Tutorial... How to create an Underwater Neighbourhood Connection that works for everything (that can use Tunnels).

I'm amazed that the return of water doesn't destroy the road and rail stubs around the connections. I wonder what else can be built down there that can survive being inundated. Maybe my big functional airport complexes should be off the coast rather than hogging valuable real estate.

Other Natworks wont work. Trust me, i was testing it a long Time.

Well, like you saw in the other Tread, it is possible to built everything under Water ;-)

Sorry, that cant work. It works only for Tunnels. Trust me, i was testing like Hell whats possible.

I need to *Edit* my Posting. It is possible to build everything underwater.

Amazing discovery a connection like that would survive. I allready suspected this had to be done like diagonal bridge enabler with lowering the water level. Bridges aren´t affected this way ? More tiles in between maybe the breaking point, aswell the 2 squarre connector.  ? You can make a corner connection as well as any adjacent tile is usable with even a network of connections As there´s a tunnel going under water, anything is posible ? Rail sub merged underwater !

By the Way... i never tryed it in a growing City. I did it all befor i start a new one.

But why should -setsealevelzero destroy all Buildings? I´m going to test it out...

*EDIT* the Rain Tool destroys everything, not that DAT File.

@Naomi57 is prolly referring to the Ctrl+x cheat: SetSeaLevel 0 rather than that mod you found and use. (The setting of the sea level to 0 is one part of the NAM's DBE mod instead of a separate single setting like setsealevelzero.dat.)

Yes, I was referring to that Ctrl+x cheat: SetSeaLevel 0 which is apparently very destructive, though I've never used it, only read about it.  The DBE or _sealevelzero.dat, are much better options that way.

I haven't tried it yet, but you could probably plop the entire airport underwater.  I'm guessing that wouldn't be a good look, but .... mmmm, I am curious about that!

I put a Large Fire Station underwater in one of my cities, using DBE, works like a dream.  *:bunny:

FLUPs pedmalls work underwater, too, and I tested to make sure they have no impact on ferry routes passing over them, so that's another underwater option.  As a bonus, you can place FLUPs pedmalls just by switching to Water Pollution view, no need to change the sea level.  However, if you want to bulldoze them, you'll need the DBE or _sealevelzero.dat.  There's lots of FLUPs pieces that can be plopped underwater, but SC4 technology doesn't extend to underwater bulldozing.  *;)

    EDIT:
Correction, on experimenting a little, the underwater bulldozing doesn't work in Water Pollution data view.  If you want to bulldoze underwater, you have to switch out of Water Pollution view, so you'll need some other way of seeing underwater, or else close your eyes and B,click hope for the best!  *

I found the extra file in @Raymond7cn's helps big time placing and removing FLUPs underwater.

It will just remove the water surface texture. It lets you see the bottom of the sea. Placing and removing the FLUPs is easy. I kept it for future underwater work. Definitely worth checking out.

Also I found FLUPs can run under a bridge that's over water. I have only tried on a monorail bridge, but both networks work fine.

This I did not know was possible, if so you could use such a workaround whilst the Rain Tool's water was still in place to have properly functioning networks under Bridges... off to test that.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

I used two one way FLUPs to reach Raymonds Vertiport. Now that I think of it, I used it some other time also.

    Ah, thats why...

setseawaterzero let the Water gone and changed the Ground a little, so you can build better on the Seaground. After replacing, the Ground is back to look like before (and the Water ;-) ).

That's going to take a miracle. Apparently I miss spoke about that working. I really thought it was working before I had to reconstruct the bridge. In doing some work I had an accident a destroyed the mono bridge, and at that point I had to move the FLUPs because they would not place in the same spot. It took so long to get it back to "working". And now I find out the tile below the bridge is a reserved tile. So much for that waste of time. I need to look back at my screenshots and see if I have one of it working. But that's not going to be easy either, 1500 pics and most have 3 screens in it, so they are tiny preview.
