Hi! So the very first custom building that I decided to download was @thecitiescenter's awesome H Mart. When I plop it, everything is fine; however, when I query it, the game crashes to desktop. I am using the 1 CPU core and high priority switches. In order to try to diagnose this issue, I had replaced the Graphics Rules.sgr and Video Cards.sgr files with original copies. The reason that those files were modified had been that I had used SimsNetwork's Graphics Rules Maker to add my GPU to the Video Cards.sgr file. Replacing those files with originals didn't solve my issue.

Thanks in advance!

Fun fact: Buffalo sauce contains the entire DNA sequence of buffalo, so you can clone buffalo while eating buffalo wings with buffalo sauce at Buffalo Wild Wings in Buffalo, New York. I've never tried it, though.

@Turnstyled thanks for bringing this to my attention.  Give me some time to investigate the issue and I will try and see if I can come up with a fix.

No problem! I'll be glad to update if you'll be able to find a fix!

I went ahead and peeked under the hood.

The lot assigns the standard Landmark Query UI 0x2A56675C and for some reason that is causing the crash. I changed it to the generic commercial one 0xCA56783A which allows it to be queried without crashing. Ofc, there's no useful data filled in for that one as there are no jobs and since it's not a growable, the environmental factors are blank too.

I noticed it's using the Big Ben query sound effect 0x0A8C9EF0 which seems a bit unusual. In my test I changed that to the commercial one 0x2A8916AB.

I did try various things to get the Landmark Query to work and I had no luck at all. It doesn't seem to me there should be anything wrong with using it as set originally. Anyhow, in case it might be helpful, here's your file with the tweaks to use the commercial UI if'n it will help you: thecitiescenter - H Mart.dat

Wow @CorinaMarie thanks so much for looking into it!!  I was investigating on my end as well and was really about stuck as to what was causing this.  When I ran the model through the SC4 Plugin Manager, I just set it to Landmark with all the defaults except the plop cost and the Item name and description.  I didn't change anything else, so not sure why it was doing that.  Anyways, thanks again!  I'll try to change the those items you mentioned and update the file on the STEX.

Just as a possibility to look into, I wonder if it might be worth using the PIM-X tool. This also has a user guide here, and it's renowned to be a much more advanced and robust program than the original Maxis PIM is. This way it can allow a ploppable building to be created from a model with proportionate properties. What I'm wondering is if there might be some conflict with how it set the exemplar there to cause the CTD upon querying.

For editing the individual properties if Reader 0.9.3 might be a little too complicated, there's also the LEProp tool that could come in useful.

Maybe use one of these tools to edit the file @CorinaMarie provided, such as if waning to add Commercial jobs for instance.

    Update released:

Thanks again @Turnstyled for identifying the issue and @CorinaMarie for troubleshooting and finding a resolution!

@Cyclone Boom thank you as well for the info on PIM-X!  I'll download it and give it a try and will look into using it for future files!

I'm really glad a resolution could be found! I've started building out my plugins folder. I needed some assets after getting my mods, so after H-Mart, I had started with all SPAM-conforming content.

My style is unlimited money and enjoying the art of it all. I'm not yet sure if I want to use a demand mod or not. I'm thinkin' no because I'd rather let the game's simulation do it's thing.

I'm waiting for the day when I can block all Maxis buildings from growing.

Your thinkin' no is a good plan. *

Someone had a city a while back that had a glitch in the power supplies and it was causing brownouts even tho there was plenty of juice overall. That part isn't the point I'm making here, but they sent me a copy of said city so I could help troubleshoot. (And it turned out to be one specific Wind Power Plant.)

Anyhow, that city had a Plopmatic 9000 lot in it which increased all demand to astronomical heights. So, after figuring out the power glitch, I played around growing stuff in that city. It was amazing for a while being able to get large buildings right and left. However, once reaching a large population (100k-ish iirc) and then things started stagnating. Because of the demand mod elevating all of the bars, it then meant the whole RCI Graph could not be used as part of the troubleshooting. In general it just made things even harder than growing a city naturally without a demand mod.

My conclusion is a demand mod seems ok to begin with, but for serious playing long term it'll cause more trouble than it's worth.

Most demand mods create artificial demand that just can't be sustained, eventually throwing the entire region totally out of whack. XX Turbo was designed to allow more actual demand to be accessible each month. It's not a cheat, it's an evolution.
