Windows 7 - One year to go

Well, as of today, Windows 7 only has one year of support left.  After Jan 14, 2020, Windows 7 will no longer receive security updates.  So I guess the question is, if you are still on Windows 7, will you move to Windows 10 or stay with an operating system that will continue to become less secure over time.

I still use Windows 7 an my laptop that I run SC4 on.  After Jan 14, 2020 I plan on keeping Windows 7 on it and either 1) disconnect it from the internet or 2) make frequent backups and take my chances.

If you are still using Windows 7, what are your plans after support ends?

Some of my computers will stay running W7 for the foreseeable future since I'm not doing anything important on them and dual booting Ubuntu/ Mint isn't that much of a pain compared to the past.
For my main computer though, an Elitebook 8770W if you're curious, I'm honestly considering sourcing W10 Enterprise from college, because in my opinion that is the only version of W10 that is usable and not riddled with bugs and intrusive data mining. All the other W10 editions are like we the Dutch tend to call them a 'frikandel'.

Support?

When it comes to viruses and malware, i buy support from another company.

I use Windows 7 PRO and generally, i don't trust them all that much about anything, Microsoft.

They release OS'es but i want to stick to one and not jump around and BUY new, really expensive one's when they feel like making another suspicious cash cow.

The risk for some VISTA or other total cr@p OS is too big and Win XP and this one that i use is OK and let it stay that way.

The amount of hidden stuff running in the background eating away on any systems resources are due to themselves but also any other software programmers and i'm not keen on any other updates which rarely are all that and top notch software.

Linux is always an option

but in all seriousness, I run 8.1, it's stable, it works, I've no complaints, and honestly I wouldn't touch 10 with a 100K LY pole if you offered to then toss both into a supermasive singularity.

no offense but having to troubleshoot 10 all day at my job I'm going to enjoy my quiet freedom while it lasts thanks.

btw, I used XP until 7, then 7 to 8.1 for touch screen support... I've paid enough to microborg.

I really liked WinXP Pro and felt the same way about Win7, had Win8 on a Laptop and really didn't like it and never tried out Win10 as I finally got fed up with the Microsoft updates, final straw was an update to my Win7 PC that pretty much made my computer run like a brick, went over to Linux Mint and its worked really well ... no technical issues, its stable and while I did have a couple of issues starting out re windows programs vs linux alternatives its been a surprising pain-free switch

My PC was using Windows 7 forever! Never have time for upgrade or buying new PC because was too expensive...
