hi everyone

I would like to know what could be the reason why when opening an existing city, be it large or small in a normal region (I have regions with many cells and I understand that it takes a long time to load) these take a long time, they could be some lot or mod that interfere with the operation?, as well as knowing which plugin no longer works, after many updates,

Hi @aom1550

How long does the game take to load for you? Does the game eventually load and start?

Unless it is your computer system itself, a couple things it might depend on...

The first is the size of your Plugins folder. The more the game needs to read, the longer it will take. Looking at the second image, your whole SC4 folder is over 7gb. If most of that is in the Plugins itself, that might be part of it. I do have a set of Plugins that's about 8gb and it takes well over 5 minutes to load.

The second thing is if you have NAM installed, and if so, what components you selected. A full NAM installation might lead to a longer startup time.

Maybe others have a better answer, but in my experience, I've not noticed a single plugin cause a long load time, only the total amount. That might be a place to start...

Proper clear out of the plugin folder might help too. Remove any non-game files (jpegs, readmes, etc...) as sc4 will have to spend time determining that these are not game files before proceeding. Dat packing could also help, as this will reduce the total number of operations the system will have to go through to load the plugin data.

Other significant gains can be made by upgrading your hardware. While there isn't much difference between modern processor's performances while playing a game this old, a massive improvement can be had by upgrading from HDD to SSD. Even the slower SATA-attached SSDs offer a big jump in performance.
