Starting in version 66 of Firefox Quantum no sound enabled item will auto play without your permission. *:)

So, if you notice your beeps (notifications) are now silent you need to allow them on Simtropolis as follows:

If you can't find this option (like me), check the Preferences to activate the sound again.
