I stupidly threw out my charger for my old laptop (Just so happens to have all my sc4 mods on it) so I've been having to download mods onto my desktop. However, one of the mods is causing my game to crash but I really don't want to uninstall all of them again when I don't know which one is causing it. Does anyone use a mod manager that helps them with their mods? or is there a way to figure out which mod is the problem? Really regretting throwing that charger away...

Another option (that involves a little electrical surgery) is to pull the hard drive out of the laptop and attach it to an external enclosure like this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sabrent-2-5-Inch-External-Enclosure-EC-UST25/dp/B000UO8MZQ/

That will let you plug your old hard drive into your desktop via USB so you can copy all your files across.

The suggestion of a mod manager is a good one, perhaps more technically possible nowadays given we're down to two major hubs and a few specialist sites and wouldn't have to interface with too many different exchanges. Hell, the SC4D LEX mob have done some of the lifting work already implementing the Dependency Tracker over there. Maybe someday somebody will get around to building one. It won't be me, I'm afraid, I hate building windows apps. Had to do it years ago in college and could quite cheerily have shot both the computer I was working on and the whoever made the tools we were working with.

There is currently no "mod" manager that will do what you're asking.

There are a number of causes for crashes at various points in the game. They can range from corrupted savegame files, to exemplars containing foreign language characters not recognized by whichever language character set you are using, to Lot Exemplars pointing to non-existent Building Exemplars.

Unfortunately, not knowing what is causing the crashes makes it hard to tell you what to look for. Knowing when the crashes occur might help us narrow down the possibilities.

In the mean time, the method recommended by @CorinaMarie is probably your best chance of figuring out the culprit.

The method recommended by @Whte_rbt for connecting your old hard drive to your new PC would be the best method to regain what you had in your Plugins folder before (with no guessing), and assuming you weren't having the same problems (crashes) with your old PC, it would alleviate the necessity for a potentially long search using the binary search method. It would also allow you to recover any custom regions and saved cities.

Another possibility would be to try and find a reasonably priced replacement for your laptop charger (if you haven't already tried).

Also, just a word on semantics to lesson the chance of confusion between those asking for help, and those that want to help. The term "mod" technically encompasses all custom content. However, the most common use for this term within the community would be a file (or set of files) that modifies some fundamental aspect of game-play (things like NAM, CAM, desirability mods, demand mods, Maxis blockers, etc.)

Replacement power supplies aren't that hard to find on the web, just make sure it's certified for your model laptop. some have sense circuits built in and won't charge the battery if not matched, the laptop will still turn on but only when plugged in. I just got a new computer a few weeks ago and am not looking forward to months of clicking to install a few files into my new install of SC4. Who ever decided to create installers that require clicking for an our to install 1 file should have been strung up. Definitely not my favorite game for installing DLC into, but well worth it when done.

OK for your conflict problem; try moving root folders from plug-ins about 5-10 folders at a time to your desktop then start the game. If it crashes put them back and move 5 more until you find a set causing it to crash then move 1 at a time back until it crashes then remove that folder and finish testing the remaining files in case you have more than one causing your problem. And don't forget to run your Cleanital files when installing new content, that can resolve some crash issues before they happen. When you install the latest NAM it comes with the latest version of Cleanital but it removes it during cleanup so during setup pause it and make a copy of that folder with Cleanital in it so it doesn't get removed, the latest version isn't always posted online when the new NAM versions come out. Those guys are amazing and usually too busy to get single files posted while working on improvements for NAM's next upgrade. Someone please make a bulk installer for DLC content to this game, a lot of us are in our Arthritis years now and all the clicking is getting to us when installing this game. also someone create a download manager that works, I used to use the LEX down-loader but cant get it to work anymore and I don't remember STEX ever having one. This time when I get all my Mega props and files I'm going to burn a few DVD's with my files then after installing all my desired files I'm going to burn a copy of my Plugin's folders as a backup for future installs.
