Help how to build a good railway network, and why does the train not spawn?

1. hi i'm very new to this railway system and i''ve been wondering why trains does'nt appear on my city does it have to do something with my building of rails or does it just take time since im really interested to see some steam trains going on about my city

Hi,

first, try to inspect your railways and see if your sims are using the train.
Use the Route Query tool (the bottom question mark, on the bottom-left UI) and click on the railways.

If there's no route going on, then here are some of the possible problems that I can think of:

1. Your railways network is not connected properly/broken, so try to make sure they're all connected properly.

2. Your sims prefer to use other types of transportation because it's faster/closer. This can happen if you set the layout of your network in a way that makes the railways less preferable than other networks. Especially if you're not using NAM in your game.
