Daeley's Menu - A DAMN Problem

Hey folks,

Not sure were this should go so I apologize if it is posted in the wrong thread.

I use the damn, it's working ok I guess except that I have quite a few lots that when I attempt to plop them they cause a CTD. The lots aren't really anything to intense pretty ordinary. They are fine if I remove them from the Damn and plop them from the regular SC4 menu. Just the Damn is a problem. So far I have about 30 lots that cause the CTD's.

I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem and may know a solution? I've looked at the lots in question in ILive Reader but not sure as what I'm looking for if it's the way they were modded.

TIA

Here seems fine to me. It could go in the Techy Bugs Forum and if desired any of the staff can easily move it there. I did add a bit to your Topic Title as some peeps might know all about DAMN without realizing the D in it is Daeley's. *;)

(I've never used it, so I'm no help for your question.)

I've found the same issues. They are caused by the menu hidding process when using the last version of the DAMN-manager. With the older versions and the SSP tool it doesn't happen, but you will have to rebuild your entire DAMN menus to make them work again.

Sorry for the lateness of this message. I finally got around to remove my version of the DAMN dated 2015 and revert to the old version with the ssptools. My problem is now ssptools won't run. I get the box asking what language but after clicking ok NOTHING!

Here's what I got DAMN version dated 7/11/2008, SSPTools v2.2.5 and JAVA 8 (latest)

Also I could never get the old setup to work in SC4. SSPTools and the DAMN worked, just wouldn't never fly in SC4. That's why I went to the new version of the DAMN it worked so-so. Just a lot of lots wouldn't fly being damned as previously mentioned.

Tried going back to Java 7, no help.

    Would appreciate any help!

    TIA

    Been there, done that!

The problem is with the usage of a 64 bits version of Java, as the SSPtool can only use the 32 bits version. You will need to force the programme to use the 32 bits executable to open the jar file that contains the SSPtool. I cannot remember exactly how that's done, but that worked for me once.

yea, I finally gave up on trying to get ssptools to work. Couldn't get java to install the 32bit version and can't get anyone to reply at Oracle to figure a workaround. So I went back to the new DAMN. I still include the lots that wouldn't DAMN just I unhide them, still makes it a lot easier to find them in the DAMN rather than the normal sc4 menus!

Anyway I do have one other question don't know if you use it or not but do you use the DAMN-NAM plug-in? If you do, is it worth it or is it a total hassle? I've heard some say yes and some say no. Would love to add all the NAM 36 stuff!

In any case, the issue with hidden lots CTDs only occurs on the last two versions of the DAMN manager, so you can use previous versions without issues.

About the DAMN NAM, it's good, but it was thought for the puzzle piece era: now that most NAM things are flex based, it doesn't make so much sense to use it. Maybe you can damn the stations, but the network elements would work better directly from the menus.

Check the shortcut you use to start the game your target should be "G:\GOG Games\SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition\Apps\SimCity 4.exe"

and your start-in line should be "G:\GOG Games\SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition"

You also should have compatibility mode set to XP Service pack 3 and run program as administrator.

If you have all this and still not working make sure you are running the latest DAMN prog. The latest is 1.31.

The old version is a real hassle to get working I never was able to get it working stable.

Also have you created and menus yet in the DAMN? If you just installed it then that might be the problem you need to create some menus first and get some lots put in them for it to work in game.

Let me know how it goes!

Just to clarify my path and your path will probably differ as I have the GOG version you may have the steam or cd version but witch ever version just make sure that the start-in box just has the path to SC4 root only not to the game exe.

Only if you've the GoG version of SC4 and even then, only if you've installed into the default path.

These must be correct for your particular setup or you've no chance of it working.

I seem to recall some issue for Steam users with DAMNmaybe the information here is helpful?

    hello,

I've installed a fresh new setup for SC4 this week on win10 and ran also into this issue. Menu appears but nothing in...

in my case path was only first point, the second one was to modify the way DAMN manager present the menu via the installer button. Setting it to 2 columns and width to 350 on urgent advice dialog solve my problem.

my 2cts for the cause ;)
