Max values in SC4Tools

I'm using SC4Tool and the Building reference that comes with it.

A Large Police Station has a Center Strength of 300, but when I try to align the stats for my downloaded lots, the Center Strength has a value of 0-255.

Anyone explain this?

Where is teh Uni in SimCity_1.dat?

I'm trying to align/check the occupancy group for my downloaded lots. So I've opened up the Simcity_1.dat file to see what they should be, but can't seem to find the university exemplar. Am I missing something??

How are you looking for the items? Are you using the Exemplar Analyser using the tree structure? That makes things a lot easier.

Hint: If you have SC4Tool installed, just open the building reference, and you shall find the necessary information. If you want to add the IDs for the occupant groups manually with the Reader, open the "sc4Ref.dat" in SC4Tool's "System" subfolder, and you shall find the exemplar file somewhere in the DAT.

What happened??

I decided to make my own flag for my CJ.  Well, before I exported it, I made sure that it was

visible on all zoom levels.  However, when I loaded the game to play it, this is what happened:

Thanks! I'll give it a try. This whole BAT/Lot Editor is all new. Which is so bad, because I've had them both for a very long time. It is just a little overwhelming at first. hehe

Max growth stage per zone density

I was wondering if there was a list / matrix / explanation of what the maximum level growth stage per zone density there was.

EG:

What is the max growth stage res on a low density powered and watered zone?

Look on pages 112&113 of your Prima's Official Strategy Guide or... jump over to the forums...General Discussion....Look for "City development stages. What are the requirements. Look at RippleJets post and find the file clip to download the stage limits pages.

Thanks for that, but unfortunately whilst it told me what pop levels to get what stage, it didn't tell me what I needed: what stages can build on what zone density.

For example:

I zone some low density res areas, what is the maximum stage I can expect?

Typically:

Stages 1-3 = Low Density

Stages 4-6 = Mid Density

Stages 7-8 = High Density

The Colossus Addon Mod by BSC (CAM) defines additional stages 9-15, which are all high-density.

The zone types a lot is allowed to grow on are determined by the LotConfigPropertyZoneTypes property in the Lot exemplar. In general zone density corresponds to the growth stages above (lower density buildings are usually allowed to grow at all higher-density zones types too, eg 4-6 stage lots usually are allowed to grow on medium- and high-density zones).

However there are quite many exceptions to the above convention, eg some stage-7 or -8 lots (but only 2x2 sized) can grow on medium-density zones, while some stage-1 or -2 lots require medium- (or above) density zones to grow.

HELP not just anybody, well ok anybody

i need or was at least hoping for some one who is familar with the Reaader and the LE

i was wanting somebody to hopefully transi enable these lots or at least make the double to single rail line look more apealling by some how making it so the bumpers from the default sc4 rail lines dont apear when placing the lot and if possible making it so at the end where the lot meets the line it doesnt looklike its jumpy or off. sorry if the pics come out small

You can transit enable the straight parts with sc4 tool (get it here) However if you want to make the curved one work, it will have to  have custom paths. The straight ones will need custom paths too if you want it to be a single rail. If you just transit enable them normally it will look like a single rail but still function as a double rail.

In order for the rail to work properly you will probably need to make them into transit puzzle pieces  (like what the GLR, raised rail or other NAM puzzle pieces are)

hey thanks actually im trying to get the darn thing in the first photo..... maybe transit enabled... ijust dont want the regular rail line from the game to have the bumpers at the end when trying to place the lot. so i've been trying to create an overhanging lot with the LE but doesent work nor let me save, but it did in-game make some new lots or tryed anyways but when i went to see whatg they were it had the red squares. so anyone i can find to help me make an overhanging WORKING lot would be hot.

bty i dont know it just placed them there when i told it to attach file

Hey DragonAnime, I tried to do that with mayor house, it worked but now I'm having trouble renaming the prop that overlap the building.

What I want is to rename the prop so that it won't show the original name of the prop when you hover your pointer over it.

Do you have any idea how to do that?

Open the lotfile with the Reader and change both exemplar names and then set the 3 numberlines in *User Visible Name Key* to 0 and save the lot. That will do it.

Custom Lots and Vehicles?

When making custom lots, how do I make it so that a police car/ police helicopter/ fire plane/ etc. can come from a building.

For example, if you have a small fire station in your city, you now have the ability to drive fire trucks around the city.  How would I make this happen with a custom lot?

In the LotEditor open a regular firehouse, then choose another building or modify the lot.....save as....and you got a new lot that has the same abilities/options as the original.

Lets expand the explanation by mrbisonm a bit. If you only use lot editor you can not by definition add any custom building to, for instance, fire department lot.

Lets assume you find a nice building model on the stex and want to use it as a fire department. The thing to do is tell the model its a fire station. You need to use the program "pluginmanager" by Maxis to do that.

Place the model file in the root of your plugins folder and open up the pluginmanager tool. Now you see the model in the right hand side of the screen. Drag the model to the left on teh screen and drop on the ball that says fire department.

The program now makes a desc file for the model which can be recognized by the lot editor.

Now open up lot editor ... open the fire department lot and press replace building. Here your newly made fire department building is listed and you can make the lot.

Slope Friendly Civic Buildings

The excellent tutorial on building on slopes I found on this site has been a huge help, I've nearly banished retaining walls from my residential hillsides. 

But the problem is, when I go to put in city services, they always wreck the hillside.  There doesn't seem to be any way to make them conform better, if the terrain isn't nearly perfectly flat, they make it so.

I can't be the first person to run into this, so has anyone created slope-freindly city service buildings?

I don't know, all you can do I guess is download and test out everything on the STEX. I know that I don't personally pay much attention to the retaining wall properties of my lots, and I don't think most other people do either.

But you can open the lots in the lot editor to change some of their properties.

This is more about lotting than it is BATing, so I've moved this thread to the lotting forum.

Problems with 'Save As'

Basically I'm trying to add some airplanes to ace_whatever's jetway lots, and when I load them up the 'Save As' button appears blanked out and I can't click it to save my lots. I've checked everything I can think of and they're not Read Only. Can anyone shed some light on this please?
