Reading files: maps and regions

Hello,

Long time player here, I was wondering if anyone could direct me to more resources with regards to reading maps and regions?

I'd like to inspect individual tiles on a map:

  • is it occupied?
  • anything underground?
  • location on grid, etc.

I'd like to do the same at a region level.

I've got the ilive_reader and guide; but before I dive-in I'd like to see if there's anything more I can read. Perhaps down to the level for an API?

Thanks in advance

Are you looking for something like SC4Cartographer? It's currently more or less in active development.

There are a variety of libraries for reading writing DBPF in different languages that I can point you to (I happen to be working on one myself). Most of the things about DBPF are already pretty fleshed out, but a lot of the aspects about savegame files are not, and Killeroo has filled in a lot of those gaps with what he's done so far.

Looking for a prop or texture? The SC4 Prop & Texture Catalog might help! View online here.

Yes! I just happened to stumble across his github this morning! His work on decompression is exactly what I was looking for.

    Thank you
