Hi. I would like to know how to get the BRF Slope Mod to work. I have it in my plugins folder but it doesn't seem to be working.

If it's not working, then I'd have to guess there is another slope mod interfering with it, i.e. loading after it. Do you have iLives Reader installed?, you can use Plugins Analyser to easily track conflicting mods if so.

Note the NAM comes with a slope mod for RRW, which you should not install if using your custom mod. Likewise if you are using the MHO, a slope mod is included for Ground Highways too.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

Let I explain what's exactly a slope mod. A slope mod is a mod to modify how should networks smooth out the terrain. There are 2 important things that slope mod modifies: max slope change and max slope along network. Max slope change means how much the slope can be tolerated. Max slope along network is how much the slope can be produced. For instance, look up at Ennedi slope mod compared to other slope mods.60057cc8f10da_NHPEnnediSlopeModInformationTable.jpg.2c878f86d4ef29326fe9a1a46a4b766a.jpg

In this case, if you want to build monorail using Ennedi slope mod, you have to make sure that between 2 heights slope is less than 1 tiles. After you build the network, its slope will be 6 tile. Otherwise, if you want to build the same network using BRF, you can make that network on 2 heights with less than 40 tiles of slope. But its resultant slope would be 5 tiles. It's quite difficult to describe slope mod without visualization. Here are the resources to learn more:

If you wish to have smoother slope, you should pick the ones with smaller max slope change and max slope along network. Otherwise, pick the ones with larger max slope change and max slope along network.

But not everything in this world is simple, including slope mods. They can include properties like max network slope change (not to be confused by max slope along network), construction crew time, cost per tile including its variations, cost per meter displaced, and minimum slope needed to start a tunnel.

For experts here, I'm sorry for confusion max slope change with max slope along network. I hope this will be useful. Thanks.

And quite a bit more, like the restrictions on bridges, and tunnels, and pylon heights, and embankments, and all of the costs. Basically, if it affects the placement of a network piece, then it is in there (and can be customized). Each net has its own exemplar, and each exemplar has about 30 parameters in it.

Once you dive in and find out what power you can wield (e.g. making roads look nice while also being easy to place etc), you'll wonder how you ever lived without your own personal set of placement preferences (i.e. "slope" mod).
