Help extracting multi-part zip file

Good morning,

On the site:

http://somy.gozaru.jp/p7.htm

i downloaded files: somy-industrial-port-set01, 02, 03,04, 05, 06.

Only the somy-industrial-port-set02 was easy to extract, and to have in my plugin directory.

It has been impossible for me to open the others sets, because it seems to be "multivolums zip files" with .z01, .z02....

When i try to open for example the somy-industrial-port-set01.zip, (with 7zip) it says that "file can't be opened as an archive", when i make a right click on it the file seems empty (0 Ko) though the two .z01 and .z02 (that go with) seems to contain 3 Mo each.

I made a copy of my plugins to work in security,  and i retried to extract properly, putting the set01.zip in the same place that the two .z01 and .z02 files, i could not extract but i could open it, i had a file named somy industrial port SET01, that i could also open (but still not extract), that file seemed 0 Ko too, but there was four files inside crane00, crane02, somy-Ships01, they still seemed to contain nothing (0 Ko files), and a .jpg file. I insisted and opened crane00, and oh surprise there was a content with real Kos, i opened crane02, somy-Ships01 and there was content too.

I thought, yes i made it, and i prepared a place  to put those real files inside my real plugins directory, unfortunately i couldn't move them, it's like they are still not really extracted.

My OS is windows 10, i am the administrator of this PC, i ordinary use 7zip, or zip to extract files i download on simtropolis or sc4 without problems.

Could u help me, or indicate an easier way to get those files, blue cranes and the conveyor look awesome, and i'm trying to make a Coal Dockyard as i saw on Chapter 10 of Imperial Wilhelmshaven Dockyards.

Th u

Jeffito

Trying to open multiple files in the 7zip application doesn’t work and I’m not completely surprised. Instead right click one of the files (usually part 1) and select 7zip/Extract here. 7zip should appear in the context (right click) menu unless you manually disabled that feature after install. This should extract such files just fine.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. I tried all i could to open those files. I'm about to abandon. And i don't really understand what rsc204 is trying to explain to me. I even think i may have try the way you describe.

Is it possible that someone let me have the files in an easy way. I mean in a easy extractible way.

Those blue Cranes, on their blue ramps, and the conveyor that can even go over railway are really awesome. Why did somy put that in an unreachable file.

any detailed help will be welcome

^ That's a temporary linky to WeTransfer.com. (This way it's not a long term bypass for Somy's own hosted files.)

Here's a couple of video tutorials I found which might help to visually explain the process:

    Link to 7-Zip:
    https://www.7-zip.org/

It can help to copy the files into a new folder, before then right clicking to extract or open the main file. Then all being well, the multiple parts will be recognised and from there it'll see them as joined together. At that point it should be possible to have the contents extracted to a subfolder, to copy into one's Plugins.

They can be a bit unintuitive, so do let us know if we can clarify anything to help with understanding the process.

    YESS!

First i want to thank all of you for the help and the answers.

Around 2 AM, When I was sifting through these files one last time I had the idea of copying them instead of trying to move them. So I prepared, in my plug-in backup, a folder named somy Industrial port SET01, with the subfolders: somy-Crane00, somy-Crane02, somy-Ship01 inside. Then, without looking to extract, but by simple double left click, I opened somy-industrial-port-set01, always with double left click I got the subfolders Crane00, Crane02, somy Ship01, and one .jpg.

Then, one by one, with double left click on each one i opened them, i could see the content of each, but it was still not uncompressed and not moveable, and not usable. So  I just copied each file in the folders i had prepared before, and oh miracle, when i copied them they were extracted. I had them, ready to use. I couldn't believe it.

I'm going to work on the Coal Dock all day? Thanks to all of u

First of all, nice to hear that you managed, Jeffito!

For anybody else having the same problem as mentioned in this topic, but still no solution, I might have one.

Step 1: Download Winrar, is has a 40day free trial.

step 2: open the following two websites

    http://roe99.weebly.com/somy-collection1.html

    https://web.archive.org/web/20160909204148/http://members3.jcom.home.ne.jp/somy000/simbat/somy_industrial_port_set04.zip

Mind you: clicking the last link will automatically download a file of somy, but it didnt work from their homepage.

step 3: Go to the first site and take a look of which File you want to have. Right click on it and go for 'Copy Link Adress'

Step 4: go to the webarchive site and enter it in the search area. It should automatically download it

Step 5: extract the file with WinRar to the plugin folder.

Hope this saves a lot of time for somebody.
