Memory not found by EA System Info tool

So i got this screen when i used the tool and it's the graphic card memory not found or system memory, both?

There's surely just this tool itself that's at fault here when not finding it but i just want to know what gives when my EA system info report tool reports this.

I'm not familiar with using the EA System Information tool myself. I suspect though with it being originally designed for older systems, it's simply unable to detect the hardware specifications of all modern computers. For instance with it seeing your OS plainly as "Windows NT" without a version increment (6.1 for Win 7), and it says this is invalid based on the red icon which isn't true. For there to be absolutely zero memory (RAM) detected, this is also clearly incorrect as you've rightly suspected.

In your "SimCity 4 Deluxe\Apps" folder there should be a config text file too which would reveal details which SC4 has detected. This includes memory and other such info, including which graphics rules have been applied based on how capable it sees your hardware.

For general diagnostics of your system, running the dxdiag tool can be useful for an overview of how DirectX is functioning. This is bundled in Windows and can be accessed by opening a Run dialog (Win+R) or searching for it in the Start Menu.

(As a side note, I've just moved this topic over to the SC4 Bugs & Tech forum since it technically concerns a technical issue. *;) )

I think the question you have to ask yourself is why do you need this tool? Its intended function is to give diagnostic information to EA support in the event of a problem. I highly doubt you'd get an answer using that tool in 2019, so you can consider it redundant.

Indeed, things change at the OS and hardware level and given the age of the application, is simply doesn't utilise a method that works in the here and now. Oddly, it detects 1MB of my system RAM, which is interesting considering I've 32GB of the stuff! Likewise, it seemingly isn't able to detect anything above Windows XP for the OS. But since this tool is not directly connected to the game itself, it's a non-issue really.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

If you want to learn more about PC systems, then (as an exercise) see if you can get the tool to run using compatibility mode for XP. The tool itself has little value, but fussing with compatibility mode could help you to wrestle with other old programs.

PS: When asking system questions, remember to tell us details like your OS.
