Mayor names not showing

Hello SC4 Peeps,

Silly question here - Some of my cities don't have the Mayor Name's appearing. This region is the tutorial region, so I'm wondering if it's related to some bug or something.

Any help / insight on how to fix it would be appreciated. Thanks.

There is a checkbox in the region view which allows to toggle it on or off.

I believe this is intentional, because the mayor names are indeed missing in the tutorial. I think I can see that you have changed the city names so you may use the cheat to also add mayor names if you like, though I think this won't work anyway, because these cities serve a particular purpose and may be hardcoded as such.

But the main question is why you are not using the Timbuktu Too region? It is a remake of Timbuktu, sans tutorials. There, you won't be constrained by the tutorial areas of this region. You would need to export-import your existing cities in there though, but it is a very easy process actually.

It should be possible to add a Mayor Name using the ‘cheat’, but the reason these cities don’t have one is because you didn’t start them. When you enter an unused city, the Name and Mayor’s name can only be entered when you start in Mayor Mode. The pre-made cities have already passed this step and Maxis likely deliberately left the name blank. Again, it would probably be possible to edit this by pressing CTRL + X, then typing:

HelloMyNameIs something

Where something = the name you wish to use. If that name has a space, you’ll need to enclose it in quotation marks for example “something and more”. I think this cheat is available as standard, but some require having the extra cheats DLL mod to use.
