Trying to Recreate the Glory of SimCity 4 on my old PC on my MacBook

Hey everyone,
On a whim back in March I bought downloaded SimCity 4 because of quarantine. I hadn't played it in about 7 years. I have an old PC that I had with all these cool patches and stuff. It just doesn't work anymore but I have a hard drive with those files.

But I am trying to recreate some of the basic things that playing SimCity 4 meant to me back when I was playing it on PC.
This one thing is that I liked to use building plop. I liked it especially because I enjoyed plopping a bunch of the gift item Casino everywhere, or making massive Universities or huge medical centers made out of "Gift" resources that I thought were so cool. Now I'm struggling to figure out how to do that on a Mac. I'd like to just make a bunch of movie studios or something next to each other.

I tried to install MacInjector today. It was something I had been meaning to do since I bought the game for Mac. However, after i went through it, it now seems that I cannot even open SimCity 4.

I'd be curious if anyone knows how to take care of that.

So if anyone knows how I can plop unlimited gift items, I'd appreciate it. The actual game mechanics of taxes and trash collection aren't what I find engrossing about the game. I like painting with these textures and using it as a springboard for imagination.

If you are running Catalina on your Mac, I suspect this the problem you've run into:

No, I am running High Sierra, which is working well for me.

I downloaded mac injector and the extra cheats files back in April which is around when I installed SimCity 4.

I don't know why it wouldn't work if I'm not at Catalina yet. Regardless it would be helpful to figure out how to open up the program of SimCity 4 first. And then see where I could go from here know the limitations. That is where the fun of creativity begins.

Yes I just did that it seems to have worked.

Do you have any suggestions for how to plop unlimited gift items in a city?

No worries if you can't think of any. thank you for your help!

Have you tried the you don't deserve it cheat? While in the city, use Ctrl+X to open the cheat box and then type or paste that in and press the enter key.

This won't allow for the placement of multiple rewards like the TV Studio, since only one of each can be present in a city.

It doesn't really matter that you are not using Catalina, the effect of the changes still apply to you, because you will almost certainly have been updated to the 64-bit version of SC4. You can not "inject" 32-bit code into a 64-bit application, it would need to be recompiled in order to work with a 64-bit application. So unless you can go back to a 32-bit edition of SC4, you won't be able to use MacInjector and consequently any .DLL-based Plugins, such as the ExtraCheats.DLL you need.

If I am reading you right, at some point you've switched from Windows to a Mac. But for over 10 years now, Mac computers are just a standard PC in terms of hardware. If I were you, I'd consider using BootCamp on your Mac to install a bootable partition running Windows. This will allow you to run the Windows version of SC4, which doesn't suffer from a multitude of problems the Mac version does.

Of course there are other workarounds, such as making copies of all the Reward lots that don't have the only 1 in a city condition. But given the difficulties in running modding tools under MacOS, I really think BootCamp is by far the simplest solution to your problem.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

That's true. Maybe someone will remember this, but I recall there's a keyboard combination which can be used to allow more than one reward to be plopped. I'm not sure it's unlimited though, and it was 2 or 3 additionally it allows I recall. Or I might be misremembering this entirely, but it just came to mind.

A working possibility for multiple rewards is the RH Rewards Unlock mod. I just tested this and it does allow unlimited plops as far as I can tell.

Here's a preview with the Maxis Mayor's House plopped more than a dozen times:

Aye, CB, I remember this, E.g. When game tells me that i could build the Opera, hold down the right button of mouse then click left button to somewhere to plop, but don't loose the right button, we could keep building until no money.(not pretty about money), though couldn't build any more if loose the right button, however we could use this method again after bulldoze all this reward just built. is it this one?*:D
