As someone fresh back, and find Photobucket no longer an option, what hosting site do you use to share the images to the forums?

Simtropolis. *:)

It's best to post images as compressed .JPG format. (CB'll be along in a moment to show you where you can monitor you attachment allotment quota.)

The big benefit of uploading images as attachments is how they'll be locally stored on the ST server. That has the advantage that for the home of where the images will be uploaded to, it ensures how they won't just go walkabout or disappear unexpectedly. In addition to daily automatic backups as a server side process, weekly accumulative local backups are made of all user uploaded items. This means there's a safeguard in place also should anything go missing or be deleted and need recovering.

In case it's useful here too, I'll re-post a slightly edited previous reply I made recently to another topic on this subject:

Although it's acceptable to use an external host like Imgur.com if preferred (which is a renowned reliable external host), it's perfectly fine and we actually encourage the use of local site storage quota. This works by attaching images to the bottom of the post editor, then using the little + icon for inserting each wherever you'd like. For off-site images, those can be embedded by pasting in direct links. They should resolve fully to be seen prior to posting, and double clicking allows options for resizing if desired.

If deleting any, they will no longer appear in posts which have those pictures or files attached to however, so that's perhaps worth considering. Also any existing attachments can be posted again by using the "Insert Existing Attachments" option inside the menu on the right side. This saves the need to re-upload the same images again, say if posting CJ pics into Showcase topics (or vice versa).

And here is said page: My Attachments  *:read:
(Note: Just to clarify, the "My" is seen from a personal perspective. So to whoever is reading this, it's really Your Attachments.)

This forms an individual index listing for each user of the site where one's quota can be managed.

This is convenient, which wasn't the case with the old ST forum setup. Might have to downsize the images just to not fill the quota quicker than it needs to be.  I enjoy being part of the SC community while playing the game and participate in the "Show Me" section quite regularly. CJs are more work than I could handle but certainly like perusing them. Simply amazing cities have been created with all the custom content.

Thank you for the responses. Should be seeing updated images of Groovington once again. Thinks it's been 2015 since the last image upladed. Much has changed. *
