of Styles: Specify the number of IIDs indicating where to go to allocate them. Automatically get 32 public styles.

If your module is found to be correct we proceed to assign your range. 

When you have a definite idea of the styles you must communicate to me through on this thread IID of the style and a brief description of the style. Below you can see a brief demonstration and in the sheet is an initial technical demo

0x00002004 - Cyberpunk - Building style dedicated to all futuristic buildings with dystopian and neon elements
0x00002005 - Solarpunk - Building style dedicated to all futuristic buildings with utopian elements and with focus on solar energy

etc...

This is important because people who do not want to obtain a Range IID can rely on the IIDs of users who are on the sheet.

Conclusions

With the publication of this thread we can finally remove the mod warnings and officially open the additional styles to the public allowing you to finally build cities with more modularity.

The only informative note we leave you with is to carefully consider that there are many standards among the RCI buildings so you need to include all supporting versions (CAM & PIM-X, SPAM, IRM and MAXIS PIM) of the buildings.

In case you want to create building styles specific to some standards (Example: Cyberpunk style that supports only CAM & PIM-X and IRM) you have to specify it in your downloads in order to avoid unpleasant problems.

Also in case of critical problems (Immortal Lot Syndrome etc..) you must immediately report the offending lot to make the necessary corrections in order to avoid unpleasant problems for people.

I sort of feel like CB and I pioneered the proof of concept so we'd like a minimum set at the beginning of the range if possible.

are there any restrictions/requirements in regards to the IIDs? Like, would the person requesting them need lots they make/design, or would this just be for designating styles that anyone could then contribute to? Well with the public ones anyway.

There are no restrictions in that the person has to decide how to use the IIDs.  So a person can make a personal style and publish it by including his lots and other lots or do a small collaborative project and create a community style

Following discussions in the thread indicated here

It was thought to efect this modification

• Block the range 0x00002010 - 0x0000201F (CoriBoom (Cori & CB)) and their related Private IID 0x00002800 - 0x0000280F. This range will be used for community styles
• CoriBoom (Cori & CB) will have a new Public IID range (0x00002060 - 0x0000206F) and The Private IID (0x00002850 - 0x0000285F)

Before I efect the changes I want to know if this is okay with you or do you have other solutions

Before we officially answer, I do agree using 2010 thru 201F for the community's extended tilesets is the right choice.

What happens to 2004 thru 2009?

The reason I ask is CoriBoom doesn't need a very large public range and we would be happy to have these. I realize no one will remember the work CB and I did to originally establish the proof of concept for additional styles, but it would be a token nod toward our ground breaking work to have the slots immediately following the first 4 Maxis sets.

Since 2000 - 200F is part of the Maxis range it is thought not to be used by anyone. So no one can modify and use that range for security reasons

This doesn't make sense to me. In our initial testing that range worked just fine. I don't see any security risk.

More like it was an idea discussed on discord to avoid interfering with Maxis Styles. But if it's okay with you I might give up the 2004 - 200F range to you as additional space

Since there are no Maxis styles in the 2004 to 200F range, I feel it would be quite appropriate to assign them to CoriBoom. For the private range, that can be swapped around any which way works best for your accounting.

Maybe I don't understand why there's a distinction between Public and Private, but for our first use it will be public starting with the Cori's Castle Lots and we'd use 0x2004 for them.

If suitable, could I have the range 0x0000207# - currently unallocated as the public one?

They are currently suspended until since the community is still fighting over the maximum number of community styles. This sucks, and I'm sick and tired of changing people's IIDs.

I would like to do it but am constrained for logistical reasons. But things can change but it depends if community styles are realized. If they are not realized in this case I can make changes and you have a smaller range (But in this case the changes will be irreversible)

@CorinaMarie, you and Cyclone Boom can take my ranges and I'll just take a later one if you'd like.  But if the Community Styles need to be shifted once they're settled, then it's my opinion that EVERYONE should be shifted.  Just do a mass republishing of the ranges or something.  Just my own suggestion.
